Every time I listen to this song, it makes me think that the music was used for a different game entirely. Not to say FFXV is bad as I personally enjoyed the game, but with knowledge of the game with fiction based on reality, it makes my soul yearn for FF verses 13 as I sleep using this song.
Considering it exists in the Fabula Nova universe but took f o r e v e r in production, it wouldn't surprise me if this theme was one of the earlier motifs that was composed, and it just stuck throughout.

my step father got the day one edition of this game. i played arround with it a bit. but i got stuck. now im playing it again and i got hit with the good old "you forgot to save, go back 10000 space". but im gonna restart it, and finish this game. my step dad not dead it was just a plotpoint
Honestly, I did the same first time round. I just didn't "get" XV to start with. Then I watched the Kingsglaive film and went back to it again and the story seemed to just make more sense and it all clicked. I hope you get to the end eventually!

I'm a big fan of the FF8 soundtrack, so probably Eyes On Me. Not the vocal version though, that's a little too twee for my liking lol.
