international tournaments are msi, rift rivals and worlds (rift rivals is just a special event against rival regions eu vs na and kr vs ch) spring split and summer split is a regional competition to decide who get's to compete on msi(for spring) and worlds(for summer)
also haven't seen this mentioned, but in official tournaments (when riot is in charge of production so like worlds now) between games there are 5 minute long breaks when music plays. that music is usually pentakill(or any other riot created music) or any other track riot was allowed to play by creators and stuch, but when game goes to game 5 (x team 2-2 y team) a song called silver scrapes gets played. it sort-of started as a meme but now it became a tradition. you can hear caster saying it in this video too.
They have leagues that play over two splits. Spring split and Summer split. After spring split there is MSI where only first team from each region goes to compete. Then Summer split, and after it comes worlds. There is some smaller tourney as well but this is the most important structure. So basically they play almost all year with exception around after Worlds till January is offseason.
About tournaments (from what I know, please comment anything I miss out). There are 4 types of International LoL tournaments: MSI, Worlds, Rift Rivals and Allstar. I know you guys are aware of the first two, I'll try to briefly explain the other two. Each regions Rift Rival team is made up of those who placed the best in Spring split; the closest 'rivaling' teams will play against each other, for example Europe will face North America. All star is GREAT for the community, as us players get to vote for our favourite pro players, and the winners of the vote are put onto teams that will compete in various gamemodes/tournaments, most of them being very fun based! For example, the pro players will play rounds of 1v1s, and many other gamemodes that LoL has to offer (Like the popular URF mode, where there is basically NO COOLDOWN on champion abilities, so you just keep spamming buttons!)
React to the league of legens 2019 group stage teaser 1. I like that you're doing historic worlds but worlds 2019 is happening RIGHT NOW. That's the best thing to watch.
@@HypeTrain-Follow Do both? You should absolutely do the 10 year anniversary videos. But you should also do Worlds 2019 videos imo. It's an exciting time to be a League of legends fan, don't miss the hype train ;)
Hey guys! When you watch the new champion video please first watch "Senna: Dark Passage", it's a small teaser that leads up to the full thing, " Senna: Shadow’s Embrace". Senna is the wife of Lucian (a champion in the game) and she was "stolen" by Thresh (also a champion). All 3 are in the trailer. It's really worth watching!
Worlds and MSI is the the only internationals but it is regeionals almost all year. With an exception of preseason right after worlds till the spring split starts. And that is only the big leagues it is alot of small leagues for small teams in even smaller regions.
Are you guys watching Worlds 2019? Europe are actually favorites this year. And Faker’s SKT is also participating this year. It looks to be EU vs KR this year.
In League, players can get bounties where the opposing players get some extra gold for killing them as a sort of small comeback mechanic. In the past that used to be if players got 3 more kills without dying i believe, but now it's possible to build up a bounty by just farming minions. But broken down simply, it just means that a player that has gotten ahead got killed by the other team and they recieved a gold bounty for doing so.
When someone is doing really well, to preveng a snowball effect, a bounty is put on his head, so whoever kills him gets extra gold, and the announcer says "Shut down!" because you just put his killing spree to an end.
Hey guys,I would love to give my advice to what to watch next also "When the FBI Destroyed the Most Dominant League of Legends Team Ever" is the name of the video and it shows one of the best teams ever to play the game,it was early stage of league of legends but video is friendly to those who are new to the game and is simply amazing,it's a little bit longer tho. Like your videos btw, keep up the good work.
I see that someone already covered the "shut down" mechanic so I will do my best to cover the esports question. Currently in League we have 5 Major regions and 8 minor regions each of them holding their respective tournament. Although the rules of the tournaments very between regions (as in how many teams are in it and how many game you play) usually all tournaments consist of spring split fallowed by play-offs and than summer split fallowed by play-offs as well. The MSI tournament is held between the 2 seasons and is a tournament between the 1st teams from each region, with some exceptions (IG where not 1st in China's spring split but they were auto-qualified as they are the world champs). There is also another international tournament held that is called "Rift Rivals", that is more of a fan service than a serious tournament. There are 2 separate mini tournaments held for some EU vs NA rivalry and another for China vs Korea. And everything leads up to Worlds. Where all major regions send in 3 teams and all minor regions send in only 1, with the exception of Vietnam who send in 2 teams due to good international performance. The 3rd seed teams from all of the major regions (except for china as they are the current champions) + the 2nd seed team from Vietnam + the teams from the rest of the minor regions have to trough the "play-in" stage of Worlds(12 teams in total) to earn their spot with the other 12 teams in the "group stage".
I am writing this in a reply to avoid too much text. If you are interested currently our major regions and their respective tournaments are: LEC - Europe, LCS - NA , LCK - South Korea, LPL - China, LMS - Taiwan/Hon Kong/Macao.
Ah also, usually after worlds the League of Legends season ends and the game enters "pre-season" where usually some bigger changes are made to the game in preparation for the next season which is usually late January. And I forgot to mention the "All Stars" tournament as well. Usually it was held a different times but I believe last year it was decided that the best time for it is after worlds, so I believe they will carry on with this idea this year as well. The All Star event is usually just for fan service, as there are no major implications of it's results. Usually this tournament has multiple types of games where in some fans vote for which players to play, others where fans vote for what champs to be picket. Also pro players playing in different game modes and of course there is a 1v1 tournament as well (which Caps won btw). I hope this was not too much info for you guys, I tried to keep it as simple as possible. But overall there is eSports around the world all year long, apart for a month or so after worlds.
Here's something interesting leading on from your point about how each champion has 5 unique abilities (1 being a passive ability): Some champions (commonly known as transformers) have more! Their ultimate ability is replaced with a 'transformation', giving them 3 spells to use in each transformation. These types will typically have 6 abilities, their transform button and their passive ability. Every champion has 1 passive ability though, and this is just a unique perk each champion has that the player doesn't have to actively press.
11:18 HAH! Too bad, here's a huge wall of text for you! :D So each region has its own championship. Europe has LEC, NA has LCS, Korea has LCK and China has LPL (you might hear those in the videos sometimes). They are basically the same thing but with different names. How each pro league works depends on the region, but it's pretty similar or almost identical in some cases, but I'm going to explain how LEC, the European league works so you get an idea. Each year, there's a new season. In each season there's 2 Splits. Spring Split and Summer Split. Spring usually starts around January, until April. Summer starts around June until late August/September. Each split consists of a "Regular season" where 10 EU teams play against each other twice (double round-robin) in "best of ones" (Bo1). Then the first 6 teams advance to play-offs to determine who goes to finals. Play-offs are best of five games (Bo5) which in League of Legends are crucial because teams have a lot more time to prepare and to adapt if they lose one or two games. They are all played in the same day with some mini pauses between them. - Winning Spring Split allows you to go to MSI (Mid-Season Invitational) which happens during the break between Spring and Summer Split. MSI is a mini-Worlds, where there's only one team per region (the team that won Spring Split in their own region, plus a wildcard team and another team from LMS in Taiwan - total of 6 teams). There's also a group stage and play-offs. The first 4 teams to advance from groups get a pool-1 spot in the World's Group Stage. That means a 1st seed, pool 1 from a region cannot be in the same group of another 1st seed, pool 1, so for example SKT is the 1st seed from Korea and G2 is the 1st seed from EU, both won pool 1 at MSI, so they can't be on the same group at Worlds, only pool 2 and pool 3 teams can. So getting that pool 1 spot is pretty important. - Winning Summer Split means you automatically go to Worlds as the 1st seed. The 2nd and 3rd seed get determined by points (spring split also is important for this because the higher you finish on Spring, the more points you get) and they have to play some games on the regional qualifier (gauntlet) to determine who's 2nd and 3rd. Besides MSI, Worlds and the regional leagues, there's also Rift Rivals, which is a "for fun" event that has NA vs EU teams and KR vs CN teams, since those regions have always had rivalries. There's also All Stars which is also a "for fun" event, where pro players get voted by fans to participate in the tournament. So when it comes to serious international tournaments, there's only MSI and nothing beats Worlds really. The regional leagues take up more than half of the year, so there's almost no space for other events to be held. Worlds last for an entire month, so it goes all the way to November. November and December are literally the only months where the TOP teams get to rest, and it's when players go back to their home countries and spend some time with friends and family.
Generally you watch Spring and Summer for the teams you enjoy, most regions bottom teams are meh even in China and Korea. Spring results influence who goes to MSI (mid season inventational, where only the top team of each region spring goes), this is to gauge your regions power but more than half the time it doesn't match the results of Worlds. Worlds has a video how it's calculated but basically the top regions have 3 slots (NA, EU, KR, CN). Top slots of those regions are locked into groups. 3rd place of those regions have to play with 'emerging regions' aka wild cards (like Turkey, Russia, Vietnam, Japan, Brazil, ect.) The placements of the teams 1-3 is determined by their own region. So it's unique per region. First place is generally who won Summer Finals. Second place is general based on points (what place did they get in BOTH splits, so it matters how you performed in Spring). Third place is generally everyone else fighting it out in that region for the last spot in a small tourney bracket. Generally teams that didn't make it to the top 6 (out of 10) don't play and are done for the rest of the year. Again the specifics are region dependent but first place is always the same for all regions. It's whoever won Summer, most recent performance matters in a game that changed since Spring.
in league of legends normally we have 6/7 new champs/ reworks in a year but they change champions, items and even runes every 2 weeks. Also, they always correct a tons of bugs. Bugs never end in league xd
2:24 That was a huge moment at Worlds 2016, incredibly painful for European fans. G2 was playing against the tournament favorites ROX Tigers. It was looking really good for G2 but all that hope and hype vanished in a matter of seconds. After the world's, in December , it's ALL-STAR event which is an international event. This event is not for competitive games, it's for LoLs other unique and non-casual game modes like URF, All for One etc. Riot selects players and invites player, not teams, who r selected by peoples popularity vote and their performance in that year and make them play against themselves
Are you guys following worlds a little bit? I mean you know SKT and G2 a little now with the videos , and they are clearly the 2 best teams during this stage group , and there are some awesome games : SKT vs RNG was really awesome
I’m gonna try and keep it short and simple From worlds cause u know when it is So u have worlds Then off season where all the roster changes happen Then towards the end of off season you have KeSPA cup which is South Korea tournament only and Asia games which is kinda like the commonwealth games but only for Asians which league is included in Then you have the league which is the spring split Then spring playoffs to decide who goes to msi Then msi Then small break Then summer split (league) In the middle of summer split u have rift rivals which is the top 3 teams from spring split play against each other (Korea vs China) and (Eu vs Na) Then summer split continues Then summer play offs to decide who goes to worlds Then gauntlets to decide the seeding Then worlds play ins Worlds group Worlds playoffs/knockouts Tried to keep it short lol
To comment on champs it is very diverse in not serious modes. Sadly in competitive you will see high skill champs shine but the diversity, generally, isn't there. This season is different but still suffers from min/max. Which means people go for the best champs at that role for that purpose for that gold cost. When you have 140+ champs some will have the same purpose/role in the game. Some are clearly better than others where some are so versatile they can fill multiple roles and at a cheaper price. Some are unique to a fault where balancing them is next to impossible where either they are terrible or great there's no inbetween, like Kai'sa right now. Even average bot laners with her look good, just has too much safety and position corrections. Like if your not with your team because you're slow or weren't paying attention you can still just jump in and mop up the fight. Which is why you will almost always see her ever since her release. Also some champs are nuts where they have multiple different spells and transformations or different interactions with spells like Ryze, almost always in competitive even after so many reworks (changing him but trying to keep his identity). Ryze spells behave differently based on the combination you do. Sylas can steal an enemy ultimate....meaning he's different based on who you fight. Some champs just become something else over time, game play wise. Like Vlad starts off as a poke laner, finishes off as a healing/tanky/ teamfighter. Nasus laner to a God split pushing solo because he has unlimited power, Kayle literally evolves from sword mage to a rapid fire nuker that can save a team fight.
The game to overly simplify to people that don't play is all about gold and exp. More gold = more items. The larger your gold is early game the more insane, later the game goes on everyone has more gold and more items and the same difference like 2k gold lead becomes less meaningful and team comps become more meaningful. "Shutdown" is when a person is on a 3+ man killing spree, meaning they didn't die and landed the killing blow. Assists don't factor into this, where you get some gold share NOT split (meaning team play is ONLY beneficial). However just because it doesn't say "Shutdown" doesn't mean they did't achieve a Shutdown. You are worth a bounty, if you die a lot but get no kills your bounty falls and it becomes less and less meaningful killing the same person; however, for that to factor in you are already screwed. Your bounty increases based on how much gold you have vs the average player. So solo killing turrets for the local gold and CSing (killing creeps) very very well makes you worth a lot. There was even a style called "funnel comps" where the team is built to force feed one person last season. So they changed bounties to encompass average gold instead of just kills. The point is to have a comeback mechanic. So as long as you can hold on long enough to do a proper counter attack you can climb back into the game.

i think they still release new champions every 2-3 months ( i dont remember the exact time on it) we are going to be getting a new champion as well very soon, tho the surprising thing is.. when you play the game for awhile you start to naturally just memorize what champions do, the beautiful thing is even tho they release new champions they also go and update some of the older out dated champions whos abilities didnt hold up over time after new champions releases tho by far my favorite rework is the Evelynn one

''Shutdown'' when you kill 1 has killed many your team
Ty 👍😁... Kev
I’m gonna try and keep it short and simple
From worlds cause u know when it is
So u have worlds
Then off season where all the roster changes happen
Then towards the end of off season you have KeSPA cup which is South Korea tournament only and Asia games which is kinda like the commonwealth games but only for Asians which league is included in
Then you have the league which is the spring split
Then spring playoffs to decide who goes to msi
Then msi
Then small break
Then summer split (league)
In the middle of summer split u have rift rivals which is the top 3 teams from spring split play against each other (Korea vs China) and (Eu vs Na)
Then summer split continues
Then summer play offs to decide who goes to worlds
Then gauntlets to decide the seeding
Then worlds play ins
Worlds group
Worlds playoffs/knockouts
Tried to keep it short lol
Bengi the jungle himself
Theres a lot of new league stuff, 48minutes to be exact
To long for us(not enough time at the moment). Recording a couple of the announcement trailers later though - dave
@@HypeTrain-Follow yea they're part of the 48minutes ^^
You should watch eyes on skt
Highly requested that one so probably worth a look 👍-dave
Sneaky is life let me tell you that :)
Pls react to the new content videos that have been put out on there channel for the 10 year anniversary

i think they still release new champions every 2-3 months ( i dont remember the exact time on it) we are going to be getting a new champion as well very soon, tho the surprising thing is.. when you play the game for awhile you start to naturally just memorize what champions do, the beautiful thing is even tho they release new champions they also go and update some of the older out dated champions whos abilities didnt hold up over time after new champions releases tho by far my favorite rework is the Evelynn one
