    Ray Shaw still haunted, but at least he played in grand finals unlike some champion players like Matthew Richardson and Brett Deledio who never got the opportunity. Richo never really got anywhere near it, thrashed in a prelim and out injured the only other time the Tigers made the finals throughout his storied career. 800 goals, 0 grand finals. We love you Richo.

      @@GeneralSunsprite if you were smart, you'd know that Brett Deledio injured his hamstring against the Bulldogs in the Elimination Final which ended up being his last ever game of AFL Footy. Ok spas?

      @11 Tips His name is Mervyn Keane, but he should've won 4 flags because in 1982 Richmond was the far better team but thought the job was done after caning Carlton in the second semi which in those days put you straight through to the grand final.

    Francis Bourke and Kevin Bartlett are the only players to have won all five of Richmond’s premierships between 1967 and 1980 during the Halcyon era of 1966-1982. Michael Roach kicked 288 goals in 65 games between 1979 and 1981 averaging 4.4 goals per game.

    They’re idiots saying he could equal the grand final record with 7. The grand final record was 9 by Gordon Coventry. Gary Ablett equaled it (not broke it) in the 1989 grand final

    Richmond's ''preparation'' for the 1980 GF sounds like an unholy marriage of a Kafka story with Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica. Madness.

    I'm curious, the Collingwood players are also celebrating with the cup. Is that something that was common back in the VFL days or was there something that inspired it in the game.

    • @windingcirclelifesch
      @windingcirclelifesch 4 роки тому +8

      they were Richmond players wearing pies jumpers. It was common back then to swap jumpers with the opposition, i don't know why they did but it often used to be that way.

    • @darrenjray
      @darrenjray 4 роки тому +3

      It was a traditional sign of sportsmanship changed by the almighty dollar. When sponsors' logos started appearing on jumpers from 1975, no doubt clubs were keen for their premiership players to keep wearing their own jumpers post match to appease their sponsors. Carlton, in particular, would have been big on it. In 1987, they even sent players to receive their medals with sponsors' caps on. Sad but money talks.

    • @truefunksoul8638

      Most of the Collingwood players backed Richmond to win by 40+ so the drinks were on them.

    • @dragonoftheeast7572
      @dragonoftheeast7572 3 роки тому

      ALOT of old players that swapped jumpers after winning the flag ALL say they regret doing it .... And they all cringe when they see pictures or footage of themselves celebrating with another clubs Guernsey....so it's not only a sponsorship thing it's also for cosmetics and nostalgics sake👍

    Collingwood lost 4 grand finals in 5 years, as it turned out. [ I wonder what the 5th one was which they are on about ? Maybe the 1970 one. ]. They could claim the superior aggregate performance. But then again, Carlton won 3 out of 4 flags around that time, and 2 out of 3 in that exact time.

    Was on a red rattler on the way home at half time with thousands of other black and white supporters . About 30 seconds in this video is as far as I'll go. I've watched the other losing GF final stories. But this was a slaughter. Tigers were fresh and we fought all the way from 5th. Had no chance really. The scoreboard was reflective of that. The Tigers should have beaten the Blues in 82 as well..The Blues paid a hooker to play with heads of the Tigers, both heads.
