rammy award winners Julian Marley and Alexx Antaeus have fiercely pushed back at suggestions that the 'Marley' name guarantees recognition from the Recording Academy. In an exclusive interview with THE WEEKEND STAR on Thursday, Julian made it clear that he was tired of the argument, which he said has no foundation in fact. He said his dedication and drive are key ingredients to his success and not because he's the son of reggae legend, Bob Marley.

The Marley's have many things working to their advantage: they have name recognition, understand how the Grammy process works, and do a style of Reggae that those voting readily identify as Reggae. For the foreigners voting, Bob is the sound and face of Reggae; his kids (with the exception of Damian) imitate that sound and look to a tee. (Sometimes you wonder where the originality and creativity are). That's hard for Reggae artists, especially if they are Jamaicans, to compete with, no matter how incredible their projects are.

Rohan looked a lot like Bob when he was playing football, Julian as a kid looked just like Bob, Ziggy is damn near his clone lol. Kymani, has his smile, Robbie is shy like Bob, Stephen sounds like him the most. They all share those traits of him the strongest.

Again, if a random person put out the same albums that Juju has, would that person have won a Grammy? Would that person be "working" internationally? More than likely not.

2019 is No proof re Grammy wins Julian. Coffee was too dominant, plus certain people behind the scenes. To give Julian in 2019 over Coffee would have been a Blatant confirmation of Marley dominance according to the critics.

If they changed their name and won, I would respect them more. You telling me if his name was Julian Smith he would have won? They seem to be hanging on their fathers coattails, living off the legacy of his great talent. To tell the truth, I don’t really know any of Julian’s songs. And I hear that the Marley’s have won 12 Grammys since 2000, but Berris never win one? Tarrus Riley never win one! Jah Cure! Vybz Kartel! Sizzla! while Ziggy win bout 7, without having 7 hit tunes.
Damian deserves his flowers, especially as he’s not a imitator like the others (not one of them sound like Rita???) And with more Marley’s coming every year, they probably going to win the next 48 out of 100.
