Traditional zouk style was first developed in Ilha Dos Pescadores in Rio de Janeiro around the mid 90's when Lambada songs stopped being composed. The authentic bachata dance is the original way of dancing bachata, originating from the Dominican Republic where the music also was born. The original, slow style in the '60s was danced only closed, like the bolero, often in a close embrace. Once you get advanced in many different Latin dance styles you will notice all turns and moves can be incorporated into any Latin dance. Honestly, I think Bachata music allows the dancers to puts the sensual moves together more smoothly and romantically. However to be fair I seen great Zouk dancers who are just as smooth. So in my opinion its the dancers who make the magic!!
