- On the canals of the UK, the speed limit is 4mph so how would I fare when given the chance to do over 30 knots on the open sea? An invitation from legendary boat-tour channel @AQUAHOLIC gave me the chance to find out, on a day in Devon with Mr Nick Burnham himself.

Great to have you aboard David! 🙂
Thanks again!
Having watched both of you independently for some time it was rather cool to see you both together! Great video & keep up the good work both of you.
OMG my two favourite channels in one place! Well done both of you for linking up.
That exactly my thoughts. Seeing you both together is great.
Great collaboration. Love both channels.
Wonderful.
I thought it was the narrow boats that kept me tuned in, I've come to realize it is your insightful narrative. Thank you David
Thank you :-)
Bravo to Nick for putting everyone in life jackets straightaway!
From the “swing-about” car ferries to Agatha Christies home, you always make it interesting. Thanks for another entertaining morning. 👍🏻
Many thanks!
You can forget having tomato sauce with your lunch on this pristine white vessel. That was my first thought.
So you were making waves today, you must have felt like King Of The World!
Thank you for taking us aboard.
Thanks Nick, and you David, for a great trip out to sea on a Sunday afternoon. It was most unexpected, and I enjoyed it all the more for that.
Perfectly done. Your videos always feel like a professional documentary and your narration is hypnotically relaxing. I know you have experience with this stuff but its always fun to watch someone do something they are exceedingly good at.
Wow, thank you!
I’m a retiree in Texas. My two favorite boating channels eating lunch on the water! Loved it! Now the third favorite is based in the states. Nauti styles. That would be the coolest if you all met up. Thanks very much to both of you!
The collab I didn’t know I needed.
Finally! My two favourite British boaters in one video.
Maybe a little more Don Knotts than Don Johnson but you still look thrilled getting up to speed. Good adventure.
Way back in my young and foolish days I got to take a ride in the 'famed Miss Budweiser' and we kept it 'safe' at 150 MPH...Great video David (as always)
Oh wow!
This was more of an introspective psychological study than the other Vlogs, I think. It looked like a very enjoyable day. It was also interesting to hear that you felt most closely identified with the smuggler being pursued by the police, rather than ... the police. Perhaps there's a hitherto unseen sliver of the rogue in you. Lie back a bit and tell me about your childhood ... what comes to mind when I say the words "cheese sandwich"? ;)
Hahaha perhaps I should have edited that out!!
Kudos to Nick and you for being safety first. Loved the trivia about the railway depot never being a station point. Thanks guys!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Your host stole my nose bleed line, but I will say that this video moved somewhat faster than some of your others. 😎
Brilliant video, my two favourite aquamen on the planet!
Glad you enjoyed it!
great to see you guys together been loving both your channels for years
Thanks so much!
What a delightful vlog. The wind in your hair must have been a new experience! Thanks for sharing.
I would watch a Miami Vice remake with you two^^
greate video btw.
Oh, that would be fun to make!
Oh-oh... he's gone over to the wobbly water dark side. 😁
Two of my favorite channels together?!? HUZZAH! Now for your NEXT trick, sipping gin on a Super Yacht with Aquaholic and Nautistyles! FYI, David, YOU are the one that got me into boating videos. Thank you! 😁
I'd certainly enjoy that!
They say New England has some of the prettiest harbors but the views in this video give it a run for its money
Best crossover ever!
Looked like a great day, you guys work off each other well....
Thank you!
This was the collaboration I never knew I needed. Now you just need to go sailing with the Wynns!
Funny you should mention that... 😉
The only thing better than owning a boat is having a friend that owns a boat.
I was in Kefelonia for a week this past May and my daughter persuaded me to hire a boat for the day, just like Nick's . We zoomed along the coast and stopped at a bay for a swim and lunch. I know I would enjoy it just as much at Dartmouth. Bet you didn't have a swim 😉
That looked like fun. You’re quite the adventurous one, good for you!
First time viewer, aquaholic addict. Good to see Nick just doing what he loves with good company. 👍🏴
Welcome along!
Two excellent UA-camrs together. Both have given me many hours of admirable (get it) content.
Never did I think i'd see the day 2 of my favourite youtubers would make a video together, well here we are
Absolutely beautiful day! Thank you for the wonderful video journey!
Just love when you guys get together.
And, there was me thinking it was something about the canals which made David's videos so calming, but it turns out to be the voice; whether it is at 5 knots or 30, it still does the trick.
Excellent collaboration! Thanks! 🙂
Wow, that must have been a great experience.
It was!
@@CruisingTheCut Nice one!
Two great you tubers, Dartmouth, flat seas, sun how perfect
Keep up the good work both
Terrific boat ride, enjoyed your day on the water. Beautiful scenery, sunny day, the best way to bring joy to the heart.
Thank you!
Brixham Vice- the plot is a bit thin, but the characters are enjoyable..
Wasn’t expecting this crossover!
What a lovely day to be at sea!
WOW! Beautiful boat! Too bad I’m terrified of “OPEN WATER”! I must see the shore at all times and have a Tinder dragging behind for escape! 😅😅😅😅😅
Smart man to wear a life jacket at all times. I love responsible Captains ❤️
***** After watching this I’d be SO happy to get back on the Narrow Boat! Welcome home and put the kettle on 😊🎉
What a charming connection!
I did Chuckle when he said about Narrowboaters, that your nose doesn't bleed at 10 Knots 😂
That was a lot of fun, thank you.
That must feel like warp speed!
@CruisingTheCut • David: Thank you so much for showing us Devon. As a voracious consumer of British mystery writers, I always long to see the real world the writers depict.
I had no idea there were so many colorful houses. The minimalistic, monotone forts seem to fit with the rugged landscape while the house, cabanas (?), and boats seem to own it.
I had no idea the house that was the inspiration for "Dead Man's Folly" still existed. Thanks for pointing it out so I can check it out & reread the novel.
And, of course, I agree with everyone else that the trip on the sea, at speed, no nosebleed, good camaraderie, etc., is wonderful in its own right. Thanks for taking us along on a beautiful outing. 👍
30 knots !! that's warp 9.9 for narrow boaters isn't it ??
Hahaha pretty much!
Hi David, what a beautiful boat. That looked like a fabulous day out. That part of the UK is so bright and cheerful. I have a wish list for when I win the lottery and Devon is one of the places I want to visit. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks 👍
Great vlog really enjoyed watching. Thanks
Once you had got the hang of it you looked very at home at the helm of this speedy craft on the deep blue sea 😊
Yes, I did start to ease into it after a while :-)
its nice for someone with different boating skills to see how the other half manage, perhaps Nick on a narrowboat is not out of the question for a change in proceedures,, well done to you both
Thanks for reintroducing me to Nick I watched several of his videos in the past but never knew his channel. BTW sorry to rain on your parade but I have been faster than 30 kts (in grand theft auto)
How fabulous 🤩
I watched the video about Jim Davidson and his beautiful boat, the Princess Mitchie, on the Aquaholic channel a while ago. Your vid here was every bit as good and very interesting. Thank you 😊
Great show ! Really enjoyed it.............................USA
Love aquaholic and cruising the cut, double bonus
Hello from Detroit Michigan brother thank you for sharing your adventure with us and for taking us along
Thanks for watching!
Hello from the 248.
Hey man! Boy we do get around!!
New hairstyle Dave. Your hair is all slicked back at 30 knots. Looked like fun.
Big boy pants are obligatory. Thanks for sharing, David.
The houses around the marina would look good on a model train layout.
Thanks for the boat ride. Sun not too hot. Rain held off. Very nice.
A wonderful video David. Thank you. I had never come across Aquaholic's channel previously but have just subscribed and looking forward to watching his videos. Forgive my candour but there is another channel I follow run by a lovely gentleman called Donny Wilcox who rides around Scottish coastal lochs and islands in a SIB boat. I am sure you would enjoy his company and a ride with him if if you are ever up in Scotland in your campervan. Thank you for all the great videos :-)
Very brave David, well done! I was worried you'd disappear into hyperspace at 6 knots! Hope a cheese sandwich was on the menu for lunch!
The good thing about what you do now is: these things would never make me subscribe to a whole channel full of this (this kind of boating here, for example). But a video about it (or perhaps a short series of 3 or 5) nicely covers my interest in, or elevates my awareness of, another kind of boating, even though narrowboats and sailing are more my thing (to watch or do).
I visit dartmouth every year.
it's an incredible place and beautiful part of the country
It really is gorgeous
My favourite two UA-cambers! Wow, what a lovely combination..Being an RYA Commercial Yachtmaster and marina supervisor in London, and having lived on a narrowboat for 5 years, you two have certainly combined the best of both worlds..thank you Nick and David. Keep the good vlogs going!
What a pleasant surprise! Two of my absolute favorite UA-camrs in one vlog! Great job David!
Enjoyed the ride on a sunny day. A day on the water it don't matter which water, it all comes down to stepping off with a moment of satisfaction.
A very nice day on the water. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
Thank you! You too!
Marvelous video from two of the nicest fellows in boating!
“WOW” just “WOW”. Thanks to The Master of the ship mr Nick for giving David and the rest of us a very happy and Wonderful day aboard your ship!
Thanks very much David for sharing!
That's the power that you needed on the canals
No, it would be pointless on a narrowboat with only inches under the keel at best!
A CtC and Aquaholic mash up? I must be dreaming!
Nightmare?!!
@@CruisingTheCut No, one of the good ones. Have you changed your mind about lumpy water boating now?
Haha it's still all a bit frenetic for me
" I may not be as strong as I think, but I know many tricks and I have resolution" A quote from Hemingway's The old man and the Sea seemed fitting.
Absolutely wonderful video, and what a beautiful day. Great job not having wind noise during the vid, makes it pleasant to watch.
O.K. "Captian" lol, thanks as always.
Thank you. The wind noise was a pain but because I had a dual microphone, one side or the other was generally pointing away from the wind!
Did your "civilized boating" luncheon include cheese sandwiches?😃😉
Of course!
And now for something completely different! Cool to see you and Nick on an outing. I watch his channel too.
I bet that was truly addictive. Glad to hear that sea sickness was not an issue. Thank you for sharing. 👏👏👍😀
The Crabber looked gorgeous 👍
What a great episode! This was a lovely treat. It's absolutely lovely around there for sure.
Great two of my favourite channels meeting up, not since the indie project came on board your narrow boat had this been the case, was hoping you would happen across Cadoha and made it a threefold
I sub to both channels and have enjoyed the colab. Thank you both for your continued content.
Two of my regular youtube people...thanks!
More sea boating content please!! This was brilliant :)
:-)
This is a great days boating. Look forward to more Speeding the Cut videos
That was an unexpected treat! Thank you David.
That was a great run!! Awesome!! Glad you enjoyed travelling at the speed of light David!!
What a nice change from the canals. Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent stuff. 10 years on the north sea in the 90's, Down the engine room though. But loved it. Great video..... thanks both. :-)
A Brilliant amalgamation of two of our favourite channels on YT
That was nice. You're spitting out content these days, David - it's a joy to behold. Also: I'm quite jealous of this marine life, oh to zoom about on the ocean, what a treat.
Brixham, these days, if I remember correctly, home to the great snooker player Ray Reardon. He seems to have the key to eternal youth - and living in a place as picturesque as that, I can see how!
It is lovely, isn't it?
And no loss of blood to a nose bleed either! Nice vlog David.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks for watching!
Marvellous. Just marvellous.
Both of your channels inspired me to change career into boating. I’ll be doing some Powerboat instructing this weekend out of Southsea Marina. Thank you!
Superb! I hope you have a great time and a bright future 👍
Ooooh your smile in the opening titles says it all!
WHAT ?! No shots of a CHEESE SANDWICH ?! Cheese Gromit...
A nice little change of pace. Looks like a great afternoon on the water.
A really lovely Video David and a joy to see you get some SPEED under your feet for once :P Though what I do love about your vlogs are the normal easy relaxing going :P
You had a BLAST! Oh the spot of lunch....do I say "a cheese sandwich"? ...Good that you had a great time....He was so nice to have you joint him........Robbie
"A cheese sandwich and a nice cup of tea" was what first came to mind, too :)!
Brixham!. As an old and semi decrepit man of 50 (ish) seeing it brings back a a lot of childhood memories. I swear i can smell the salt and sea through my monitor as i watch! Such a wonderfully pungent harbour. I will also ask the other commenters (who would have to be of a certain age like myself), anyone else remember The Dolphin holdiday camp? (Pontins! ftw!)
Two of my boat worlds collided!
