That's awesome man thank you! There's a lot of misconceptions about the nature of an AC30. Often criticised as being too brittle, and they certainly can be In isolation. But when you get it on a stage with a band it makes total sense! They're gigging amps for sure! You really need to be able to get them loud. Once the amp starts to compress, a lot of the spiky top end evens out. The AC30c2 Is a great option as it has a master volume so you can get the preamp section cooking without taking peoples heads off! I highly recommend trying one out! Work great with pedals too! Thanks again, Take care! :)
@@mgrimault Get an AC10 instead of an AC15. I'm telling you right now an AC10 is one of the best amps in the world right now and is only a fraction of the cost of a lot of the "boutique" stuff everyone tries to convince people they "have to have" these days. I've got a Deluxe Reverb and an AC10 and honestly I love the AC10 more and ironically it sounds best with a Tele. I've got a Strat and a 335 also and the Tele with the Vox sounds better than both of them. There's just something about that combination that's magic to my ears. Check out the AC10 if you get a shot at one!
Really nicely dialed in tones. Vox actually sounding gritty but with some warmth. Many people have it sounding so brittle just because it is a key part of its character they over do it.
This is DEFINITELLY the demo that makes me buy this freaking amp! i have NEVER heard crunch from Vox ac30 that sound so big, so wide, so freaking HUGE! Yes, some Demo’s it seems like the demoers at treble freaks or just plug in and play where in this demo he has a great rounded sound. I have a friend bringing one over today that he bought 2 years ago at a show. He’s giviving it to me for 500$ cash. Still, try to try one out before you buy it. Years ago I listened to many Reinheart 18 clips and fell in love with the thick lead tones like in this clip. When I got it, it was very thin with no bottom end, although played into various cabinets nothing made it sound good and on the job, it was 0 headroom if you wanted to hear it. Sold it. I hate whimsy amps. This is a great player and all that counts when you’re playing, especially the attack. Great video!! You rock!!
VOX amps have a unique tone circuit that you need to experiment with. Turning down the bass and treble knobs boosts the lower and upper mids accordingly. That coupled with the tone cut knob let’s you shape your sound away from those piercing highs and thin sound that people dislike. Fattening up your input tone with a Tube Screamer type pedal helps too.
Definitely keeping the Vox in the lineup , sometimes I sound like the world's greatest RockStar at the largest concert , but sometimes I have the worst wrestling match trying to get them dialed in😮
This demo convinced me to get one of these amps. I had an AC15 and sold it like a dummy. Your style and tone is similar to mine, so it’s good to see someone playing these for a crunch tone instead of shimmery clean. Well done!

While doing some research about vox30 IRs and amp sims, I was looking for a real sound of a real amp... found many, but yours is just pure tone heaven! :)
I currently play an Orange Rocker 30 in my 80's style garage punk rock band. Have been suffering because Rocker 30 does not have FX loop, so my solos get over saturated even with clean boost, (amp is running pretty damn hot with gain as is) and I just can't get enough volume boost to really have solos stick out over band!!! Was interested in these AC30's but just not quite sure if they could 'CHUG' enough for use in my band. All other AC30 demos seem to be blues players. You just proved to me that the AC30 will suit my band (with an OD pedal in front) for rhythm..... Plus i'll be able to run a boost in the FX Loop for pure volume boost for my solos!!! I think this amp is the answer to my problem. Thanks for a great video man
Hey! First off, thanks for the comment I really do appreciate it :) I've played the rocker 30's and they're great! 100% the AC30 has the potential to be an absolute rock machine If you get the right drive pedal In front of it. I've used it for tours with rock bands, blues bands, soul R&B bands, it's a really versatile piece of kit! Tube screamer works great with it. Have you considered a Treble Booster? I find a treble booster works a little better, as it boosts those upper mids and adds a lot of saturation without over compressing and colouring your tone too much, especially If you're looking for a consistent tone across your rhythm and lead sounds. Just a thought! Thanks again man. All the best!

Hi guys, got one Vox AC30c2 and when trying in the boost channel has a very constant sound, like interference.. the seller told me to warm it up for 10 min in standby before use it and should disappear the sound. this happened to some of you?
Hey, Jeremy! For the intro track I had the amp cranked to get a classic, natural overdriven tone and used a TS9 Tubescreamer for the more saturated tones :) Also, for the lead parts I added a Boss Super Chorus to add some width. Hope that helps!
The best vox demo maybe ever! I know this is a couple years old now, but did you use any post production processing of any kind? Or maybe speaker IRs? I have AC30 and a LP classic with burstbuckers and can’t quite get it to sound that killer without some processing. If you could let me know any secret sauce you got here, that would be greatly appreciated! 🙂
Hey man! Firstly, thanks for the comment! The Creambacks are higher wattage speakers so you're not going to get as much speaker breakup like you would with the greenback, which Is probably a good thing if you're going for cleaner jazz tones. They're also known for having a bit more bottom end. Greenbacks break up a lot earlier and that's part of their character. Greenback loaded cabs were a big part of that aggressive classic rock tone....for example AC/DC etc. Tonally, I'd say there's not a massive difference in it that you couldn't EQ out. You can't really go wrong with either! However, this is just my personal opinion! If you have the chance, A/B the two and see which one works best for you. Hope that helps! Thanks again. Take care :)
Good demo, Dave. You just confirmed that Chinese Voxes sound great. I have an AC-15C2 and it's the same thing - just a little less loud. Finally, someone who can do a great demo and play the s**t out of his guitar. Is that an actual Gibson you're playing, or something else? Cheers, mate!
Hey, Kyle! Thanks for your comment! The only overdrive I used for the video intro was a stock TS9 Tubescreamer. However, to get those thick saturated tones you really need to have the preamp section cranked! This is a lot more realistic on the AC30c2 as it has a master volume. I also used a Boss super chorus set to be very subtle, to help get some extra thickness. Hope that helps! Best of luck with your new amp and enjoy!! 🤘😃🤘

I'm so confused with all the different ones. Like there's an Ac30c1 and c2, s1 and others. Which is the 'normal' one, like the one you get when you talk about getting an AC30? And what are the differences between them all? Would appreciate any help :)
Some of them only have one 12in speaker in them. The "true" AC30 will have 2x12 and the "Top Boost". That's the classic AC30 sound. Also some of the newer models have different speakers in the like Alnico Blue or Celestions and they also done a "handwired" one some time ago and you'll know you've come in contact with it because it's a few thousand bucks. I will tell you of a little sleeper Vox amp called an AC10 and dude they are IN-CRED-IBLE! The cleans are insane and they take pedals wonderfully. I combine mine with a Deluxe Reverb and love it. Truth be told I love the AC10 more than the Deluxe Reverb in and of itself. Especially with a Tele. You can get one for less than $400 and I really think you'd be incredibly impressed with them. Look up a video on here where the Tone King does a comparison with 2 Vox employees and one is playing an AC30 and one is playing an AC15 and one is playing an AC10 and even the Vox employees are blown away by the AC10. I'm telling you they are really great amps. They don't have all the bells and whistles of an AC30 but they can seriously get the job done and for smaller rooms they would actually be much better.
I'm looking to buy this amp, knowing its use as an extremely versatile and customizable piece of kit. However, I'm wondering if anyone could tell me if the clean setup (the cleanest I mean) is sufficient to use for jazz or music that has no distortion at all. Thanks in advance.
Hey! Thanks for the comment. Absolutely! AC30's are known for their crystal clear, bell-like cleans. Although the overdriven tones are out of this world, clean tones is where the AC30 really shines. The normal channel input is darker sounding which will lend itself to jazzier tones. You also have the bright channel which adds some glassy/sparkle to the sound. This particular amp has a master volume too. So if you leave it wide open you'll get lots of headroom which will keep the sound cleaner for longer. You really need to crank an AC30 all the way to get any natural overdrive. Which is not always an option...it's sooo loud! So if you keep the master volume all the way up, it'll stay clean for pretty much any gigging scenario. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching! Take care
@@DaveDevlinMusic Hey man, yeah that is a really helpful response and completes everything I need to know about the amp before I buy it. It sounds exactly like what I need it to! Thanks again.

perhaps they were demoed before they were fully broken in! The greenbacks need a few back to back days of playing to settle into a sonic equilibrium.

dude u use some pedal for distortion? or only the vox sound? in the solo?
Hey! Thanks for the comment! Only pedal used for the solo was a standard TS9 tubescreamer! Hope that helps!
do you think it can do metal stuff like mastodon with the proper booster?
Totally
Plug in a boss sd-1 or Fortin 33 and you’re in riff heaven
Is it louder than a Marshall Code 100 i wann one of These Ac30 But all say it is too Loud is That True?
As long as it has a master volume you'll be good. Pretty damn loud without one
Is this greenback or alnico blue?
This amp has two Greenbacks. Thanks for watching!
Are you gonna do a Kemper pack of these? :O
Excellent demo man, what speakers are in it, blues? Sounds amazing m. Subbed 👍🏻
@Billybob Ireland Thanks, how you liking it?
@Billybob Ireland haha well hope you like it brother 👍🏻
