Okay this is how i see it. If the pokemon is Legal (Meaning it can have the combination of moves + abilities + evs it has.) Whether or not its illegitimate its fine. I personally think tournaments should be based on the player's skill and knowledge of the game instead of their time. Which is personally why i play pokemon showdown. It rewards knowledge of the game instead of just how much time you have. Yes its against the rules. However it's fine in my opinion. Illegitimate =/= illegal.
Keep exposing the cheaters. I’ve played Pokémon since the beginning which shows my age but I love Pokémon and cheating is an absolutely terrible moral mind set.
Shocked how half the comments find cheating ok... i love the missingno glitch as much as anyone who likes gen1 but when you cheat in any pvp situation only says you really suck at the game lol
What? I had always assumed that Pokemon VGC would have endorsed and even provided their own tools for injecting mons. By what justification is relying on RNG and thousands of hours of grinding in the spirit of competitive battling? Competitive Pokemon should be about the battler's skills... not the fact that they got lucky finding a 31 Speed IV, Hidden Ability sweeper. The fact that you refer to this as "evil" is ridicoulous. This isn't cheating, this is exactly how competitive battles should be. Showdown has it right.
Nope, Also even with all that Pokemon is still one of the most accessible sports and esports. Still has far less time investment than them. Also training Pokemon is a skill, you would know this if you did it more than 1 time.
@@skeepboppin Oh and also it is cheating by its definition, its not as blatantly obvious but its still cheating. As for the RNG thing it takes an insane amount of that to even play at the super pro scene, all you have to do for pokemon is show up.

Hi I have questions for you that you seem to be able to answer me Having tera raids shinies from Twitch channels is not legit right ? Even tho the rng manipulation is legal and the pokemon itself is legal, he isn't at all legit because you would have not find it in this den without these genned Twitch channels, are these pokemon safe to be used in VGC according to you ? Second question, how is it possible to detect a genned item like an apriball ? I mean for VGC tournaments its obvious that they have tools to detect genned pokemons but how could they detect genned items ? I thought items don't have tracks
Pokemon is quite literally one of the most accessible forms of competition in any sport or esport, you don't need crazy reaction time, no physicality unless you count clicking 3 buttons a turn, and its hardly that expensive compared to other sports or esports. Even pokemon TCG is less accessible since most custom made decks are at least 60$ on tcg player, and lets not talk about pro players spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for their diet alone in professional sports
@Digitoed exactly. If you're spending money to beat Pokémon you're probably a cheater. Because once you purchase the cartridge the only "money" you're spending is time.
@idiotpai3758 that's why they made, some, event moves accessable via breeding/picnicking in recent generations. That and gen 9 mandates the, temporary, forgetting of moves if they can't be learned in Scarlet or Violet or else you can't transfer them. Which likely wouldn't be the case if the community wasn't so toxic.
I attack Pokémon in online raids that have genning websites for a name or trainers with genning websites for names, where's the value in a shiny if you don't find it yourself by hunting for it or randomly run into it? Except that's actually how it worked. The rules have always specified that the Pokemon "in the battle team" could not have been generated or manipulated by external programs or hardware. When you breed a hacked pokemon down, the game generates the stats no differently from a normal breed and you would not pass down any moves that were not possible. The only thing that could be passed down that led to something "impossible" was the Ball that it was caught in, which was not part of the hack check process back then (even if a judge caught it, it wouldn't matter because that was not something they were supposed to check for) and thus illegal ball combinations were not against the rules (which is how Ray got away with it in 2014). They did not put this distinction in the rules until some time in 2018, so up until that point there was nothing illegal about using the offspring of a hacked pokemon (unless of course it was a pokemon that could not be bred). Someone could disagree with it from a moral standpoint, but it *was* legal.
