Would each crew consider which side they want the sidecar on for each track, or is it something that they would generally not change throughout their career?
Generally crews from the UK (where it is a big sport) have them on the left and the rest on the right, speedway and grass track the same so the courses run in the other direction, it's just tradition based on which side of the road they drive on. And it's brutal as the passenger, the average expert MX rider might last one lap going reasonably slowly. I know because I raced MX, was an international enduro rider and both drove and passengered in sidecar MX.

Although it’s pretty stupid, the crashes are pretty violent which is cool to watch. Get launched then either have your own cart land on you are get run over by the cart behind you. Sounds ok to me.
