I'm so happy with that conversation! This episode has Ares and the tunnel of love, which the books have, but Hephaestus, the chair and the Grover-Ares convo are new even for us book fans! Really enjoyable. Grover was really getting inside of Ares' mind there lmao I like that he is very smart, and also has social skills that Annabeth may sometimes lack (like saying what Ares wanted to hear so thwt he would tell Grover what he wants to know). They're emphasizing on how Satyrs in this universe are all about empathy, connection and it shows. Also, for book readers, let's just say the tunnel of love was a whole feast for our little hearts lmao. Amazing episode 😊❤ So excited for what's to come! And don't forget what Annabeth said! The harder you try to understand a prophecy, the harder it gets to understand~

I was making my parents watch this with me last night. When Annabeth started hugging Percy, I started crying. My parents asked me why & all I could say was 'They get married!' & they proceeded to laugh at me!

Here's a family tree of the Olympian (main) Greek gods, as well as an explanation on how godly genetics works: Kronos + Rhea's kids: -Hestia -Demeter -Hera -Hades -Poseidon -Zeus Zeus + Hera's kids: -Hephaestus -Ares Zeus + other people: -Apollo -Artemis -Hermes -Dionysus -Athena Unrelated to anyone: Aphrodite Now, as for how genetics works: It's explained in the books that gods don't have DNA, so Zeus and Hera having kids together isn't weird. The gods do have some sort of essence/building blocks that get passed down to their kids, but it's not connected in any way to their other siblings. So it' would still be weird for two Athena kids to date but it wouldn't be weird for a daughter of Athena and son of Poseidon to date, for example.

I loved that all of there personalities are really opening up and rounding out! It's starting to make sense how theye were perceived as subdued until now because they're just getting to know each other!
Ares is the child of Zeus and Hera, Athena is the child of Zeus and Metis. So technically they are half siblings, so Annabeth is his niece. Percy is the child of Poseidon, who is Zeus’s brother. Ares is the nephew of Poseidon, so he is Percy’s cousin.
I was confused too, don’t feel bad! After watching it again a few times I realized Grover is pointing out that it’s weird that Ares isn’t turning them in since Zues thinks Percy stole the bolt which means Ares knows who it is. At least that’s the conclusion I came to from that.
The actor who played Hephaestus (Timothy Omundson) played Cain in Supernatural that might be where you know him from but he’s been in a bunch of stuff!
Various clues are laid as to who the thief could be, but in the end it's an incredibly good plot twist in the last episode. The series is trying very hard to influence you and the Grover/Ares scene is another piece of the puzzle that will be continued in the next episode. Very cool reaction, thumbs up.
Interesting, isn't it, that it isn't wisdom that Annabeth uses to rescue Percy, but emotion? As for figuring out what's happening by reading the books, you'd only have to read one. The next four are entirely different adventures, and hopefully we'll get more seasons to cover them. 🤞

I think Ares was only flattered because Grover was stroking his ego. He doesn't care one bit about him. He just loved being admired.
