It's not like that...Colin really appreciates her, he just did not realize it. Notice that he treats her so well once he proposes to her. Even before that he asked for permission all the time and he was very caring about her. The only thing he did was make that one callous comment. He is far better than Debling- Debling is very selfish imo, He expects his wife to be loyal and sit at home alone and manage his estate at the same time- while giving nothing in return in the form of love or anything else? In fact he goes away for years at end... Would anyone forget about Penelope Want to marry that guy? He respects her but he does not love her and nor will he ever because he will not understand her. Also, Penelope is the kind of girl who wants love in her life and she already loves Colin. Remember that for Colin she is a priority whereas for Debling she is just an afterthought that is easy to approach- For example, look at the reactions at the balloon scene. Colin goes out of his way to protect her Whereas doubling leaves her there without thinking- He only returns later as an afterthought. There are many other things that I'd like to point out, but I do not have the time to sit and type on UA-cam

Agree; haven’t been enjoying Bridgerton lately. Season 2 wasn’t any good and season three has barely given Penelope more screen time since she’s the main character this season, in my opinion. They’re so many side characters that are taking the screen time away from our main cast.

Guys, I'm going to say it. I actually really really like Lord Debling. He was consistent in his efforts and how he engaged with Pen, always gave genuine compliments, communicated regularly, appreciated individuality and humour, and encouraged having hobbies and interests. He really is the perfect man. I wish I could meet someone like him one day.
I don't think enough time has been spent on how much Lord Debling WANTED Pen. I loved the way he looked at her and the smile and bow he gave her after asking for permission to propose. He wasn't in the books, but this was a great cast 😊

What exactly was Lord Debling proposing? He kept saying a practical marriage...what exactly is that? It seems like this guy came wrapt in lots of gentlemanly charm on the outside but he really wasn't charming. Debling would be traveling for months on end for his 'nature' tours. That would leave Penelope at home alone. I don't expect Debling to go without sex for years on end and yet when Debling thought Penelope could have a thing for Colin...he dropped her. Was he blatantly telling Pen he wanted a faithful wife but he could travel the world and cheat?

Can I be honest? I immensely enjoyed their exchanges. While it was obvious how much chemistry Colin and Penelope had in intense scenes, I feel like the writers didn't do much to showcase their friendship. Instead we just saw Pen constantly swooning over Colin. There was hardly any banter between them. In fact, this scene with Debling and Penelope is exactly what I wanted to see between Colin and Penelope. Just two people having witty exchanges that showcase their friendship. I haven't read the books, but I wonder if it's portrayed the same way.
I get it why lord Dublin left He did not want to waste his time on purchasing someone who will always love someone else ….
