In this video, we show you how we, quickly and easily, graft fruit trees. We used the Orchen grafting tool. The tool is a lot easier to use if you don't have experience with a grafting knife. The downside of the tool is that it's limited on the size of root stock and scion.
I think you were wise to show us how you graft, with the tools you use, and let us know there are a gazillion other ways. We can watch those videos ourselves. Thank you for this video!
I currently have 3 apple trees planted in ground from seeds from apples from the store. Two Pink Lady and a Fuji. While they do not grow true to seed, and may produce poor fruit, the plan is to graft known types onto branches, leaving one branch from the root stock to see what it produces. You never know, right? Worst case scenario...you cut it off.
I want trees with three or four varieties on one root stock (or more, of course) for the improved cross pollination. This way, I can keep on planting trees in my yard, grafting onto them, and then growing more to see what I get.
LOL @ having Ripley's on speed dial!
As soon as I typed that, it occurred to me that a lot of people younger than us might not know what "speed dial" is. LOL
Thank you looking fowar d to update

You made me laugh so hard. I love your comment abought the walking in a store with a mask on and not getting shot. I felt real odd walking into a gun store or bank. Just didn't feel right. Your the umpteenth video I have watched on grafting and the BEST. So simple and to the point..... Thanks
Ah! Grafting! So maybe I'll try this myself with the linden tree I want to move.
You might be able to graft to basswood.
But it's better to grow one from seed, buy a bare root tree in January, wait for shipping season $15
You definitely need to do a review of that grafting tool.

buy a knife with a wedge blade. Cleft grafting knife or garage sale oldie.
Paul Gauchi uses cheap electrical tape from Taiwan for his grafting. It keeps water out, and absorbs heat (black tape) to help the graft form. As the tree grows, you know electrical tape. By the time tape is no longer necessary, the sun has baked it enough to crack off on its own.
I also like to use rubber bands, but I like to get them as tight as possible.
I use toilet flange wax and cover with duct tape with the variety written on it.
And I try to sit on a stool rather than a concrete floor.
Please post a follow up with the trees growing
Anything involving propagation of apple has my interest. I'm from the Caribbean, a region where apple is not suppose to grow! Can you advise on how to transport apple seedlings from a long distance, successfully other than in sealed plastic? There's this apple variety that does well in all weather conditions that I try to bring in from Kenya but I lost all the plants through rotting.
Where do you get root stock? Nursery? How do you z know what kind to buy?
Hello! I’m curious what soil material you used to pot the rootstock and how long do you keep them in the pots before transplanting outside? thanks!
Have you had any success taking the rootstock cutting and tried to root it for another rootstock? The part you cut off the rootstock
We’ve never tried that ...but I think we might have to give it a shot.
How do you make rootstock from existing rootstock? Do you let it grow and then airgraft it or something?
I hope the dissimilar thicknesses don’t cause problems. Please post updates . I’m very curious how this method will come out . I want to do some grafting. Where’d you get your root stocks ? Can you add the book in the description that you recommended? Thanks for sharing 👍
The rootstock is from Century Farm Orchards - centuryfarmorchards.com. The book is Trees of Power by Akiva Silver - he also has a nursery in upstate NY and sells cuttings, seeds, and perennials. The name is Twisted Tree Farm - www.twisted-tree.net. I believe you can get his book on his website, he also has quite a bit of information there too. Good luck!
He got 20% to survive, at best.
Use a knife. No gloves. Parafilm.

I remember the first time I saw a masked person going into a bank! I mean...a BANK! LOL Good Night! Sin made America stupid.
These sheers do not work!
Do not listen to him!
Sacadura is very good.
He'd be lucky if 20% of them live.
Scam video.
