Phoenix, Arizona shoegaze band, Glixen, have been busy sculpting their own cosmos filled with plumbing cymbal crashes, jet-engine guitar squalls, and lush waves of pillowy distortion. Last year, the band shared their debut EP 'She Only Said', a collection of gripping, gauzy shoegaze songs, with a captive audience. Since stepping onto the scene, the band has toured with heavy weights like Cowgirl Clue, DIIV, and Softcult, sucking audiences into a trance with their one-of-a-kind sound. During their conversation with Audiotree Host, FINGY, the band chats about their journey as a band, affirming moments from tour, and finding their pure selves. Check out Glixen on Audiotree Live!

Had the previlege to open for them in Albuquerque, super nice people. Super sick sound live, Audiotree did a great job capturing that in this mix! So happy for all their success
I thought they played really well but they didn't seem like they were super interested in vibing with the crowd. I know it was Superbowl Sunday and the first day of the tour but it was a weird dynamic for me.
the drummer is glue
for sure the drummer keeps it together. american shoegaze = brit shoegaze + heavy drumming. nothing started this , right?
The drummer is the best part of this.
Keire on drums absolutely kills it!!
hes a hard hitter for sure and he has a great drum sound. i feel like people dont realize how involved you have to be to get a good drum tone. like tuning drums correctly is hard but then you have to hit them the right way every time and thats impressive.
does this mean we can get fleshwater on audiotree?
That would be amazing
That hasn't happened yet?
you will be very disappointed. one of the worst live bands i have ever seen
Kiere gave me a stick at their Boston show , such an awesome dude
Lucky
babe wake up, audiotree decided to bless us today
I'll be on here one day
Sounds great y'all!!!
This was recorded between both of their Iowa shows that run was legendary
my favorites!
beautiful transition from moodswing to splendor
The drummer saves this band. If you ever hear them live you can hardly hear any lyrics. Almost just sounds like noise. Maybe one song I actually enjoyed through their set.
Damn this was good!!!
These guys are awesome!!
This is the best just keep going!
Esteban looks so much like Elliott Smith it’s actually insane. Bless this band
Whammy!! Whammy!!
Saw these guys earlier this year! Loudest show I’ve ever been to, but damn worth it!
I'm glixeninnnn so hard rn guys help
Coming back to say the drummer Keire is a beast
MASSIVE.
too gooooooooooooooooooooooooood
Get ROCKET on here !
🖤🖤🖤
One of the best ever ‼️
one of my main influences to my music. love this band 🖤
the drummer was sick af
glixen come back to san antonio pls
The host reminds me of those shitty ass teen movies where the characters are overly exaggerated.
love keire since miding the gap
that was him??? whaaaaa
Easily one of the best out rn, big love
🎉
damn these guys kill it!
this shoegaze type music is so good!
Not sure who wrote the description for this but "one of a kind sound" is most definitely NOT
something I would say to describe this. I can name like 4-5 current bands that sound EXACTLY like this and another 15 that sound very similar. On the other hand, this is among the very best of this sound that I've come across, so they are really great.
agreed. love this band but truthfully not all that unique
@@0ctoplasm it's what I love about all these bands!!! I spent years between the late 90s and now imagining bands that take the shoegaze/Deftones sound and perfect it with the subtle feminine voice and sexier-than-Chino Moreno image. It's as if someone dove deep in to my mind to figure out exactly what I was looking for. I really like Wisp.
Please share the names of those 4-5 bands with me. I want to listen to more of this kind of music.
@@njmontano1625bands that sound a lot like glixen or I consider to be in good new bands:
NArrowhead
Julie
Hello Mary
Rocket
They are gutting a body of water(tags bow for short)
Wisp
Freezer
Juggler
Glitterer
Flying fish
Blossom
Fawning
There’s loads more aswell but listen to these albums and shit they all fireee
@@njmontano1625 try Pinkshinyultrablast
So sick
killed it
!!!!!
Glixen! That tone is nuts.
lol reminds me of Jen Barber singing on stage when she joined the band from the show The IT Crowd.
I could def hear sum alisons halo type vibe 🔥 🔥
Getting serious Slow Crush vibes. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
live in Philly but went to SXSW this past March. Stumbled into the odd bar called the 13th Floor. Ordered a beer and saw the schedule. playing next was Glixen. Had no idea who they were but left really impressed. The sound and tone are what I like in shoegaze. Look forward to the Full Length. What was not cool was the DJ. The energy is of a manic cocaine abuser.
drummer is the guy from minding the gap
S H O E G A Z E
I love thirstgaze🤤
shoegaze in the AM
Droga
grippy 😂
Glad I got to see them live with horse head
The tempo never changes, same tone throughout the whole set. Nothing but whammy. Big time snooze fest.
Can't make out the lyrics either.
super plants
Not sure if they are an "industry/record label-created" band, but I think they are way over-rated. The drummer, while very good, is just playing the exact same beat in every song, and I'm not sure why the singer is even bothering to sing. The vocals are a bit out of pitch and buried in the mix. I like the overall sound, but I think the hype over this band is overdone. What would Nardwuar or Fantano think of them?
@@RA_Millethe studio version is insane but okay lol
They give me deftones vibes, just found this band recently and I’m really digging them!
They must give Deftones vibes if you’ve never listened to a Shoegaze band in your life
@@subpar7404Some of their songs are very Deftonesy, this is literally shoegaze through a metal filter. Even if you compare them to Nothing or Slow Crush, both of those bands are very influenced by Deftones stated by the bands themselves.
LOL HOW
i get the vibes and where they come from but isn't it just a very boring but visually cool-looking band? maybe I'm just tired of those mediocre vocals.. would be much better to hear the lyrics and notes more clearly imho
Audiotree I am begging you to de-cringe the interviews. They always feel improvised, disingenuous, and remind me of that Steve Buscemi “How do you do, fellow kids?” meme. Kills the vibe so much. Please fix
Lame
weirdo
^
You’ll never be apart of anything meaningful and probably aren’t that good at anything yikes
I gave you 8 minutes to show me some music, and you didn't. Plodding beats, simplistic washes of guitar sustain, and inaudible vocals don't do it for me. Cool look though. I like Slowdive, but this is no Slowdive.
🤓

U wouldnt get it *joker gif*
Ok boomer
“your time is running out” ahh comment
