@@ashtaylor4107 crochet is not a difficult skill to pick up. It’s one of those skills that’s very easy to understand on a surface level. The hard part is having the patience to finish what you started and judging how much material you need. 😂
I have a book of stitches that's no longer produced, but it's got so many wonderful stitches in it Uyen could use! It is "The Complete Encyclopedia of Stitchery" by Mildred Graves Ryan. It has sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, macrame, needlepoint, rug making, tatting, crewel and bargello! Secondhand book sellers online have it, it's amazing and how I've learned to knit and I'll be using it to learn how to properly sew and crochet too!

I know you are Vietnamese, but the way you speak, your cadence and accent, really reminds me of my Omi. She was German and passed away a few years ago. I didn't know her very well growing up. My mom is very mentally ill and kept me from her due to her mental illness and paranoia. But the first thing she did for me when I got to know her was crochet me a little bunny with a removable coat. She also told me to love and forgive my mom even though it hurt. She had also moved to America and had been married to a Puerto Rican man for over 50 years by the time she died, so she understood that cultural tension of being an immigrant. So now I'm crying over a Vietnamese woman who sounds kind of German because she is crocheting little animals. I wish you the same sort of happiness and long-lasting love she had.

I paid 25 cents ( Canadian) per session. she served me high tea with tea and english snacks. The 60s was the time of crocheted chokers vests and beanies. i am now 70 years old and have crocheted all my adult life. I have made many different things and given away many but the thing that I love about crocheting is mental health and great de-stressed. it has saved me from losing myself to stress fear and the ugliness of life and hurtful people. I am forever grateful to that lovely English lady.

I tried it once, but I got so confused bc how thick yarn is, and I'm not use to work w 1 stick. I did warm hat multiple time, small pencil case with 2 sticks.
@@teruderu-tan there are many different sized sticks...or hooks. I prefer the smaller sizes, but I started crocheting by making doilies. Those hooks are tiny. I've moved up to more mid sized ones. My current one is actually a handle with interchangeable hooks, because I'm starting to get arthritis.
I’ll tell you what, the bunny my grandma crocheted for me when I was younger meant the world to me. I passed it down to my younger sister and she used it until it completely fell apart. Best memories ever.

You can cheat a bit with the magic ring! Start by doing two chain stitches, and then just single or double crochet into the first chain however many times the instructions say to do it in the magic ring! It doesn’t let you tighten it like the magic ring, but if you want it smaller, you can easily sew it together more

As a 50 yr old that has been knitting, crocheting and sewing for over 30 yrs I love seeing younger people finding joy doing these things.

My nanna would sit in her chair every evening and knit animals for the children in the hospital. That woman was the most pure soul I've ever encountered and I'm so grateful. ❤

As someone who's crocheted for 20 years, this is how quickly I expect everyone to pick it up. In reality, it takes years to perfect your crafts. But being naturally gifted certainly helps 😊
