Great video. I honestly love these kinds of videos where someone gets to talk about several different games in some detail. And as someone who grew up with almost all of the games in this video, I'm pretty happy to remember them today.
@@garfieldkermit I'd say my favorites here are easily Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Ace Attorney Justice for All, Final Fantasy III, and Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn (which I'm very glad I still have a copy of to this day). But overall I like almost all of the games you mentioned here, the Nintendo DS and Wii were really the best in that year.
what a delightful slice of history! i had no idea all of these games in particular were all from the same year! it would actually be interesting to see a video series exploring nintendo's different years
Thank you so much, and don't tempt me since there's a good chance I might follow this up! ONM have similar issues for different years, so if I'm in the mood I could easily do this for another year!
Thank you! Yeah it was a really weird time, and it's funny that even though Nintendo still has the 'kiddy' reputation people just don't really seem to care anymore lol
Bro, this is fire. I always loved the Wii since a young kid, and I didn't know about all the games covered. I really appreciate all the effort that went into this video. Hope this comment helps boost you in the algorithm!
Love this video! But I was surprised at you not mentioning Disaster Day of Crisis was made by the Xenoblade developers MonolithSoft! It's such a fun switch for them to go from gritty action disaster game from such a big JRPG, though now that you mentioned Reggie hating disaster, maybe that's why xenoblade took so long to come to the americas...
I completely missed that, but now you say it that makes complete sense! Even the render of Ray I used in the video looked familiar, but now I realize it's because it's almost the exact same style as Xenoblade! Thanks for pointing it out, and I'm glad you liked the video! 💜
i wasn’t that conscious during this era. I was too young to own a console around that time. but thinking about how much vidya games were oriented towards young straight male and nintendo being hated for it catering to non-gamers (majority of population) seems so frivolous and unnecessary those same gamers made developers make copy and paste of gritty shooting games in the ps3/xbox era. it seems like we progress so far from this era as it feels like eons ago now.
Definitely, I just wanted to focus mainly on Nintendo since that's what the article I was covering was on, if I find a magazine about PS or Xbox from the same year I might do a comparison :)
Funnily enough halo 3 came out in 2007, and completely eclipsed all these games for the next few years for the mainstream gaming audience. The only people who cared about the wii back then were kids who didn't have access to real games because their parents wouldn't let them play anything that featured a gun
I was about to comment this. Halo 3 was the king of gaming in 2007 and the next couple years. It’s similar to how the GameCube is idolized when it’s one of the worst performing consoles in sales. I like my GC but it was like having a ps vita vs a DS

Glad to hear you recognised a lot of these games! Any favourites? 👀

@AlanBorges-b7b Great taste, it really was a good year for both consoles! Also, lucky to have Radiant Dawn, I'm very jealous 😁

This video does a great job of summarizing the feeling of being a nintendo fan in this era. Insecurities and all.

Being a Nintendo fan in the Wii U Era was this tenfold.

Man I really hate myself for being a sony pony at the time.
Oof…. Idk man there were so many good games in 07 really 03-08 on PS and Xbox
