I don't net mine either. The birds eat some of the elderberries and some black berries but I put out bird seed mixes with dried berries and peanuts for them and they mostly stick to that and play in the birdbath/fountain.
They also keep the bugs in check in the garden. Birds are a gardens best friend.

Luke ya gotta get a couple of American perssimmons and american paw paws. The deer go absolutely crazy for persimmons we have one name brand varity here called deer candy lol. I'm not sure if you can get them in the UK?

Hi Justin, they both don't grow where I am in the UK, however, I have a few established persimmon trees in spain and I'm going to plant some paw paws. Deer candy sounds like a variety I want to grow!
