- Hours after Russia launched its attack, Ukrainian leaders are urging the United States and NATO to provide support. In an emotional interview with CBS News, Ukrainian Parliament member Halyna Yanchenko spoke about conditions in the capital and pleaded for help for her country: "Please save our people. Dozens of people, maybe hundreds of people, might be murdered tonight," she said.

One of my greatest fears is just having my life taken from me in a flash. Literally hours ago of me writing this comment, this was the fate of citizens, wives, husbands, and children. I don't want these people to be living in fear at every second, I pray that this chaos will come to a close, ASAP.

@@Lxvyq. I think that what you mean is: The Russian People as a group are innocent. The average Russian citizen is not trying to lift arms against other countries. This might be partially true, but the Russian military is composed of average Russian citizens. Putin is supported by a number of older generation people in Russia and they are okay with what is being done to Ukraine. They also supported Crimea invasion, Georgia invasion, planting troops in Belarus... and other such events which some would say are all war crimes.
Ukraine needs better support than what the so-called free world has provided so far.
Watching this segment on the news earlier brought me to tears. Though it was heartening to hear shortly afterward from a reporter in Russia, that many independent people in Russia are coming together in open letters describing to their fellow citizens how Putin is lying to them to justify attacking Ukraine, and how it’s going to hurt their own people as well. (They are possibly risking their own safety to say these things.)
As far as SWIFT, I can understand why western nations need to be unified in taking many of the same steps together when it comes to sanctions, Putin cannot as easily retaliate against many powerful nations together, so that is important. I just hope we and other nations will do everything we can to stop his unreasonable, tyrannical, and tragic efforts.

Actually, there is not one country that has said it is going to provide Ukraine with military assistance. They are banking on long term sanctions. It will not stop the immediate killing. No one is being negative, just realistic. Could matters change? Perhaps.

@@elgato3504 Negative? In what way am I negative? I thought I was neutrally realistic. I'd like to know what this O.P. and a bunch of other people who are commenting on this video are planning to do. I suspect nothing... except comment, of course. Maybe one of them has some insight or some plans that the rest of us don't and they'd like to share some BIG PICTURE thoughts. Heck... I'm even turned off to donating money to the refugees because I'm so suspicious that the funds will all be stolen by fraudsters.

All this time I was thinking that I was merely born into the wrong place and time and would have been 'at home' amongst the Greatest Generation (U.S. born 1900-1924) who actually made things happen, were less selfish, laid their lives on the line by fighting WW2, established one of the strongest economic booms in the history of man, and didn't have any social media to show off with.
