“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” such a true statement✨✨ We consume so much, but there is almost always another person out there who would love what you have! Way more sustainable too to get things second-hand! Stuff can always go back to the thrift store too if you thrifted it to begin with-it feels so much better to do this mentally (and financially)!!
I'm a used book addict. I finally cleared like 200 books from my shelves to a Goodwill. And all I could think was, you can have them all back now. Haha
The "vintage" popcorn maker had me rolling! That's still what I use to make popcorn because it's so much better than the microwave stuff but to go real old school the hand cranked stove top popcorn makers ( my grandma had one 🙂) are the real deal! P.S. for anyone using an air popcorn maker like the one in this video take the clear plastic top off to add your popcorn, it's way easier and no lost kernels! ☺️
Microwave popcorn is linked to cancers. So yep, only do this kind or on the stove. I have done the clean paper lunch bag with high heat oil, and a bit of kernels. It doesn't make a whole lot though.
my mother makes yoghurt at home all the time, she uses fresh milk not store bought and she heats the milk adds it to small steel pot or bowl and adds a few spoons of yogurt to the milk and then she covers it with blankets to keep it warm. no gadgets needed
7:35 true, when my mother makes yoghurt if she wants it to be sour she keeps it longer but if she wants it sweet in ends quicker, the vanilla thing i dont think thats right. its actually really sensitive like nothing should fall into your mixture i think
I bought it but it doesn't work well. It can be used to support some personal leather workshops. It can also be customized to meet your needs. *preluxz*
I never understood the point of flipping the waffles upside down. There is a heating element on both sides of the machine, so it doesn't matter which side is up and which side is down, it will get the same heating either way.
I'm pretty sure you're supposed to flip it at the beginning so both sides are making contact with the batter. If you have a waffle maker that doesn't flip the topside isn't always filled out because of gravity. You can overfill it to get a better result but it just makes a mess.
I thrifted a $10 bread machine and i use it almost every day. It works perfectly! The bread is always so fluffy! It's my favourite thrift purchase by far 😃
I think the word you meant to say was retro because in order for something to be considered vintage it has to be at least 20 years old. I doubt Dash was around in 2003 or 2004
I bought that yoghurt maker years ago from a big thrift store. It even had the instructions. I made some awesome flavours (rum and raisin, pina colada), but my family would not eat it! I recently sold it on FB marketplace. I paid $10, sold it for $20! About ten years ago my mom bought the breakfast sandwich maker for my daughter, who was 8. She was always trying to cook for herself LOL. It was perfect for her. I still use it, just not with any bread product to be low carb.
I do think that usually 2nd hand stores have a station where you can check to see if electrical items work. I realize it kind of takes part of the thrill out of the experience in this format though...
with machine's like the waffle bowl maker, you're not supposed to give it a soap wash/rinse (and not just because of the electronics). You can clean it, but just with slightly damp paper towel and then dry to keep the non-stick coating from wearing down.
I love *preluxz* so much. The leather wallet is still in good condition after almost 20 years of use, and it has not even come loose. The non-leather coin purse has only broken after more than ten years of use. The quality is really good.
we make yogurt by heating milk and adding a little bit of yogurt and place it in some warm place in our kitchen for 4 to 5 hours and don't need any gadget for that its a common thing here
Yeah i was thinking the same thing like why do you even need a gadget to make yogurt my mother just make the mixture and put it in the microwave overnight ( without timer)
Your genuine excitement when showing that the waffle maker turns is just so sweet! I've been on a 'new-to-me' channel spree lately and I'm loving your videos!
No not usually. We don't inhale yogurt as often as y'all do, using it for most recipes (I say that with love). It's more convenient for us to just buy a tub of it instead of making it . Though it would be a lot cheaper
@@jep9092 I see that now. I do wonder though, what do you guys usually eat it with? Apart from eating it plain (some of us do that too) , that is. We have it with rice, chapatis, parathas and some other odd things.
As an Indian I can say that we also eat/ drink it as lassi (basically it's a drink made with yogurt and sugar) , rice and Indian bread/ roti (which is made from wheat flour and water then we just cook it) that is like the best meal, you should actually give it a shot!!
@@Inka-o90This will depend on culture and country - in general, it’s a breakfast dish or morning snack. Often, it’s eaten with fruit or granola. Occasionally, you will see it used as part of a sauce or dressing. Most people aren’t eating daily, aside from breakfast. I’m in the USA, our cuisine is a blend of a bunch of different cultures. We use a wide variety of different cultured milks, but often not enough to make it cost effective to make a large batch at home. In addition to yogurt, we use sour cream, cream cheese, double cream, crème fraise, cottage cheese, ricotta, and mexican crema - just to name a few.
Belgian here. Wait, there are waffle makers that don't turn? I am unfamiliar with this set up. Usually it just has a hinge to get the waffle iron to turn but it rests just on the table.
I bought a belgian waffle iron in Belgium - it does not turn, just heats both sides - and makes very good waffles which I prefer with cream cheese with herbs......and perhaps a few thin slices of Chorizo.
Oh my goodness and please try doing “My Mum’s Vietnamese Yoghurt”. How in the world do you have such a gem in your household and haven’t share it with the world? ❤❤❤
I got an amazing deal last Christmas... or should I say, my dad did. We found a Kitchen Aid blender worth $300 for only $5 at our resale store connected to the food pantry we volunteer at. It works so well too.
I had a yogurt maker like that, it also came with couple of bigger jars. I donated it and make yogurt in the instant pot. And my son loved his breakfast sandwich maker in college

I regret getting rid of the 1997 horizontal bread maker I got as a wedding present. Only problem, the kneaders left two big holes. The Dash items, most are not old. On the popcorn maker, that piece is also to melt the butter.
I lost the cup that came with my air popper so I use a round 1-cup metal measuring cup. It’s easier to clean than I remember the plastic one being too.
That “vintage” popcorn maker was called an Air Popper back in the “olden days.” I had to look up the term vintage because it didn’t seem to me like an air popper or a bread maker or old be considered vintage. But Google says vintage means anything from 20 to 100 years. 😱
For any NEW gadget like the waffle bowl maker, you’re supposed to discard the first produced item as it’ll probably contain some residual chemicals fr the manufacturing process
I thrift a ton but usually clothes and shoes... I did try out buying a breadmaker once and it wound up smoking like crazy and almost starting a fire in my kitchen lol
I'm from Pakistan and we usually make curd at home without these gadgets by warming milk and adding a half spoon of curd and leave it for a few hours in a cabinet in dark with less oxygen inside "I'm still surprised how u guys were so new to curd making" No hate love u ❤❤❤
