One thing with backtracking: he was at a bad angle. Try to angle yourself to block the inside of the pitch. This means he has less space and if you block something it will go out for a throw/corner rather than inside the pitch potentially to another attacker

I know this can sound somehow at first but it will make sense later if your bad at headers or can barely jump put your hands on the attacker shoulder and use it as a support use that to boost yourself up but don't do it too hard it might be a foul

thats how its meant to be. if you are going to cross it in and you are RW are you going to cut back and use your left foot (bad) or are you going to cross with your weak foot (also risk). wingers are meant to cross it in, they are not always there to cut it in and score

Not sure what a griddy is, and sounds like your tackle didn't work, if it did you would get the ball. Slide tackle is usually a last ditch effort (but they look good on TV).
