Best part of this reaction was the way you laughed when he got to, "Daddy never came to my ball games." I cracked up the first time I heard it, and didn't see it as particularly subtle, so it amazes me that the vast majority of reviewers just don't "get" the point he's making with that line. The humor totally goes over their heads for some reason. So I loved that you laughed at that. Perhaps there is hope for humanity after all...
Prejudice is another good one I think we would all like to see your reaction to. Also Tim, if that wasn't clear. It's a funny one!
He's so damn talented and a good human as well. Hard to believe that at this point in his career, he couldn't even read music. Great reaction! More Tim, please!
Of course he could read music. He has a degree in music performance. He's classically trained and formally educated in music. He's also very talented and doesn't need extra clout from Internet rumormongers.
@@jameshenderson15 I'm pretty sure it's just a long running joke lol
@@jameshenderson15 Tim said he only took a couple years of piano when he was around 10 and he was crap at it. His parents said he could quit but before he did his teacher told him what the harmonizing chords were. He taught himself after that. He still can't read music, which is why he said none of the performances are ever played the same way.
He is so fkng talented, he even has the piano doing jokes 😂😂❤❤ Also: Don't let the comedy fool you, the dude is a Rockstar
Just found your channel a couple days ago from your Bo Burnham reactions and absolutely love it. I'm going down the rabbit hole of your videos now and searched Tim Minchin hoping you had some videos on him and couldn't believe this is just from four hours ago. I really hope to see more of these because Tim Minchin has some phenomenal songs I think you'll love.
Edit: Based on your reaction to "From God's Perspective" by Bo Burnham, you'd probably love "Thank You God" by Tim Minchin
Please please please! Great recommendation. Anything by Tim is gold but that's a solid next step.
I had to replay your reaction 5 times when you picked up on Tim's excursion into the Pearl Jam "Jeremy" riff
If you are going to compare Tim Minchin to Elton John, you need to do his 'Mitsubishi Colt'.
Hahahaha I thought exactly the same! It's kinda offensive to Tim 😂😂😂
Such an epic performance, smart, funny and piano off the scale!
Thanks for doing more Tim.
Please please keep doing more 🙏
I will watch multiple times 🤣 and it looks like others in the comments will too 🔥
From your reaction of beauty I'd love to see you do "you grew on me" and or "not perfect" but any Tim Minchin... and there is plenty you'll love 👍
More Tim songs I think you’d like: If I Didn’t Have You, Thank You God, White Wine in the Sun, Not Perfect, Lullaby, Confessions, and You Grew on Me
First time discovering this channel ❤❤ love this
Tim is incredible. He never plays a song the same way twice either. Loving all of your reactions haha
Saw Tim when he was touring with this show in 2009 ..the eyeliner & barefoot years !. He can have you crying with laughter one minute with ' Inflatable You ', then just crying at 'White Wine In The Sun' . He's an incredible wordsmith , musician and yes , comedian .
Oh man!! You've got one hell of a rabbit hole ahead of you my friend! This reaction popped into my feed and I had to watch. Tim is a b e a s t on those keys, but his lyrics can really make the listener think.... (probably one of the reasons "Mr. Sony" didn't go for it.. lol)
I'm not going to list them, because I see you've already had a number of suggestions. One thing I will say though, is that his portrayal of Judas in the stage version of Jesus Christ Superstar, was f**king brilliant! (there are vids on YT) He also did the score for the Netflix musical, Matilda, and for me, as an over 55 adult watching a children's movie, in my opinion it was outstanding.
Like I said, you're at the entrance of a rabbit hole... but it's really cool.
This is the first time I've seen a reaction by you, (I think...), but this made me subscribe as soon as I finished watching. Now, I'm going to go and watch some more of your stuff because you seem to be someone I'd enjoy drinking a beer and listening to tunes with.
Cheers!
Love watching reactions to him from people who weren't familiar to him and see this after some of his other songs thats are also brilliant and show some of his skill on the piano. Then see this and realise how good he actually is it goes up another level if you watch the live version of darkside he performed with a full orchestra and him and a just as talented drummer end up going back and forth trying to out do each other its so good
That was a 10 - surf and turf at a fine dining restaurant. Filet mignon and lobster good sir
What is never talked is Tim is sitting- He doesn’t move, to entertain 10k audience it’s face voice words and piano. The 3 1/2 PIANO I PUT UP TO ANY. Yeah, he was flexing but few catch that - well done. As a Tim fan it’s the reactions that make this fun to me. And love to support. If there’s interest I’d love send you some very very rare Tim - and show how he is the EGOT of Australia, he has mastered it all. Tv. Film stage. Music. Comedy. He has it all
And his end is meant to build applause and build until the slam end and standing O
*really enjoyed moments where you caught the less than obvious- scores kinda go from 8-10 based on taste. If I knew how you like your ribs- I can’t GUARANTEE TIM WILM DELIVER- let’s try! $20 worth just seeing
Didn't like piano lessons and quit when he was about 11 I think. Took up the piano a few years later and he was a natural. Tim didn't respond to being taught music, he had to feel it. Can't read music, it's all in his head
Elton wishes he could play piano like Tim!
Watch mitsubishi colt 😂
Absolute maestro!!!
He is a comedian
Also confessions and lullaby
I heard a little Jerry Lee Lewis in there!! Great Balls of Fire. This guy is rockin it~~
Hey, who requested this crap?! 😄 LOL, thanks for doing my request. Sorry, I'd kinda forgotten how long this song was; to me, it seems shorter because I always get lost in the insane solo in the middle and lose track of time for a bit. Actually, there are other songs of his I like better humor-wise, but I chose Dark Side--obviously--for Tim's virtuoso-level piano "stylizations" (maybe "stylin' and profilin'"?). I agree, it does sorta go on and on, but I'd imagine you wouldn't mind a bit if you were a part of that audience. They definitely got their money's worth.
You asked about a shorter version, so here's another version of Dark Side that is performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. It's only two minutes shorter lol so it might not make your playlist, but it features a hilarious "Dueling Banjos"-style musical battle between Tim and the Orchestra's drummer so there's that, if you want to check it out:
ua-cam.com/video/93xlarTrtiE/v-deo.html.
By the way, TIMPWHIT is a username I came up with years ago because TIMPWHITE, a contraction of my name, was already taken at the school I was going to and I just ended up keeping it that way post-college lol. Fascinating story, I know.
Great reaction as always, but I have just one small comment since I know how much you love people critiquing your scale. Maybe the song as a whole was less than a ten for you, but ya gotta admit that solo was brisket-worthy lol.
LOL!! The instrumental section was 100% on point!!
That's a hell of an awesome comment 👏 🔥 Timothy 👍
@@chasinthetrain4376 Thanks, Train. Your perceptive insight of my awesomeness is much appreciated! 😄
It's not fare to even compare Tim to anyone else. He's one in a billion.
Yes 💯
Your Elton John comment will make you laugh when you watch Tim's "Mitsubishi Colt". The best version I can find I can be found searching for "Tim Minchin "One day you'll be as good as Elton John"
almost a little Victor Borga as well :)
It couldn't be shorter, unless you are the BBC, he made the 3 minute mark, just for them. You cant put a time on proper expression and full psychotic breaks rolled into such control.
I think rock n roll nerd would be something you enjoy.
Loved the reaction! As I'm sure everyone else will have further Tim recommendations, let me recommend you Stephen Lynch for another amazing musician/comedian act (guitar this time!)
"Grandfather" or "Ugly Baby" would be pretty great intros in my opinion!
Hey! I recently discovered your channel!
If you take requests, I would like to recommend Will Wood - an incredibly thought-provoking and talented singer songwriter/musician.
Songs by him worth checking out are "Hand me my shovel, I'm going in", "Love Me, Normally" and "Cicada Days" to name a few. They're quite different from each other in terms of sound, but nevertheless amazing!
Anyway, sorry for the long comment. Have a good day!
Ya gotta check out “Hi Ren” by Ren. Prepare to have your mind blown.
Storm and also Prejudice
There's one other song of Tim's that goes with this perfectly, both slightly autobiographical, check out Rock and roll nerd
Please do Prejudice and Rock and Roll Nerd!
Please react to Tim Minchin’s Mitsubishi Colt and Storm - 2 of his beat poems!!
If this isn't the most epic piece of musical comedy, I don't know what it is 🤣
The longer version is even better. It’s Brilliance with an added dash of, um 🤔lol. Between Tim and the drummer, in this longer version is pure magic
ua-cam.com/video/93xlarTrtiE/v-deo.htmlsi=MjAVOO9z2HuZw0KA
Would love to see some Hardy. "Give Heaven some hell!" and "drink one for me"
You should react to his Pope song!
This may be you, ha!😎😜
You should watch if I didn’t have you and the pope song
6:52 Don't say that to his face! Without spoiling too much I can safely say that he covers those sort of "compliments" in the song "Mitsubishi Colt".
Edit: Not just "those sort of compliments", but that *exact* "compliment"!
Podcast boy.
Elton John and Billy Joel wish they had half the talent of Tim Minchin on the piano.
I don't want to throw around the word genius lightly but I wouldn't be surprised if he was. He since has composed the music for the play Matilda in London and the play Groundhog Day on Broadway. He also was writing for the T.V. show Californication, and last I heard he was writing and acting in another U.S. TV show. He's been around.
He was in californication playing Atticus Finch and you should check out his amazing tv series Upright. Best thing I've seen in decades
There's only one way to describe Tim Minchin..... He's Tim Minchin
@@peterdubois65 Upright... Gotcha. Thanks. Will check it out sometime if I have access to it. (There's so many pay access channels out there now, it's difficult to keep track.)
@@justaguy6129 what country you in mate?
@@justaguy6129 It's on AMC Plus, if you're in the US. Just started watching it, and it's quite engrossing.
Prejudice should be your next reaction
Sorry, I had to add also this one just in case you like the first song I suggested:
ua-cam.com/video/e6raVzrbqrM/v-deo.html
Elton can’t play like that 👏
I like ribs. Well good ribs anyway. 😂.
Elton can’t play like this mate
This is nowhere near as funny as some of his other stuff - Salty, do yourself a favour & listen to “Inflatable You”. Or “Prejudice”. You’ll be in stitches 😂 they’re my go to Minchin songs when I need a laugh.
Elton doesn't have the swag or drip that Tim has. Liberace was a nerd to Tim's Pimp. Billy Joel was close but he just got fat, old, and full.
Uncle salty. I think you’re gonna wanna check out “Ren- Hi Ren” un. Believable. Reactionnworthy. I think you’ll agree afterwards.
He is in Canada right now getting treatment. But just do ya know ya don’t have to block out his video. He’s been showing reactors a ton of love this kid. Is amazing. After hi Ren you’re gonna wanna set aside some time for a bit more lengthy Ren tale of screech Jenny and violet. The trilogy all in one shot. This kid brought tears to my eye more than once watching both. Out of this world talent. All
Around.
Please don't do Prejudice, every single youtuber has a reaction to it and honestly there are far better Tim Minchin gems out there, Storm, his newest song The Aeroplane or Thank you God are all gold
