Thank you so much for giving space for different lives, circumstances, history, genetics, culture, all of it. It's so disheartening to hear only motivation and discipline touted as the ingredients to rapid language learning success, usually from people who are still college students themselves.
Personally, I've been struggling MIGHTILY with the language in my country of residence for years. I have no shortage of motivation in the form of obligations and need to interact, but I have trouble finding any joy in it with people shaming me left and right for not having already gotten fluent "by now." I've recently picked up an "easy" language as a hobby and have been making a point to keep it secret. It's honestly so refreshing to give my brain the feeling of accomplishment without any sense of obligation.

yes, we should factor in other elements when we talk about learning, and i believe it's important to give space to it. i'm guessing your slight struggle comes from having an external motivation (having to learn the language of your country of residence) but not so much an internal motivation (learning it because you actually enjoy doing it). sometimes, when we "have to do something," it's harder to do it than when we "get to do something."
i'd really encourage you not to listen to the people saying you should be "fluent by now" and instead focus on how to enjoy the actual learning. every journey has its own pace. take advantage of the fact that you're living in the country-try having small talks as often as you can and listen to random conversations, as i'm currently doing with my learning hungarian :)
and, of course, learning something new always feels good, and i'm glad you're giving language learning another chance with another language! you should feel proud of yourself!

thank you so much for the comment! do you mean voice as in the sound (volume) or as in the intonation/ communication style?

Your voice is fine to me, just the mic and there is some echoing, but nothing wrong with your voice maybe the recording setup could be improved.
