Ya, I don't watch this channel for the marksmanship. You just do interesting stuff and seem to have a lot of fun doing it. That being said you guys are better shots than you give yourself credit for sometimes. I used to do a lot shotgun shooting and it isn't as easy as some would think. Most of them are not the most accurate things in the world, don't have great triggers and you get a lot of punishment from the recoil. And you are often shooting very weird stuff lol. And Danny is very good with bead sights. I couldn't make most of the shots he does without a scope.
I have been watching your videos for quite some time even when you were doing the Mercury videos. I know you videos are a great contribution to gun and ammunition manufacturers. I shot a paper plate from 100m with a used pawn shop $350 smooth bore 870 wing master using cheap rio slugs and hit 3” from the center. It’s one thing to see you guys do it and another to get the same results yourself! I was confirming zero on my AR and though “what the hell” let’s try the 870, my buddy and I were so impressed! So naturally he tried to see if it was a fluke and sure enough he had similar results. The guy who owned it before me must’ve used it for hunting, he did a great job sighting it in. Thanks for the great content!

Sans Handlebars Nice! Sounds like some nicer gear than I had. You could buy extra parts for more variety but only ever got the setup for 12 gauge. I grew up in rural South Dakota, so a kid was pretty much the oddball if he didn’t shoot. I learned shooting with my dad’s 12 gauge and grandpa’s 30-06 and 308. Maybe that explains my trick shoulder that locks up on occasion 🤔😂

Very good demo... I have found that projectiles, that have a constant weight distribution front to back/longitudinally, generally are the most accurate in rifled barrels, shotgun or not, with the proper twist rate match... And yes, a stiffer barrel can help...

A lot of variables to contend with in the projectile dept. You could drive someone insane trying to adjust optics for each one. Good thing Danny must have stayed in a Holiday Inn in Louisville at least once. I've seen the slug on BPI maybe I'll try them now.

Jeff, I a feeling that BPI has been watching us with the Russian casting that Cookie and I have been putting out, a serious flaw that has been revealed with your slow-motion photography is the separation of the tailwads from the projectile and how detrimental that is to accuracy. I'm not saying that the Gulandi DGS slug is of poor design because of the Italian slug or (Fire hydrant) is somehow better, it is because we have found a way of making sure that the tailwad is seated properly before the loading process. Your show is an added benefit from a loading point of view on the bench. You, Danny and Greg make things possible for us to see what happens when the slug leaves the muzzle and the dynamics of ballistic interference goes through its process. I was kind of expecting to see some tail separation on these because there's hardly anything to keep them together. Just a smooth plastic stud in a smooth lead cavity. Thanks the nice words Dave!
4" at 50, 4 shots with first try hand loads and an off center red dot. Nothing to apologize for. I nave had slug loads go from 5" at 25 to 1" at 25 due solely due to a change of wad, and 6 grains of powder. I am going to try a box of these for sure.
Yeah, I don't know why I was knocking it. My powder recipe was just a guestimate (based on other slugs the same weight) and it was a light load- Danny just had surgery and I didn't want to be too hard on him!

When I grew up my dad had one of those little Lee Loader kits and you did it all by hand.

4" at 50, 4 shots with first try hand loads and an off center red dot. Nothing to apologize for. I nave had slug loads go from 5" at 25 to 1" at 25 due solely due to a change of wad, and 6 grains of powder. I am going to try a box of these for sure.
Yeah, I don't know why I was knocking it. My powder recipe was just a guestimate (based on other slugs the same weight) and it was a light load- Danny just had surgery and I didn't want to be too hard on him!
@@taofledermaus yep, even the column height and roll crimp depth can alter the slug flight at the last second out of the muzzle. If I were Danny, every shot would have been off a lead sled
