Thank you for the information I didn’t know you could get the double cd of alternate versions etc that’s all I want so that’s great. I can’t be doing with the album I’ve listened to it multiple times and I really prefer the original
I have to say that the performance at Imperial College from 1970 is now the very first time we can hear Freddie singin live before an audience...very inspiring...then comes the live at Golders Green Hyppodrome, i think..🤔( which is from 1973..)
@@viesiits4264 i have got it but that is a cover. Eventually for me the presence of Jesus sung in 1970 at the Imperial college is worth the entire price of the box..
I streamed the remix earlier. The drums remind me of the scene in Boogie Nights where Dirk Diggler is asking the producer if the bass is taking away from the vocal, except this time Roger is saying are the vocals taking away from the drums?
People with all respect to everyone If you don’t like it don’t listen to it don’t buy it and stop complaining and just listen to the old one and problem solved.
Stop complaining everyone the sound is brilliant especially Rogers drums if the technology is there and it makes it sound better than why not fix it ? I’m loving this box set ❤
@@zowieknox People are not complaining, it’s just that when you’ve been listening to an album for 50 years or however long, sometimes it’s a shock to hear a new remix and while some elements are powerful and interesting, they’ve managed to take the spirit and homelessness out of it. The original is the sound, like it or not, and this remix is an experiment that’s up for scrutiny. I’m taken aback by the lack of bass I must say. I’ve been listening to this album since 1985 and I’ve never had an issue with how it sounded on any format I’ve had it on. Time will tell, if the new mix is as good as Queen Productions claim then it may be my go to, if not it will be left on the shelf!
@@zowieknox Nobody’s moaning and everyone’s entitled to their opinion. It’s sounds less natural now in certain parts, that’s all. If you’re happy with it then that’s great.
They should have honoured the memory of the late Queen Elizabeth II by adding her favourite Queen song as chosen on deserted Pacific islands namely 'One will Survive imperpituity'.
@@ConstableHandsy I’ve listened 3 times now on both formats and some of it’s great but the drums are strange because of the modern sounding reverb used. Liar especially has been molested and it’s one of my favorite Queen songs ever, the magic was erased from that one. Some of the weaker tracks are now far better I must add. I’ll listen to it all week and then I’ll listen to the original on 1986 CD, 1994 CD and 2011 CD remasters. Then original vinyl and 2015 vinyl and judge it again.
15:30 “you don’t need them, they are not essential”???? How can you say that, these 2 songs are from the very first Queen gig ever recorded, when they were in an embryonic stage. A absolutely must have for a Queen fan.
I don't like the "new" artwork, I don't like the "new" title and I don't like the "new" record labels. This release shouldn't exist without the input of the other half of the band. Some things should just be left alone.
Well, I heard the introduction of the box by Brian here, however, no reason to rename the title officially. Guess, it’s been just a biz reason of the publisher.
i wont buy it. they have pitched corrected freddies voice. it was perfect as it was. i have the original version. not paying £150 notes for an A1 generated voice. bet freddie is turning in his grave. sacrilege.
I was impressed by Keep Yourself Alive, but it started going downhill from there. The drum sound is ridiculous. I can't believe this is the way Roger wanted them to sound, but then again, people of his age have lost a lot of hearing ability. Really pointless in my opinion. The first album is what it is. Can't rewrite history.
@@KRAZEEIZATION yeah the funny thing is, when the American label Hollywood Records comissioned a remix of "Liar" for their 1991 remaster, Queen fans dismissed it as pointless and hated the "modern" drum sound it was given 🤣 Liar happens to be, in my opinion, the worst offender of the new drum sound on the new remix. It almost makes me laugh, it's just so weird sounding and wrong. But I do hope others enjoy, it's just not my cup of tea.
@@Vespera2 It’s a shame because Liar is one of my favourite Queen tracks from the classic years. No doubt there will be more boxes now. So far Queen have only issued 3 studio albums in box sets so they’re behind a lot of the other bands. If Queen II gets a notch job then it’s goodnight Vienna!!!

Wrong. The Freddie Mercury solo collection included a cover of Rain that Freddie sung in a band called Ibex. The concert recording was from 1969.

The vocal guide version of great king rat is the best thing in the box set imho
I hate the remixes, but love that aspect too. It's like Ella Fitzgerald's "scat" vocalising - brilliant!
