Sabrina's success story this year truly is the definition of how hard work, patience, and determination will pay off! Seriously, she went from being an under-the-radar Disney star with 4 albums that didnt do much in terms of numbers to then receiving an egregious amount of hate and death threats over some petty relationship triangle drama to NOW HAVING 2 GLOBAL #1 SINGLES AND PEOPLE SCREAMING THE LYRICS TO HER SONGS ALL AROUND THE WORLD!! That is truly spectacular! She's really had that main pop girl status potential for a while now, and I couldnt be more happier that people (including me cause I hopped on the train late too LMFAO) are FINALLY starting to realize that! 😊
Honestly, I think between the patience and the hard work was also a matter of timing. Sabrina always felt either right ahead or slightly behind but now she’s right on time! I’m genuinely glad she’s gotten her justice though. The lopsided hate she got during 2021 was just… not it. Re: being late (which happened to me), better late than never!!!
I think all of Sabrina’s albums are incredible and I think her success is well deserved. I just strongly resent the fact that she got a lot of hate before her album release and new found success. She didn’t deserve that.

I think she really found herself authentically with the emails album. When she was rolling out the Singular Act albums, I've always felt some of the songs were forced despite a couple of them being fairly successful singles (the Saweetie collab, Diamonds Are Forever, Sue Me song, Almost Love, last two I heard on the radio a lot during its time) and she was trying to fit into what other pop acts were doing.

I need you to do a deep dive of emails i can’t send. It’s honestly one of the best pop albums of this decade and the way she named the deluxe version “emails i can’t send fwd:” is just so unserious yet so clever at the same time. Definitely a no-skip album

THUG is one of my favourite books so I was BEYOND gagged to find out she was in the adaptation. But it also shows a lot of her unexpected charm since despite Hailey being a thoroughly unlikeable character, she just brings the character some life that makes her somehow easier to like. She has a really subtle IT factor.
wow - its crazy how a "rebrand" combined with a matching song sound is KEY - she blew up with this new pink pop princess look and it FLEW - her blonde playful look really made a difference, just goes to show how important the brand and look of a singer is for commercial success
I think the aesthetic change def helped but the timing of the music for sure was a key. She was already making fun sounding pop right as we pivoted back into it.

I’m the same age as Sabrina, and I’ve been listening to her since I was 15 when I found “Eyes Wide Open“ on UA-cam! It really is cool to see Espresso make her such a viral phenomenon, and she so deserves it for her really exceptional vocal talent and overall aesthetic!

I already loved “Girl Meets World” & the song “Can’t Blame A Girl For Trying” & “Adventures In Babysitting” but 2016 I felt like her music was actually good & worth listening to. This album “Evolution” sealed the deal for me I’ve stayed a fan & will continue to be a fan. I’m glad she’s FINALLY getting some recognition

Island probably will, but it’s down to respective management. I think Sabrina’s team (with some new players involved) will do well, Chappell’s clearly overwhelmed but thriving (saw a video of her being shook while performing at the size of her crowd.

Don't forget about her on Alan Walker's 2019 song "On My Way". In my opinion that feature really changed her reputation from a Disney singer into a proper pop singer as she absolutely nailed the pitch and lyrics. I think it was by far her most popular song at that time and by far her most popular song on UA-cam and still her second on Spotify.

I saw a girl with a shirt with it on the other day while I was in Miami… she’s the moment!
I've only known her since 2022 because of randomly getting her mv of because i liked a boy recommended and then checking out her album eics out afterwards. I wasn't completely in the loop when the driver's licence stuff happened but after getting to know her story, i have been rooting for the this woman ever since. She's been working hard for so long and the first time she got mainstream attention in recent years, it was because everyone was painting her out to be as a homewrecker and olivia's worst enemy and sending her so much hate, it's amazing to me that she managed to handle all of that with the grace that she did even tho she had every right to be pissed off. Now in 2024, it seems like the world is finally catching up to what many carpenters knew since her early days, what i knew in 2022 when i first saw her mv and heard her gorgeous voice; Sabrina Carpenter is a star. So glad She's beginning to get her flowers.
2022 was honestly a perfect year to get into her: EICS dropped, tickets for her tour were actually accessible, and she was killing it quietly. I fear for Tuesday’s presale 💀
For a long time I think Sabrina just wasn't the "look" the music industry wanted to push. I think it was more so Doja Cat and Ice Spice. But Ice Spice failed to make an impression and then T-Swift took Sabrina under her wing instead. Like clockwork. That seemed to stick more. (Tyla is also the look / genre they're trying to push but she's promising so she is likely here to stay.) Granted some people were still walking past Sabrina during her opening sets, but I think her current label is actually doing their job and pushing her, and that helped make Espresso go viral. Utilizing TikTok also helped because that's how everything goes viral. just lots of viral tracks with short lifespans.
Tyla needs to blow up beyond Water, loved her debut! Nut yah, Sabrina genuinely has that factor that just needed some cultivating.

Great video! As a Sabrina fan since 2016 who's seen her live twice, I have to say you really did a wonderful job summarizing her career in retrospect. I've been very emotional lately seeing how she's turned into a household name, she truly deserved this years ago! I was always a little grumpy "Sue Me" wasn't her breakout single back in the day lol but I'm just glad she's getting recognition one way or another.
Sue Me was such a potential hit. Her last label… ugh… they really didn’t know how to market her at all. I had to secure those tour tickets for this era even if it’s a steep climb from last era.

ahhhhh thank you for walking through her world. ive been a dedicated fan since 2016 and her history is so fun and interesting. i remember smoke and fire coming out, the rollout of evolution, and following the de-tour like it was yesterday. singular is still one of my favorite projects of hers. it sucks that the thing that brought her attention was childish drama and not her genuine talent.

i've been a fan for quite a while, loved her on girl meets world & evolution was the first album i bought on apple music (lmao i never really bought anything before but i wanted to support her), and the de-tour in orlando was the first concert i ever went to by myself! i really appreciate all the research you did on this video, it's so crazy to see how much she's grown and how much she's going to grow from here on now. still sad she never got a true broadway run bc i know that's always been one of her dreams, but at least she technically did it for like 2 shows 😭 i remember 2 years ago when emails i can't send was released, i bought a signed cd and those didn't sell out for at least a week or more... she just released signed vinyls of short n sweet yesterday and it sold out in 8 minutes 😭 so happy for her as a long time fan but dang now it's ruining my chances to get her merch and her tour tickets are going to be a blood bath asdfja;lks

About skin, I wouldn't say it *isn't* a disstrack entirely, however i definitely wouldn't say it's a disstrack about olivia, or even joshua for that matter. the lines in the song that do directly reference olivia or the drama itself, are so forgiving and understanding, "maybe blonde was the only rhyme" "maybe we could've been friends if i met you in another life" she's literally giving excuses as to why olivia didnt mean it like that, or for this to happen, and i feel like skin is more-so a "disstrack" about the media and the internet, in the same vain as vicious and even because i liked a boy is, and saying that the media can't get under her skin with all the homewrecking allegations and name calling.
*side note, i also heavily agree that skin probably wasn't a great choice to release at the time, and if because i liked a boy was written by then, it would've been a much smarter choice, however skins a great song so yk what, i'm not complaining about it being released!

@@EljohnMacaranas honestly i didn’t even think about that but yeah, i more meant it as the fact that she released a song that so heavily reads as a diss track against olivia when the internet already hated her for “wrecking” olivia’s relationship, although now that you mention it, it is generally such a shame that her first experience as an artist outside of hollywood records and disney channel was having the internet hate her and call her horrible things, it can not be easy having to in some ways start all over and rebrand yourself in the midst of all that. to be fair though, a lot of the best disney stars had controversies post disney channel and they turned out great, so as unfortunate as it is, scandal does actually help an artist sometimes.
Espresso reminded me of teenage dream (Katy Perry) . Just the way the video looks and the sorta vibe. I think she would be really similar to Katy. Fun, versatile, and capable of having depth when wanted
That last part is why I think she’ll have longevity, like when she goes deep, she really does have substance. Sure everyone is “me espresso” now but when she comes for us with a newer ballad or a darker track, she’s already had years of experience!

I agree with pretty much everything you said about ‘emails i can’t send’. Already Over is such a standout for me, as is Tornado Warnings. Honestly, the whole album is great. I typically don’t buy newer albums in vinyl but this one of the few that I own.

I love Sabrina so much she definitely deserves all her success because she has worked so hard to be where she is now and I'm glad she is finally getting recognized for it. Sue Me is my favorite Sabrina song it's so catchy. Honestly Renée Rapp really reminds me of her because of her sense of humor which in my opinion is a great sign for her future. I'm also gonna hold you to that promise for a video on Hailee I know I bring her up all the time because I genuinely love her so much she is so underrated her songs Afterlife and Coast are 2 of my favorite songs of all time they are so good. Also I know you probably don't care but I'm finally going to my first concert in October I'm going to see David Kushner and I'm so excited

@@EljohnMacaranas I saw in an interview that she isn't working on new music and she is focusing on acting sadly because she is very talented. Another reason she probably doesn't release music is I know she has had problems with her record label. I mean literally when Half Written Story came out her record label commented on her post about it and she replied asking if they were gonna post about it (Speaking of Half Written Story where is the second part honestly if she isn't gonna release an album at least release the second part girl come on give us something)
Smoke and Fire was the song that got me to start listening to Sabrina back in 2017! I'm so happy at her success.

Wow, I had no idea about her history in the music industry! It sounds like she just had a lot of bad luck with labels and stuff. I admire her drive and not giving up, cos look at her now! I’m generally more of a metal/rock chick, but this year I’ve found myself listening to more pop girls. I’m gonna go listen to Sabrina’s stuff from the beginning now to hear her progression myself lol.
The progression is so fascinating and it is admirable how she kept at it when a lot of other artists definitely would’ve quit.
i only started listening to her stuff recently and i'm sad that i didn't find her sooner, she's so talented! the only thing i knew about her before was that whole olivia driver's license thing and thought the whole thing was dumb

Ive loved sabrina since she was on disney. I thought she would become mega popular with Singular acts 1 and 2, but that era ended up being a mess because she was trying to break from her label and it had to be split into two parts and when she went on tour for it she was singing songs that werent released yet. Im happy shes getting her flowers now but i wish she got them earlier. I was crazy excited for emails i cant send when she was rolling out the singles and promoting it but i didnt think it would get huge because of how her music performed in the past. Im so happy for her❤❤

Although I haven’t been around since the very beginning of her career (I’m 23 and Girl Meets World came out just a few years after I got too old for Disney Channel, so I didn’t know her from then), I discovered her music in 2018 and I’ve been a fan ever since. I loved her Singular project- still my favorite albums of hers-and wanted to go to one of her shows during that era but no one I knew was a fan of hers at that time-oh how the tables have turned. During the Olivia Rodrigo beef I really felt for her with all the petty hate she got; seemed like she was an easy target as at the time she didn’t have anywhere near the star status as Olivia. It’s very gratifying to see her get her moment now! I’ve been drawn to her work as it’s more unique musically and lyrically than a lot of the pop genre. Her recent music has been more ‘mainstream’ and admittedly therefore a bit less to my personal taste, but it’s really cool to see her getting the recognition she deserves. It’s always a bit bittersweet when a lesser known artist that you are a fan of becomes mainstream, on the one hand you are incredibly happy for them, and on the other you kind of wish you could still gatekeep them because it’s sort of cool to be in this small club of people that recognize talent without massive fame behind it.
That last part has been my attitude about Charli XCX as of late but I’m just glad that recognition is happening. Like honestly, seeing someone you’ve spent some time rooting for like do the things they want and become the people you always believed they were… nothing more magical.

I got exposed to Sabrina's talent when I first saw her performed live at the Era's tour. Her live vocal is undoubtedly amazing plus she's so damn gorgeous. I'm glad she gets the recognition she deserves now
