This is the time of holidays, a lot of these are tourists, rest of the Serbia visiting, shoppin, migrants, but when school starts, there's even more people, with couple of schools near by. A lot of kids have to pass trough two times a day, to get to the bus near by, connecting othe parts of the city. Amd they move in packs :) Was once one of those :)
We generally have a laidback mentality, and prefer hanging out to almost anything, so straight after work u go out and socialize. Gotta use up the free time properly

The author is referring to World War Two, when the Croatian Nazis killed between 700,000 and a million Serbs, Jews, and Roma, but mostly Serbs. That was the true genocide. What happened in the 1990s was nothing compared to that. Anyway, they have repainted that.
The only ones who have a smile on the streets of the city are foreigners and very young people. The others don't have a smile. It's a long and sad story.
