Hi Diane, out of all the lovely things you wear while filming with a white background this baby blue shirt is stunning on you! Thank you for this lesson. Patterning the collar is new to me but I am going to replay this lesson over and over again until it becomes second nature. I only learn the best from you my dear, and even my other UA-cam teachers follow you! ie Susanne from UK even points out your lessons. Love that you are a Canadian dynamo! XOX Toronto
I am so happy to find you on youtube...I was struggling how to stitch this kind of two piece collar, but you really made it so easy for me. Thank you very much....Bless you
I've been sewing for just a short period of time and I always have a problem with collars period. Thanks for this tutorial. I will just have to continue practicing this method. You make it seem so simple without too many steps.
Merci, Diane. You are.wonderful! I love your voice. I'm a new subscriber and I plan to catch up on all your tutorials. Thank you for sharing your extensive knowledge.
Many, many thanks for this instructive video. If I reduce the height of the collar stand to 2 cm instead of 2,5 cm, so I have to alter the collar? Should I make more slashes or bigger openings at the slashes to make the collar more round?
Diane
Thank you so very much for such a simple and complete tutorial. I love the way u explain. what was the 3mm additional for outside of top collar? plus can you please post a video for how to cut cigarette pants. thank you so much
the 3mm is a minimum extra that we (always, exception with stand collar) add to the top collar, to make sure the seam won't show. when the collar cool down, you ease it in easily when you sew. It could be up to 1cm for easy fabric. I will do pants soon!
thank you so much i like all your video.please can you tell me how many inchs should i take for the neck length and width if i want use collar and collar stand in my shirt(stand neck length and width for) males, females and kids)thanx alot
Hello! Diane, Can you please justify how you take 1.5cm extension in collar band. I mean why 1.5cm ? What if I want to change placket width and then how would I take this extension measurement ?
Hello Pooja, The extension should be the same as the extension you have on the shirt, it is to be able to button all the way up, even the stand collar . On shirt, the over lap ( here 1.5) is not necessarily according to the button it's often a little bigger than the diameter, so your button could be 1cm. Diane
Hi it it possible to alter the neck collar 171/2 size down to 16 neck size collar with a shirt two piece collar there is a back yoke of the shirt alteration. is it possible to with draw the collar and the collar stand are remove a little bit from the shoulder to reduce the neck, kind regards
Hello Ledora, Yes you could change from a 171/2 size down to 16 neck size collar But if you remove the 3/8 inch at the neck and shoulder point, it's going to raise you center back an front, even create little pleat. To see what I mean, just pinch 3/8 double on someone wearing a shirt. You should change it by overlapping all the pattern piece that touch the neck, seam line over seam line. than retrace the neck line (seam line) going more or less parallel to the existing one with the 16 measurement. than look at the new measure back neck and front neck separately, so when you reduce the collar pattern to 16, you could replace the shoulder notch at the right place. Diane
Diane Deziel In the collar band I go down instead of up and what for collar. Do I have to go up instead of down in collar ? Please clear my confusion Diane.
Hi Pooja, the 2 pieces have to move opposite, the stand go up and the top part (the fall) goes down, so when they are in final position they match perfectly. Diane
Thank you for your wonderful videos, they have helped me a lot. I have a question. Since you moved the CF up 1cm, do you have to re-measure the neckline from the shoulder notch? (I'm just curious if moving it up makes the new CF longer? Thank you 😊❤️
I'm not sure I understand the question, maybe get the PDF measure and drawing at toolfully.com and if you still have a question you could send my a hand drawing with it at dianedeziel@gmail.com

Hi mam, it was really nice but I need to know how to measure and make pattern for neckstand and collarstand

Hey, Diane! Can I also make a open collar by this method. What I have to do for open stand collar?
Hello Pooja, the top part of 2 pieces collar is a close shirt collar construction. It going down instead of going up.
Diane
