Great reaction guys! This was the first song i heard of their and had me hooked form the beginning. The bagpipes they are using are a different from Scottish Highland pipe and I think the ones here are Galacian bagpipes. Saw them live a few months ago and they are amazing. They used the Swiss German lyric version of this song which I loved. Next Eluveite (el-u-ve-teh) I would vote for Inis Mona or Omnos.
This song was with the former singer and hurdy-gurdy player Anna Murphy, who was born in switzerland, but her dad is an opera singer from Dublin. She left the band in 2016 together with the guitar player to express solidarity with the drummer, who was kicked out after infightings in the band. These three formed their own band "Cellar Darling". She still has some side projects going on and she is working as a full-time sound engineer. Quite busy lady. As you know, or maybe not, The Call of the mountains is from the 2014 released record "Origins". This record also contains this song in other languages: French, Italian, Rhaeto-Romanic and Swiss German. The latter one is the version i like most.
there are accoustic albums (Evocation 1 and 2) they made :) also they have a bunch of songs in which they sing in helvetic gaulish like Luxtos, Slanias Song, Brictom, Omnos, Epona, Esvs (the accoustic albums in general have a lot of gaulish in them)
Amazing band! Have had the pleasure to witness them live and up close backstage. I would also recommend watching the cover of this song from the Melodicka Bros.
Eluveitie is based on the idea of combining death growls and folk. That's still like that: Eluveitie - Deathwalker - Live at Wacken Open Air 2019 The three spin-offs from Eluveitie: The first female singer to leave the band in anger and do Prog Metal today: Cellar Darling - "Death" Live at UA-cam Space London (March 2019) The second singer whose master's thesis became a symphonic metal side project, the poppy kind: ILLUMISHADE - Beyond The Obsidian Veil & ELEGY (Live @ Z7, Switzerland 2022) Her longtime hurdy-gurdy player wanted to take the microphone herself, but couldn't do it with Eluveitie. That too is symphonic metal. There aren't any good live videos yet because they've only been touring for a short time: LYRRE - North Star (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)
Great song. A real ear worm. You'll be singing that chorus to yourselves all day long! By the way, one more time... it's El-vay-tee (silent u) 😊 Try Exile Of The Gods next. Different singer, but another great song.
Next AIDUS, that is way heavier than this more "poppy" song. I keep recommending this song as it seems you ignore it untill you reacted to it lol. The band became more harsh and more metal without loosing their typical folk sound since Fabienne Erni joined the band and i love that so much, Fabi is my favourite female vocalist together with Simone Simons of course. 😀

I'm sorry but no, that's not how you pronounce this band's name. It's el-VAY-tee.

What does "whoop" means? Just saying the romansh version is more relateble and ancient. Hear this in english its not the same🤷♂️
