I picked up a Leica Mp a few months back. Its definitely going to be the camera I keep forever. I have owned an M2, M4-2, M6, m6 ttl, m8, m9 and this. I think by far, this is the best camera leica has ever made. Looks like my M2, is much sturdier and solid feeling. Love that it has a meter. If you don't have one but are looking to buy a leica, I say go with the MP. its a modern classic that you will be able to keep for the rest of your life and your children can use it after you are long gone.
Your genuine love for this craftmanship is realy touching and inspiring. I wish you the very best with it, a longlife compagnon in your analog journey.
Your genuine love for the craftmenship of the Leica MP is realy touching and inspiring. Thank you very much for sharing, and I'm sure it will be a lifetime compagnion in your analog rangefinder quest.
Day-yum! I had the pleasure of owning the M7 and currently own the M2. Will likely get the M3. Would love to see comparisons and opinions on the various models.
late comment but i just purchased a new Leica MP in black from Mr Ken Hansen. He's a great guy and the camera is perfect. i was debating on a new or pre owned MP and decided to just go for new. It was actually pretty hard to find a preowned black mp. your review of the mp got me to want and suffer months of saving for it lol it was worth it
Hey steve, I saw you bought the Monochrome - do you still have the MP?:) I really hope so, cause the mp is just perfect and beautiful. greetings from germany
hey I love the leica but little afraid with the rangefinder. I use dslr for my photo shoot, but I wanna get into film cameras. I know canon and nikon do film camera with no rangefinder which are perfect but its huge like the dslr. I wanna get it to street photography dslr great but some people do find it uncomfortable are cameras. I'm just researching still but what do you recommend is best film camera for people starting out... thank you
I intend to trade my d3x for the next digital M in order to gain experience of rangefinder focussing, and then I'll run an M7 alongside it. Theres a special quality about film M cameras that the digital ones don't have....
I do not buy all of the cameras I write about. 90% of them are sent to me to review by Leica or manufacturers. Also, if I buy a new camera for myself I have to sell whatever I have to fund the new one.
that is a sexy camera, but I gotta tell you, it ain't badder than my M2. The ultimate rangefinder? My vote is for the M2R with a magnum rapid rewind crank. after that I vote an early black M4. but I wouldn't trade my M2 for anything. I'm also very fond of my M5 {black chrome} which is way better than the M6,7 and M8&9 {if you consider them real Ms}. Of all modern Ms I think you got the best. sweet camera. beat the hell out of it.
Im gonna have to disagree with you on the mp being the ultimate film rangefinder. The m7 has aperture priority and internal digital exposure metering, as well as manual override.
@CrazyJimKU Why? It's a brick of a camera being set down on a cardboard box. This camera could be kicked down the street or drug behind a car for a few blocks and it would still work. It really is a lifetime camera :)
"I wanted the ultimate Leica Film Rangefinder so I bought a . . . MP." Sorry Steve, thought you were gonna say M5 then :D. Leica M5, the ultimate Leica Film Rangefinder.
Hello there, are you familiar with "Photo SFXart Tricks" (just do a Google search for it...)? There you can watch a nice free video showing the way to take incredible photos. This made it possible for Daniel to take photographs that have a wow-effect after you take a look at them. I hope it will help you as well.

I really enjoy watching your reviews Steve!
Do you still have the MP, Steve?

congrats :)
what lenses do you use with it?
Is there already a full review available, as promised in the video? Can't find it :-(
When you said you got the best RF camera ever I was disappointed to see you weren't talking about the M3.
Hey steve, I saw you bought the Monochrome - do you still have the MP?:) I really hope so, cause the mp is just perfect and beautiful. greetings from germany
Is there a big difference between the M7 and the MP?
Do you still have your MP? that's my dreamy camera!!

thank you
How much of a deal did you get, does ken Hansen give deals like this often
whats the difference between the MP and the M7?
I want one so badly. I have an M8.2 and was hoping my Zeiss Ikon ZM would satisfy my film fancy but... look at that MP. I will have to get one.
I want one so bad! Maybe in a feeeeeew years! Enjoy yours!
I just ordered my black MP!
I hope it arrives before I die because I don't have any kidneys now.
Does it have a tytanium speedshutter?
what lens are you putting on that beaut?
That is an ISO dial. You have to set your ISO to match your film ISO. Thanks!
The M3 is the king, however it has no meter. It's an MP with a dead battery, larger finder. For new, the MP is your only choice.

how much did you pay Steve???
Please send us a next video when you have put some more scratches on it. And tell us how you did it, so we can learn how to avoid a messy camera.
My god you like this camera!! Hope there aren't any strange stains on it now and don't worry about a few insignificant paint blemishes.
@Stormgebieder go to stevehuffphoto website and look under reviews then under leica and its there
The rangefinder might need some adjustment though ;)

I wonna thank myself for looking ate this video.
Hey Steve!!!
You cool!

Theres a scratch on the left side of the top plate
this is weird I saw someone that camera for the first time today in the park
the m9 titanium was the sexiest camera ever made

@tallkev71 Thanks!
shooting in hd? 480p hd much?
@28orthelot Thanks!
@realitik It's not
Anyone buying a kidney?
@javier1000 yes
k gotta be real but the film rewind knob kind of sucks. I do, however, like the 1 piece crank and it's why the M2/M3/MP are the sexiest cameras.
Try a Canon NEW F1 whit the AE Finder.and a FD 55mm F1.2 SSC ASPHERICAL mounted on.
@stevehuff1969 dragged?
The M7 has an electronic shutter and auto exposure mode.
M3 for the win's "looks"
Easy to say, "beautiful"...
Oh Leica people with a small paint scuff, or even a small ding on the box....
@stevehuff1969 That can survive only Nikon F2 :))
giggty
I think the M4-P looks even better than this version.
meh. XP2
