Ryan, when your playing days are over this is what you should do. You are a natural and made for this.
Thanks for coming back to Duke Mark. Just remember, college is an investment, just like stocks you don’t want to sell your stock early before it’s peaked. Leaving college early rather than leaving once you’ve peaked in college/draft boards you will lose out on significant earnings. You were mature enough to understand this. Hope you can peak this season!
This is a great overall message but doesn't exactly correlate this as in the NBA its your second contract that you make your real money so unless a guy is going to bust staying or going after one year doesn't really matter as long as you have the talent work ethic and right team fit .
@@cameronbolden5064 If you get to a second contract and unless your really good it’s probably a team friendly deal. What you say isn’t untrue, but unfortunately for most guys, the stars just don’t align that way, especially if you get injured.
Let’s do the math on Kyle who might have been drafted late lottery vs this upcoming draft as a potential top 5 pick. Even if he busts and only plays 2 years in the league, drafting at 3 will earn him 9 million more over 2 years compared to drafting at 13 after his freshman year. As you can already see, Proctor & Kyle made very smart decisions.
For first rounders there’s no guarantee after 2 years the team will exercise the third and fourth year options. But it’s still a better scenario than Mark entering the draft as a probable second rounder with no guarantee of playing more than 1 season on a 1 year 500K salary. Put your name in the draft when you have peaked and are absolutely ready, there is no rewind button and if you can’t stay long at least max out on your short term earnings. For some guys, they will make more NIL money staying in college compared to a rookie 2nd round contract.
Think of it this way…. If you end up in the G league making 40K a year after 1 season in the NBA as a second round draft pick then picking the NBA was clearly the wrong major!!!! Earning NIL money to obtain an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business or getting a Law Degree through Duke’s School of Law would have been the smarter and more profitable career choice long term, not basketball….

Wilt Chamberlain's 100 game wasn't televised for one. No footage of the game has since been recovered and no members of the New York Press were at the game. There are only Audio recordings of the game's fourth quarter.
