They have a lot of similarities. Although Max always said he didn't have 'idols' as in not having his room plastered with posters of drivers, or singers or whomever, since his young karting days he always admired Alonso as a driver. I am a British F1 fan and I agree with this. The trouble is most of the British media are in the pay of the F1 teams as well. For instance Martin Brundle was a manager of Coulthard while a commentator and Anthony Davidson is basically a Mercedes test driver now while commentating for Sky. It really means the British media and especially Sky who show the TV coverage to most of the English speaking countries around the world are very biased to British drivers - but especially to Hamilton who can never do anything wrong. It is no coincidence that Mercedes now have two British drivers. However a lot of British F1 fans cannot stand Hamilton (myself included) and are fed up with Sky TV as well. I have always been a RedBull supporter and I am team Max all the way. I hope Max does the double in 2022!
couldn't agree more! It is a bit of a conflict of interest when the sky does the show to all English-speaking countries/channels, with the bias towards British drivers, especially Hamilton. I pay for the F1 Tv Pro app in the UK, not Sky Sport but still have to hear them.
Totally agree with Fernando. BTW he hasn't said anything bad at all, its not an attack to the UK, he is just saying that the F1 is british on a high percentage, which is a fact, so anyone from outside the british environment has to work harder to gain recognition.
I agree as a newer fan as well and hope that as more English speaking countries join on the fandom, there will be alternate outlets for us to get out commentary and news.
He was the real champions with gusty spirit/ big ball while some were very reluctant to say the truth thing. He reminds me of Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost and Michael Schumacher who were also criticized the British media hype and dirty politic inside the F1 and F.I.A alike. Kudos to Fernando Alonso👍

Alonso is not just great because he is an excellent driver. His personality simply shows the greatness of him. That is why he is for me one of the greatest Champions of all time.
Well said by Alonso. Lots of important people in F1 were blindly in favor of Lewis, even when dealing with his teammate, Bottas, who got a 3-car penalty for ignoring a yellow flag and Max got 5-car penalty for ignoring two yellow flags the same day, but Lewis was only reprimanded for ignoring two yellow lights that were being used instead of the flags! It’s very true. I feel like an outsider even though I’m British because whenever someone asks who I support and I say Ferrari they say “why don’t you support a brit” and as an unbiased brit and I can see both as an insider and an outsider, British bias is a very true thing
Nice that you're British, yet support Ferrari. The way F1 is British is very clear in the fact that even brands like Mercedes and Renault, German and French powerhouses are full of British employees and even have factories in Brackley and Enstone. I too support Ferrari and love the passion for racing oozing out of Maranello, Italy! Shame that they have not managed to put everything together to get a competitive package. I see Ferrari still far behind Mercedes and Red Bull in terms of how they are organised, how they design and develop their cars. Somehow there is something they lack and can't seem to fix it. Perhaps they are missing that genius who can come up with something special. This year I saw a better team spirit. Even pit-tops for example, were much smoother than in previous years. It's nice to see that attention to detail. I expect nothing less from Ferrari. It's about time they become a force to reckon with for race wins and championships. Every year I've been hoping, since the disastrous 2014 that they come up with a good car. But most times they have been extremely disappointing.

I'm not and never was an Alonso fan. I follow F1 since '93. I'm a Romanian and i'm rooting for Finish and Japanesse drivers. People wonder why Hamilton it's so hated - he's hated not only because he's the most priviledged driver in history of F1 - being picked up and supported by a Brititish team since he was a kid and having the fastest and most reliable F1 car in history for 9 years, but because in spite of all this, he's playing the victim game as the most hypocritical game he can play. When drivers like Raikonnen came from poor, hard working parents or Mansell selling almost everything he owned at one time to compe in F1, for Lewis to say he's the only working class champion in history, it's way too much lack of a self-awarness and i can't understand how people like him are followed on social media. Not only small countries, but big countries like Japan have troubles to get into F1, because there's simply no market for the sponsors in Europe or East-asia or Midlle East. The F1 circus is being dragged by producers like Merc or Ferrari in this countries to sell their cars and everyone is forced to follow them in this countries with such a small fanbase that everything seems so artificial and fake.
let's be honest, you don't like him because he's black and a winning machine. That's why a lot of people don't like him. His dad had to work two jobs and would sleep on a sofa to support the family. Lewis was picked up by mclaren on talent and hard work. He's known for his hard work, spending many more hours with the team than other drivers. He literally came from working class on merit and hard work. Many other drivers had rich families. Kimi is an odd comparison because he's one of the laziest drivers on the grid.
@@person8203 Starting your argument with the fact that he is black it´s pretty cringe if you ask me. He is objectively hypocritical. He acts as a animal lover and anti global warming supporter but keeps racing in F1, a circus that makes thousands of tyres every year, burns liters and liters of fuel and try to sell itself as a 0 emissions category while racing in countries where their economy is based in petrolium. And wanna talk about racisms? do you really think he suffered the same racist attacks as a person who got his father killed by the police like a few years? Yes he is black, yes he has suffered racist comments, but he is not a part of the world we live in and probably he doesnt really give a sht about it. @@person8203 Don't play the color card here. That has nothging to do with the attitude of "sir" Lewis. He celebrated wildly after putting his rival in the hospital with a too risky move. Lewis claims he would love a good challenge and when he got one, he and his team played dirty all season. I could give many more examples, but have a feeling you are too biased to acknowledge even one of them. It is the attitude of Lewis that makes him so disliked by most of the drivers as well as the fans. He and Toto "no Michael" Wolff are a great pair of hypocritics and liars.
On topic: Hamilton obviously has the talent to live up to the expectations put on him, thus justificating the support he has had since tender age and why he is worthy of driving winning machinery. But his victim role absolutely makes me feel sick.
Anyone who competes against Brits for the championship becomes villain. At some point in the future, in a documentary on netflix, Max will be portrayed as the villain. Former drivers will be heard, probably Russell and Norris, will talk about how Hamilton was robbed and Max was dirty. But they won't talk about Silverstone, won't listen to Rosberg or Alonso.

I'm British and have always supported Alonso. It's true that the British media have always had a reputation for stirring, and have been unjust towards Fernando during the 2007 season, and created a lot of controversy and tensions
The British media didn’t have any part in him holding Lewis up in quali in Hungary 2007. The British media didn’t put his name on emails from spygate. The British media weren’t in the room when crashgate was cooked up. The British media didn’t advise Ferrari strategists to give team orders in his favour when they were banned. The British media didn’t make him hinder a young test driver by the name of Lando Norris as he was about to set faster times. Alonso is a lot of things but a lot of his hate comes from things he brought on himself. Great driver, controversial as hell.
@@dizzyduck44 while this is true when it comes to Alonso, the British media does have a tendency to push an agenda that doesn’t support great drivers that aren’t British. They did it with Schumacher whilst he was racing. I remember them putting down Vettel’s accomplishments and achievements during his spell at the top saying it was all because of Adrian Newey and the red bull car. Yet when Mercedes design a similar dominant car , it’s all Lewis Hamilton’s skill and not the car where nothing is said about James Allison when it comes to him engineering the car design. Similarly, when Rosberg won in 2016 there was barely any credit given to him when he beat Hamilton who was his teammate over an entire season. Sky only tracked back on that after Rosberg became a regular pundit for them
@@mick8473 I think you should watch the video. Alonso sat for 11 seconds after being given the green light (or lollipop lifted as it was then) while Lewis sat behind. That’s why the mechanics look confused. That’s why since then, multiple people who were in the garage that day say various people were screaming down the radio at Alonso to go. 11 seconds was enough for Lewis not to make the line and improve his time. As I said when you watch it live you don’t need a commentary to make an opinion. Did you know this followed Alonso trying to give his mechanics cash in envelopes to motivate them? Lewis mechanics complained and Ron Dennis reprimanded Alonso saying we don’t do that in this team. This resulted in Alonso having a blazing row with Dennis. No one in McLaren back then was bigger than the team.
@@tombardsley3081 but again some of the things Schumacher did. Dodgy! Ironically I seem to spend a lot of my time reminding people that Lewis wasn’t always a saint. I live in a house where I have never been forgiven for saying Rosberg would win a world title and when he did it was like I’d shot the cat! Agreed Sky never seemed to pick up on how Nico could have been one of the most technically minded and intelligent drivers to ever sit in an F1 car. He could work problems out mid race where Lewis would give up.
As for the media, luckily i am german and have in recent years very much prefered the Austrian broadcast. Much smaller scale than German Sky, but so much better in balanced point of view even compared to the germans, and so wholesome people. Ernst Hausleitner, the Austrian commentator, probably the best in the world which the english speaking countries never know. He is such a calm dude and knows the sports. No screaming at the starts, no premature judgements. Together with Alexander Wurz the best commentator team. The german Sky team is not as biased as the british crew, just focus on german drivers a little too much. As they work kind of in the same environment and share some of the back end of the production there are some similarities that are inevitable.
The British media, although with beautiful exceptions like Martin Brundle for example, put Alonso in such a bad spotlight just because he was competing on high level with Hamilton than it took him many years to show the nice person, although competitive, he ready is.
Finally someone said it.... That's why most laps led, most fastest laps, most wins, the 1st lap corner, the rear right tyre tap and more are not making more sound than 1 lap at yas Marina...
because even with all the good Max did this last season, he wouldnt have won the drivers championship without the bending of rules that only favoured Max on the grid and the driver in 3rd place couldnt compete for 2nd. Any other race we let all or none of the lapped cars go past, last season Masi said all the cars need to unlap, this season same rule its only ones I decide so I can decide who can race to the flag Any other race of the calendar we finish under a SC, Spa we had ZERO racing laps but Max was handed the win, so its not a problem Max was great, you cant say he doesnt deserve the credit but he shouldnt have won the last race of the season and therefore he wouldnt have won the title. So everything else means nothing when he would've had less points
@@jjharson7344 All of the other accolades throughout the season meant nothing because the winner of the drivers championship got it handed to the them by changing existing rules and applications of those rules. Just check formula 1 youtubers. The vast majority of english speaking content comes from UK youtubers. ( I mean partly no surprise there) but you could see how after abu dhabi every single channel had their meltdown. When sure the situation could ve been better handled and let lapped cars earlier through etc, but all teams agreed in the start to try not let it end under safety car. Every team agreed to that. Now Mercedes and the International youtubesphere(as its mainly made up by british) is having their melt downs. Also yeah most teams sit in the UK so how much of Mercedes is Mercedes really then other than a brandname on a UK team? I mean Red bull also sits in UK despite technically being an austrian brand...
You can notice the "British F1 industry" thing with George Russell. The guy is always highlighted in F1 events in spite of not being even in the top 10 drivers. F1 wants him to be the successor of Hamilton. That is why Russell was a provisional driver for Mercedes back in 2019. And now Mercedes is letting Bottas (which is a better driver IMO) go for Russell. Because they hope Russell can learn from Hamilton and become the new British F1 jewel.
Man Alonso is motorsport gold. Some think it is crazy, but just like champions Jim Clark, Emmo, Nigel Mansell and others like JPM, he is a throwback to F1 stars of the past willing to climb into an IndyCar to race the 500 at 400kph. Now that he is back in F1, he is one of my favorites!

There is an old Spanish saying "Every respectable Spaniard shall piss looking towards England" The way it seems to be Alonso is one of those respectable Spaniards 😂
If you pay attention you can see that Alonso understands why this is the case. He understands why there's so much bias. It doesn't justify the amount of dirty they did to him when he was younger, no, but a wise man is a man who has accepted the flaws of men and has no problem speaking his mind calmly, demonstrating a more layed back, truth oriented, approach to the sport. All the british media, reporters, fans hate Verstappen and be disrespectful to him because they know he can defeat their golden boy. He's a young, tough, ruthless driver who managed to defeat one of the best drivers of all time (even if he was unlucky in Baku and Hungary) and it hurts them. Even if he doesn't win next season (if RB doesn't have a competitor car) he will win many championships in the future. Remember Hamilton won in 2008 and then in 2014 because he didn't drive the fastest car...Chill and appreciate this new talent because we only have 1 in a decade!

Nice that you're British, yet support Ferrari.
@@person8203 Don't play the color card here. That has nothging to do with the attitude of "sir" Lewis. He celebrated wildly after putting his rival in the hospital with a too risky move. Sky only tracked back on that after Rosberg became a regular pundit for them
@@dizzyduck44 You know nothing how embarrassing. McLaren held Lewis up at Hungary as a punishment for causing trouble. Just watch the video.
Vettel is a difficult one as he’s never won a title outside of Red Bull so you are always going to get people saying it was the car not the driver.
That British media comment hits different now more than ever after the whole Sky - RB headache
You mean that one time Sky dared speak the truth?
Any other race we let all or none of the lapped cars go past, last season Masi said all the cars need to unlap, this season same rule its only ones I decide so I can decide who can race to the flag
Any other race of the calendar we finish under a SC, Spa we had ZERO racing laps but Max was handed the win, so its not a problem
Max was great, you cant say he doesnt deserve the credit but he shouldnt have won the last race of the season and therefore he wouldnt have won the title. So everything else means nothing when he would've had less points
@@imo098765 on point this comment is......
@@jjharson7344 All of the other accolades throughout the season meant nothing because the winner of the drivers championship got it handed to the them by changing existing rules and applications of those rules.
If those rules were followed as it has been implemented in the past, under the same race director, also during the same season. Hamilton wins that GP and wins the drivers championship and is the best driver of the 2021
All those poles, fastest laps, most wins doesnt make you the champion, finishethe highest on average, thats how you win the drivers championship.
Hamilton deserved it
@@imo098765 I'm not disagreeing with you...... I said you was on point with your comments. if things had run their natural course in the last race there is no doubt in my mind Lewis would have won.
@@jjharson7344 I read it incorrectly, I was on my phone and I saw "point this comment is...."
which I read as "point of this comment is?"
Fernando is always a class act. He would be a great F1 commentator after he retires from racing if he wants to take it on. He is also a wonderful ambassador for all motorsport.
And now Max winning his second WDC with 32 wins gives Fernando even more reasons regarding the similarities between them, such a beautiful coincidence.
Someone said what needs to be said, British sport with British environment, you need to fight fans, stewards and direction.
EL PLAN ❤️ Love from the other little country : the Netherlands 🇳🇱😘
I do actually see alot of simularities between Alonso and Max. The way they both where agressive youngsters fighting a 7 time WC for the title
Facts. He always speaks facts.
My man 🇳🇱🤘🇳🇱 looking forward to find out where everybody stands in this coming season
!!!! FOR ALL ALONSO FANS --- EXCITING NEWS !!!!
This year before the season starts he is opening an online racing course called "Defense Like a Lion" focused on defensive driving skill where he goes over in clear detail the techniques of past greats going back to the likes of Senna, Schumacher and more recent legends like himself.
In one particularly intriguing chapter he features Checo the Legend in "The Art of Defending With Worn Tyres So You Don't Have to Cry Like a Sore Loser" There Checo teams up with him to explain to us what are the most effective ways to defend with worn tyres in a circuit like Abu Dhabi even when your opponent has DRS.
Sign up quickly, there are limited spots and current drivers have priority !
Alonso is pure gold. Love his attitude and love listening to him talk. Hope Aston Martin can give him a decent car next year 🙏
Alonso can drive any car
@@EthanRom he or jb couldn't drive the 2014 mclaren 😂. No one could.
As long as the car makes it to the end as well alpine have lost him so many points this year. Could be sitting behind Lewis quite comfy in p7
@@markalexander7652 I meant he has experience considering he's the only driver to have driven all 4 current engine suppliers (Mercedes, Honda, Ferrari, and Renault). so that experiences makes him potentially adaptable to Aston
@@EthanRom I know dude I was just having a laugh. Ocon is a credible driver and alonso has had him in his back pocket all year. If not for dnf's he would easily be up there behind the top 3 teams. So glad we are getting anither 2 years at least. Just a pity we are losing seb.
@@markalexander7652 Ocon is great when he’s not fighting his own teammate. He did well in this recent one
If that happens with drivers from those European countries, now just imagine how much drivers like Checo have to fight, I mean, just look at the rankings, the lists of the best drivers, minimizing him, come on, that even many said that Hülkenberg was better without any argument other than nationality... Even Canadians are treated similarly.
Senna said it, "getting to F1 is difficult, but it's much more difficult being from Latin America".
I guess as an American being outside of Europe I don't really see F1 as British. Maybe he's saying this cuz a lot of the teams headquarters are in England. But there is no biased in my mind that I see. I don't give a crap what country anybody come from
I think the likes of Krofty, Brundle and British fans take so much pride that Britain has such a successful F1 driver in Lewis. I don’t see it a biased sport because the majority audience will be drawn from the English speaking side of Formula One so will watch it that way hearing British accents and quickly their ‘favourite/hero’ driver maybe spawned because of the British pride we hear from Krofty and Brundle and their enthusiasm.
Excelente Alonso, como siempre poniendo los puntos sobre las íes sin hipocresías.
Alonso is a legend, so glad he’s back in F1.
I hope to see Alonso often on the podium with Max next season!
I am forever grateful to my mother for moving me to France as a child so I could learn french. Not only is it great for travel and work, but I can watch F1 on Canal+ instead of the overpriced biased shit show that is Sky F1.
We Dutch will always love Alonso for his honesty.
There is an old Spanish saying "Every respectable Spaniard shall piss looking towards England"
The way it seems to be Alonso is one of those respectable Spaniards 😂
@Karl Newsome not really, we returned the favour soon after when they wanted to invade Spain as a vengeance. All good.
Alonso definitely deserves more WDCs and that's not an opinion, it's a fact
If you pay attention you can see that Alonso understands why this is the case. He understands why there's so much bias. It doesn't justify the amount of dirty they did to him when he was younger, no, but a wise man is a man who has accepted the flaws of men and has no problem speaking his mind calmly, demonstrating a more layed back, truth oriented, approach to the sport.
Still, I can't wait for him to go bananas on the track next year hahaha this old man is not so old, he still has some kick as he demonstrated this season, and the next one will be something incredible guys... I can't wait
👍👍👍💯
As a Brit the media over here is awful
Really he means the English, when you foreigners say British you really mean English, I don't know about Wales but there's no bias in favour of Hamilton/Russell/Norris in Scotland I can tell you that much
Is Scottish media different in their approach then English? (genuine question)
@@bjrnchrstn That's because Scotland has no sporting history 😂

Well spoken Alonso!
PLEASE let Alonso be a WDC contender next year! 😬😬
It’s good to finally see voices coming up against the mighty British F1 establishment.
You can’t blame the British though, it is a natural process if the largest share is British.
Alonso is one of the greatest for me and would also be a 7-times champion by now if he had the best material available .
I cannot wait for this guy's autobiography.
This is the first time I heard someone on the inside admit that you have to beat a British organization as well as a British driver.
Yea, no kidding
Alonzo is fun he does good job I know he rather speak in his native language so I really appreciate when he speaks English for us....it good he's back racing F1.....just a great talent....it never hurts to have more of that....
loved the dig he gave to hamilton, (i was fighting with the 7 time world champion) good on ya Alonso,
Lol Alonso is still hurting that a rookie showed him up in his rookie year
@@pepsiaxe2937 "showed him up in his rookie year" LMAO how pathetic can someone be when exposing his ignorance, bias and stupidity
I'm sure Alonso was referring to 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher, not Lewis Hamilton.
@@hendrikhardeman9832 well of course he was but instead of saying micheal,s name he said 7 time champion, i.e low blow to hamilton, read between the lines,
He was fighting the 7 time world champion back then and it wasn’t Lewis Hamilton. And he took the crown from him as Max did with Lewis.
Much Respect for this man! We all love Fernando Alonso!
The reaction of the British press to the Abu Dhabi result is nothing short of hysterical. Ayrton Senna used to detest them barring a couple of journalists like Denis Jenkinson because of their bias.
Senna once stated that Lotus did not have the resources to run 2 top drivers and that stopped Derek Warwick getting a Lotus drive. They never forgave Senna for that but he was proved correct. His retirements were cheered by the Brits everywhere.
As a British F1 fan who supports Vettel I do find the UK media irritating sometimes. The governance of the sport not so much. The old days of Mosely, Bernie and Charlie calling the shots is over so now we have Masi making an absolute mess of everything instead.

Alonso is right. F1 is a British territory with much more british dominance than it should be.

FIA talks about "diversity" a lot but doesnt seem to know it's more then just sex and the color of your skin.
Currently drives for a French team based in the UK. Is moving to another team based in the UK. Then complains about British based F1. That's like someone who moves house to live near an airport/racetrack/school etc and then complains about the noise.
true . skysports is not neutral , their commentators try to be neutral but then show true colours a day later on twitter etc , those who rise will get attacked . i mean take martin brundle , mr mediocre , does commentating , then goes to say shit in favour of lulu when asked by a newsoutlet , and max has to answer his questions next time on the grid . f him , he would not get eyecontact from me . get those out of here if you wanna keep the sport clean .
I found it hard understanding what to write.
so well spoken Fernando! Legend!
Let's not forget to mention that the Brits(involved in F1) could not stand having a German be the greatest of all time and ensured they got their own plastic 7 time champion. They vilified Schumacher his whole career just because of Damon. There might have been times he crossed the line or was very least on the edge of it but when Hamilton and Senna did worse and they made nothing of it...
