My 2007 mercury is the best truck I've ever owned and have not had to do much to her. ❤ Running board issue is true. I live in Minnesota and all we have is snow and salt 😢
I have a 2007 Mountaineer. I have regular problems with the front hub assembly. Also, the shift interlock control module is recently having problems. Thankfully, I have standard running boards. Those electronic running boards would never stand up to Wisconsin winters. I would rip them right off and never put them back. Thankfully, I don't have to do that. Another 6th problem I would add is the spark plug wells. Somehow, moisture gets down into the wells. So, I have had to replace a number of coil packs and plugs. Yes, I've been warned about the plugs getting broken in the well. Thankfully, I have never had that problem. I always get the Autolite HT plugs and I always use anti-seize on the plug threads. It makes a big difference and I never have problems removing the plugs. Just seems odd how moisture keeps getting in there. Anyways, thanks for the helpful video.

You might want to check out the channels that drain the water out I had the same problem and the issue was that leaves and dirt and debris get stuck in the channels clog it up and it leaks right down into the 4th and 8th spark plug Wells I believe. With this car seems you have to clean those channels regularly to let the water drain out properly maybe just take some compressed air and blow it down the channels or a pipe cleaner and run it down
Still drive an '06 V8 208k. These have been my only problems: heater control valve, water pump, radiator, front wheel hub. The last 20k I've had the 2/3 bump, did a drain and fill. I am afraid to to a replace fluid, filter, valve body seal kit, and solenoid replacement for fear I'll lose it!
BTW, decision to buy used w/132k was owning '05 V8 new > 80k saw dealer 2x . one was from a faulty fuel guage from factory, day 1. And the other: somehow and umbrella jammed under power seat. Both covered under warranty. Thank You Ford. Not too bad for nearing 300k on 2 vehicles.
Dude replace it I got the 05 v6 2003000 I went thru, timing chain, shift solenoid, filter, fuel pump, couple hoses, thermostat belt fan clutch, intake manifold, oil pan gasket, transfer case, all new suspension , tires brakes wheel bearings u joints, front drive shaft, etc glad I'm a mechanic and know how to do these things I saved thousands
A1 has a UA-cam this is awesome. I ordered a wheel bearing form A1 before they included a axle nut torque spec sheet with it and at a good price after that I don’t buy off anyone else
I got stuck in the snow in mine and my awd stopped working and then all of a sudden something let go so now when it's in any gear it just grinds no movement! Any ideas and I've checked the obvious the drive shafts and shit axles etc but I'm thinking I stripped the input shaft? Some how
I have a 2008 mountaineer and my check engine light came on. And I had the code read and it's the shift solenoid. Is there a video on that. Should I take it to a transmission shop or is it something my son can do at home
I keep getting cylinder misfires even after changing the coil packs and spark plugs, had a shop check the compression there is no vacuum leak, any ideas whats causing this? vehicle runs fine so im not sure why im getting misfire codes.....................
It very well could be random misfires under load on the engine. The cause for that could be fuel injectors that maybe sticking every so often. I would try running a bottle of injector cleaner through the fuel system
+Jose Alexis We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
And number SIX Coil Spring Perches Rusting Out and Releasing Dangerous Coil Load at Potentially High Rates of Speed and Causing Loss of Control of Vehicle. I called Ford Directly and they admitted to knowing and said a bulletin had been sent to dealerships and until it became more of an issue, owners replace part's and contact Ford to see if they can remburse them for cost of part's didn't say anything about the cost of Labor.

My 03 mountaneer would not start after work, after a full tank and a jump I drove down the block and it shut off completely. After another jump the vehicle just kept clicking without starting. Any idea what's going on?

What year do you have?
I’ve seen a few Mercury’s on the road. That’s a great attestant to their reliability.

Why is my coolant leaking bad from the back of my 2008 mercury mountaineer v8 awd on the driver's side?

That's an old wives take about not changing tranny fluid. Change it and change it often. Best $ spent on any car
i have a 05 mercury mountaineer 317,000 as of today
I heard they have transmission issues also. And a problem to solve that issue would be replace the coils with good quality ones. Is that true? Thanks
Thank you for this info. Yes, my front driver side floor is making that noise specially, when turning .
A1 has a UA-cam this is awesome. I ordered a wheel bearing form A1 before they included a axle nut torque spec sheet with it and at a good price after that I don’t buy off anyone else
+Old mag Fisher Thanks for the feedback!
Any chance you know how to get the hood latch unlocked once it's stuck 😅
Not easy access from the grill like many cars/trucks
Radiators failing from electrolysis in the coolant are major issues for these and the same generation Explorer.

Could have stripped the splines on one or more of the axles.
