Yeah, he was never ugly, it's just that by that time he was waay too old for me lol. He was best looking at this age, still sweet looking. He said in about 1988 i think that he couldn't be with the same people for more than a couple days at a time or he'd be bored/annoyed by them-- yeah he seemed a bit mean once he got the fame. And he said at one point he was smoking 25 joints a day and was partying hard in the 80s and later on, so no doubt he was into other drugs too. Nobody just dies randomly at 53 (unless you're in the 1800s or something). He was probably into a lot of pills and drugs, just like Michael Jackson, Prince, Whitney Houston, David Bowie. There's a reason they all died so young. Although I see what you said about how illness takes a toll on health/looks
I think he had a mean stage around Faith era, but to me always seemed kind and some said shy. I never much liked him at all during Faith, but before and after he was/is amazing. He was at his loveliest in Wham, I agree.

I always felt so bad for Andrew, getting such a bad rap for not contributing. I could care less if he could sing or play guitar. He brought George out into the light, gave him confidence, encouraged, supported. George said in more than one interview just HOW MUCH he missed Andrew when he went solo. I read accounts from him of how angry and alone he felt......so to me Andrew is THE most important friend of George's, along with David Austin.... It's a shame the two of them couldn't be so influential at the end of his life as they were at the start but still.....they are top notch in my book!

EXACTLY!! I read that same thing from George. I wish I could ring Andrew and let him know how wonderful he should feel about himself. You can hear his voice start to crack a couple times during the BRIT tribute. I read he had such anxiety doing it, that for all of them that's why they had the paper to read from. Definitely a shame that neither George or Andrew got the respect they deserved. Both of them, even just starting out were so very intelligent. Right there Andrew exposed the real 100% difference between himself (he has said he was lazy back then) and George. George would never think of his music as "disposable" but that's because he puts everything he has into it: writing the songs, arranging them, producing them, playing the instruments on the recordings, singing all the songs - while Andrew did...what? Yes, I know they were great friends but this is actually surprising to hear Andrew say something so disrespectful for all the work George did - which was ALL the work. And, obviously, his work was not disposable as we are listening to it 30 and 40 years later. I just can't get over Andrew saying that.

He said he always wanted to get both of them pierced and then Andrew did, but he knew his dad will get mad at him if he did. then after he got signed he went out and got both of his ears pierced and he went home and sat at the table with his dad and his dad didn’t say anything and he thought his dad probably thought that that was a normal thing to do once you were in the music industry. LOL

I tell you what, I'm a 67 year old woman and George was pretty here. I could have understand how people would have thought that. He grew up to be one of the sexiest, good looking, gourgeous man. George always kept the maleness about him. I think for me, that was the his appeal. He made a black suit scream with joy when he wore it. He made straight men look plain. He was talented, sexy as hell, drop twice dead gorgeous and he made clothes look good, not the opposite. He just got better looking over time and lost his boyish looks and boy he came out as one of if not the finest man on the planet. He never lost his masculinity. I don't care who he slept with, he was all male.

I have a feeling that the person who said you could tell he is gay here hasn't been to Britain because if you lived in London as I did, you would see that all British guys seem effeminate by American standards and so what some Americans interpreted gay guys as being like. As someone who has spent a lot of time in LA's gay area (West Hollywood) for 25 years I can tell you that hardly anyone there seems effeminate and hardly any of the gay people I've ever known fit any of the stereotypes, so gay people don't fit the stereotype.

That’s funny that they said that they are not at all the way that they portray themselves as being in the video, because back in the 80s the whole point of portraying yourself that way was so you would sell that idea to the public, especially the kids, so you would have people latching on to the idea of who you were so people would want to live vicariously through you. They remained close friends, to the end. Andrew was asked to do George's Eulogy, and said he couldn't,. it would be too emotional.
