Сен-Реми-де-Прованс построен на руинах древнего античного города Гланум, основанного в 3 веке до нашей эры и затем перестроенного римлянами при Юлии Цезаре.
Рядом с городом находятся два крупных памятника:
Триумфальная арка - построенная в конце царствования Октавиана Августа (14 году на нашей эры) и была символом римской власти и авторитета. И Юлиев мавзолей - построенный приблизительно в 30-20 годах до нашей эры, и считается кенотафом, возведенный в память о человеке из рода Юлиев, который получил гражданство и свое имя от Юлия Цезаря за службу в римской армии после завоевания Галлии.
