Never heard Pandit Maniram before. Divine composition. And a what a voice. It penetrates into your heart. I can only think of Pandit Omkarnath Thakur reaching this high and still have crystal clear ornamentation.

Pandit Maniram ji gave his best to Pt. Jasraj ji.. the way Pt. Maniram ji is singing in this video.. it took so much practice, age and time to reach there for pt. Jasraj ji.. still I loved the the variations Maniram Ji has given to this Gem " Mata Kalika". it leaves you speechless !! it sounds so impossible !!!
I dont understand why this Doordarshan people always need to hear the audience the fear of time in between the programme!!! These fools should be thrown out of the programme. Salon will telecast so many useless programmes for no reason but alwys want to finish such a valuable programme on Indian classical programme within 30 minutes in oone episode. Why there were no private channel those days or atleat little bit open minded channels like Rajyasabha TV who could extend such programme at least to 2-3 episodes. Shame on these old day Doordarshan administrative berashik fools who had control of everything on the filmmaker without any knowledge or interest on the subject matter of the programme.
And just consider what where the visual’s during the green room practises how many candid videos they could shoot which would lead a different intensity of musical expreince for us we have less than 10-20% what might had been produced
Perhaps the only reason Pt Jasraj achieved greater eminence than his elder brother and Guru Pt Maniram was that whereas Maniramji went strictly by the book as he himself admits in this interview, Pt. Jasraj was innovative and made new experiments. He said in an interview elsewhere that if there was no experimentation, there would be stagnation and death. Growth, change was a sign of life.

Wow!! Pandit Jasraj ji was more talented than maniramji in terms of voice , tonal quality. Having said this , Maniramji was a great teacher & Jasrajji was a better perfomer.
