This original has great layering and mastery of Famitracker. I think you are exceptional at producing creative and ambient sounds over the chords. If I could offer some constructive criticism, I'd focus on inserting an overarching lietmotif or melody to cut through all those awesome layers. In other words, something you could hum. That's what makes a song memorable.
This tune sounds great! To tell you what I thought, it sounded very much like something from a real, published game! I like how you start with the very simplistic arpeggios, and then transition into a faster, more complex song. Sounded very nice. I've tried to do some tracking, but it's difficult to get something that sounds good, but you've really got it down! Keep this up, because it's all great!
Whoa... I'm most surprised with how epic this song proves to be. It definitely is a song I could see in a sort of 'creepy castle' level on the NES. An excellent song it proves to be, and I look forward to more original works!
dude awesome track, u should submit your stuff to game companies, with all the retro revival games coming out or even retro inspired game. classic soundtracks like this are a must.
@FeatheredEden VCR6 was a chip Nintendo of japan used in some cartridges to add sound channels to some games. Search Castlevania 3 Famicom version (japanese name: Akumajou densetsu). And compare with the Usa version of the same game.
Best FamiTracker song I've ever heard. Amazing job! Wow. I'm new to FT, and I wanna upload FT covers to UA-cam. What do blue letters mean next to the notes? Thanks. [I know that blue numbers change the volume, but Idk what letters do] Please respond! Thank you.
It's been 7 years, but the numbers and letters control volume. FamiTracker uses hexadecimal for its volume controls (0-9, then A-F). Hope those seven years have been great, and I kinda wanna see what you've come up with!
Wow...This really made me stop and listen...Music rarely has that effect on me. How long did this take you to make, anyways? Something like this would take me several days and even then it wouldn't be half that good. ^^;
Dylan Hayes yes. there's a thing in-program to convert wav files to work for DPCM. It can take some work to get the sample to still sound alright, but it works.
shinyjiggly Thanks. I think I found that before, but every sound just sounds like "SCHHHHCSXXXFFSSSTRCH!" I guess I gotta do some magic of sorts :P (Magic is easeh)
For some reason it sounds not really like 8-bit even it is. Perhaps some samples are too noisy. It hurts my ear in any case. However most of it is enjoyable.^^
The download link doesn't work. Fix please? I've been wanting to do some famitracker compositions and I'd like to download your ftm to take a closer look at how you made everything sound so beautiful.

i know what ill be listening to for the next several hours lmao
Every month I'm right here listening again.
Every day I'm right here listening again.
This sounds really good! And what's more, it actually feels like it references many of the classic 8-bit sound styles over the years. Nicely done.
I heard the first 20 seconds and instantly thought that this will be good :)
Nearly twelve years later and I keep coming back to this song.
Wow, this is definitely a lot better than the stuff I programmed so far, and sounds really good too! Great work
Immediately fell in love with this one
My god... It's beautiful.

This honestly reminds me of something Black Dahlia Murder would have in the intro of a song. THIS IS SICK DUDE
God, has it been six years already?
I remember listening to this just after Dan published this, and it is still one of my favorite chiptunes ever.
Sounds like something from an NES RPG, like the main antagonist's theme. I love the fadey-out effect parts near the beginning. Awesome original tune.
Castlevania got me into music. This is awesome. Great original work.
Theme of the final boss of The Internet for NES.

Sounds like a final boss battle, Dan. :U I like it!
At first i thought this was a RushJet1 song oO well done sir, well done.
Sounds very beethoven/mozart inspired. Love it
very good, really nice with that bit of eerie feeling at times that makes it even better ^^
Ring Man at 1:28.
I do prefer the more fast paced song, but the whole thing's bloody beautiful. Well done.
Awesome, beautiful song.
Unfortunately the Download seems to no longer exist.
I think it's beautiful.
Very calming too.
Nice work on this, man. I still really enjoy the buildup starting at 1:00.
Very excellent. I like it a lot. I kinda think of an RPG or any game with cinematics in it. And it makes me want to play the game it's in.

I'm imagining this as the opening of a Castlevania-esque game. Awesome.
I can totally see, I mean hear, this in some kind of castle game
I think it could use a bit more variation
Very awesome!!
This is super awesome. Congz to you.
This is final boss material right here

I don't really understand how to get sounds to play from DPCM....
you need an DPCM sample.

how do i get square channels on famitracker
DatBoiZo click on module, then module properties. Change mode (I think it's called) from NES to Konami VRC6
Actually, "square" channels are just what Pulse channels used to be called in old versions of Famitracker.
Do you mind if I put my cover of this on bandcamp?
that would be really cool
