Just had to have my vacuum pump replaced on my new 23 Tacoma TRD sport with 470 miles on it. It’s normal for the pumps to be noisy but mine sounded like a bad valve and extremely loud. Still noisy after replacement, but way quieter than before
My 2023 Toyota Tacoma started with this noise at about 8,000 miles. It currently has about 12,700 miles. The sound is very loud when the engine warms up. When the engine is cold the noise is not present. I have changed the oil regularly; every 3,000 miles.
Does anyone know if this was an issue with the Lexus GX 460? I have almost the same sound on mine and the other day all the brake warning lights came on. ABS, Low brake power etc. Car only has 48,000miles on it. Its with Lexus now. Interested to see what they find.
You are correct. You can most certainly hear the direct injection pump/injectors "tick". But the "clattering sound is not normal and is coming from the vacuum pump itself. Way too loud to be normal, unless this is "Toyota normal"
Your 2018 has crawl control? This an a wear item according to Toyota and need to be replace every 124k miles. I wouldn't be so quick to accept "normal" I've seen the swiper arm inside broken on other vehicles with similar style vacuum pumps.
Thanks for the video I have a 23 that makes the same noise, though it is quieter and mostly noticeable when I let off on the throttle and can hear the clattering. Does yours behave like that as well?
Nice video, I never noticed the noise until recently. I just made an appointment for my 2019 with 38k for this.
How’d it go? I have the same noise.
I have same noise but quits after a few seconds
I'm hearing this weird noise on my toyota out of nowhere. I am gonna schedule an appointment at the dealership. How did it go for u?

Atkinson engine cycle normal sound. Look it up. Less fuel at idle. Higher rpm no claps.
Did you end up getting a new vacuum pump? Did the noise go away?
That’s normal on these because they have port injection and direct injections

@@drippysworkshop4905 your right it is just little to loud and if I were you I would take it to the dealer to look at it
My 2018 sounds exactly like that for 4 years already it’s normal.

Sounds just like a camshaft bearing or rocker arms going bad.
