Glad I came across this stuff. I have a dining room table and a few cabinets that unfortunately got really sun baked. Might as well give it a shot before I break out the power sander

Paula, You might try Howard’s paste wax as an alternate to the Feed N Wax. The paste waxes are also tinted as the Restor A Finish is. Howard’s makes a Feed N Wax with a UV protectant that you can use if the piece will be sitting in the sun (that wax you have to let it sit for 30 minutes). When I use Restor A Finish, I like to let it sit and “off gas” for a few hours before putting the wax on so it doesn’t stink up the house (I try to work in the garage or even outside if the weather is nice so there is ventilation for the fumes.).

@@projectswithpaula5897 In the last few days, I’ve “restored” 2 dark oak California tile top tables, a walnut craftsman style carved side table and 2 matching Stickley dark oak rockers.

Ok, I just finished with the dining room table.
Back ground, large, sets 8-10,honey oak oval table from Ladd/Drew furniture Co1983. It had been well used and abused. I inherited it from my daughter after it had been stored, unprotected in a damp storage unit. There were white ghost water marks, scratches and very grimy.
I used 4/000 fine steel wool and Howard's restore-finish in golden oak. Working with the grain, lots of elbow grease, I could see the layers of gunk being removed. Wiping it down with a flannel cloth redoing it again and finishing up with a good furniture oil. There was a remarkable improvement and beauty that I'm sure was there when the table was first made. Are all the marks gone? NO, but again this is a simple treatment NOT A REAL RESTORATION. The ghost water marks are still there, but barely noticeable. Scratches are well covered. Over all reactions. Until I can afford a real complete, down to bare wood restoration, this is a good alternative. I do feel it will have to be done again from time to time. I have ordered Howard's feed n wax to use on it, feeling this is better than the oil I had on hand at the time.
Would I Recommend using Howard's restore and finish yes again it's a temporary fix until you can afford the extremely cost Of doing a total restoration
@@sidanelv-1 I totally agree with you. I also put it on top of my few days old polyurethane. It makes it feel so buttery soft. I did that exact thing on my kitchen updated cupboards. Amazing.
So instead of the Howard’s wax, can you use polyurethane?
@@veronicafatura6317 one can, but poly can’t go over everything and last well. Howard feed and wax is a wax that is easy to use again, doesn’t smell bad, and can be used over almost anything.

I’ll take that coffee table. It’s beautiful. There is a term called wabi sabi. It’s Japanese for things that age or get used . On their imperfections, they become more beautiful. Her coffee table is wabi sabi. If anything more is done to it, the character will be taken away.
Awwww you are so sweet. Most of my items are wabi sabi.
I'd really like to see new pics of the dining room table as it is right now. I've come to see that the Restore a Finish is a temporary solution, it fades after a while, and the Feed n Wax i meant for more feeding dry raw wood (finish sanded off) before refinishing is done. I've put the Restore a Finish on a couple of minorly scratched sewing machine tables previously finished with Shellac, and after a few days, the scratches started to show. I hope you have had better luck.

I think I may use another wax on my current project to see how it looks. I have lacquered a piece an now need to sand with 3000 grit and wax and buff it out.
You could make another shorter video showing it now a couple months later to review it again.
Great idea. I have another piece from the same woman that I’m working on. When I return it I’ll video how hers looks because she covered it with glass, and I’ll show my dining room table, which gets wiped down every day. I’ll try to post the results in a week or so.

on deep scratches I use crayon to fill and buff out like crazy
I do that with my floors too.
What color did you use?
I’m pretty sure it was walnut.
Does Feed and Wax need to be applied periodically?
I would say yes. If it starts looking dull.

Restore a Finish is problematic. There are non drying oils that can seep into the wood and cause permanent stains.
Yes. I’ve heard a lot of negative comments. I’ve never had any.
I don't understand what you're saying. Are you saying that this product contains non-drying oils, or are you saying that she should have used non-drying oils? The whole purpose of using the colored Restore a Finish is that it contains stain. If you don't want stain, use the clear one.
@@edennis8578 the non drying oils in the Restore a Finish can cause blotchy *oil stains* where they seep into the wood where the finish is damaged.
too long, and you don't make it clear your process. Did you give it a light sand first? Poor video very shaky, you talk too much and repeat yourself.
