Great video, helped me lots, successful SSD upgrade. I was able to get the HDD out without taking the two small flex cables out, removed keyboard and was able to gently remove HDD. I must get more experience remove this type of small cables, there did not seem like there was a flap or an easy way to remove, did not want to pull the cable a brake, I did that once before and it cost lots more to repair. TY again for a easy way to upgrade.
Thanks so much!! Saved me from a real disaster!!!!!!! Just bought one to find Window 8 was corrupted or something. now to put it back together, eep!! subbed/liked!
Thank you. Just learnt how to reconnect keyboard as I found it disconnected after my friend hit the laptop. I did not know the connector can be open/close.
Looks complicated. Would it perhaps be any easier with the Lafité laptop? It has room for two hard drives so I'm thinking of one day swapping the main hard drive for a solid state then using the old one for storage, if possible. They must be pretty small hard drives to fit two in such a thin laptop. One last thing, I hope you (or someone) keep some of these faulty hard drives as they are often good enough for storing files like pictures, backups, etc.
Mrvideosandgames not too difficult to do compared to some. Faulty hard drives go for recycling, you'd have to be nuts to use a drive that is corrupting data for backups.
Brue Computing Really? My dad's desktop was getting blue screens and all sorts of stuff, even after reinstalling Windows so he just used a different hard drive for the OS and used the old one for backups. Anyway, it's all good if some laptops are easier - presumably this one is as there's plenty screws on the bottom and the keyboard doesn't look removable.
i just opened their E5-531 to take a look at the RAM and...yeah, infuriatingly hidden compared to this model. It looks like they learned alot and then implemented it. Anyone who has this model, count yourselves lucky that you don't have the other ;) Plastic snaps and tons of screws are still annoying, but man, I wish I didn't have to remove the motherboard to get to the RAM ;)
Much more involved than I'd expected, so this video will be invaluable. Thank you for a most excellently presented guide! :D

Did you copy the hdd over to the ssd or did you install windows from scratch?
Appreciated, based on the video, successfully upgraded.

thank you helped me please add a video on how to replace a screen. thank you again
Dumb design. It is much easier to remove HDDs in 90% of other laptops.
jo hho Sadly quite common now though - often a simple access panel could make things much easier.
Since I was given one of these laptops and it DOESN'T WORK, I'm NOT gonna bother taking it apart to scrap the Hard Drive!!
