i have watched this like 5 times and anytime i watch i still feel so emotional. Anytime from british army is so special to me. Thanks for making you tube enjoyable.
Just so we are clear. It is true that the cuts in band strengths have been less severe in the Guards Regiments than elsewhere in the British Army - where most of the bands we ever knew have been amalgamated out of existence (including the bands of the Paras, Royal Engineers, Royal Artillery, Army Air Corps, County Regiments and so on, to name but a few). And this is presumably in line with a sad future concept that the Guards will basically provide much of the music for the entire Army. Nevertheless, a quick comparison between BR 2019 and BR 1985 reveals as follows. Massed Guards Bands in general (5 regiments) 170 here as opposed to 220 in 1985. Massed Corps of Drums: 40 here compared with 80 back then. Massed pipes and drums - no comparison as the 2019 event features other Regiments (while back in 1985 we had 60 from the Scots and Irish Guards as such). The figures speak for themselves, but are sad nevertheless. Horse Guards needs a lot of playing musicians to really fill it with sound - hence the interest in guest bands from abroad, non-Guards participants, choirs and so on. Happily the effect is less severe when we have the march-ons and march-offs down Birdcage Walk or The Mall, as these are more enclosed spaces. And of course the quality is high. Hence my greater interest in watching those broadcasts (readily accessible on UA-cam" as opposed to the main shows themselves.
How i wish can i can join these guy but i lack so many things 1. Am in Africa ( Ghana) 2. I have no skills in playing musical instruments plus my age.. My favorites are Grenadier guards( my first love) then Royal Marine Band( the best military band in the world)
Interesting to see Earl of Mansfield come up on the screen as they prepare to do Evening Hymn. Earl of Mansfield was the March On as the Pipes and drums joined the massed bands
Regarding the trooping of the colour the Pipe bands of both regiments are only on parade when it’s a Scots or Irish Guards troop. 2021 is F Coy Scots Guards where you will see 18 pipers and 10 drummers of the Scots Guards 💂
Malcolm H Morrison if you mean the Drum Majors of the Guards band they were, Senior Drum Major Damian P Thomas (GG) Drum Major Scott Fitzgerald (CG) Drum Major Jack Barker (GG) Drum Major Harry Sutton (GG) Drum Major Andrew Crew (WG) Hope this helps you!
These songs sounded the best around Christmas time to me. 😀😀😀😀 💓💓💓💓 💞💞💞💞 💓💓💞💞💞

I like the British pomp and circumstance.
I hope and wish you can celebrate the performance, the year 2020
Health and music
Does anyone know why the Pipes and Drums of the Scots and Irish Guards have not been on parade here or the Trooping of the Colour?
Robert Bell I believe they were both on deployment at the time.
They are on parade when they are available but I think they were sent out to be deployed.
