Hey just found your channel as a long time VR player and Sim Racer that's lately become flight sim curious. As you noticed the Quest 3 headset is awesome but has a horrendous head strap. Do yourself a massive favour and get the BoboVR Pro or Kiwi Designs strap. I've ran the Bobo on both my Q2 and Q3 for endurance racing and the difference is night and day. You will no longer have complaints about your comfort. Thanks for all the info about a setup for VR in this vid. I can't wait to build a VR flight sim rig to put beside my racing sim rig and the information here was very helpful! 👍
Great video, G-LOC, I love how you're getting straight to the facts, and no BS. I would LOVE for you to do a comparison of the virpil and winwing pedals, as I'm in the market for them. I know that both me and a lot of my friends, who will be at the same aeronautics school next year, would also love to see a virpil mongoos joystick-base review. Keep it up :)
Few comments regarding VR and (Pimax being a threshold for VR): HP Reverb G2 is 200-300usd used, resolution is great for gauges and simracing. Saved dollars could be used for 4080/4090. BigscreenVR - great resolution for flying and racing. Night flying over MSFS and racing on a motion platform - that's the best. Quest3 + VTOL VR = best combo to start flying. You don't even need HOTAS! A simple display-port would make it absolute winner. Fingers crossed for Pico5.
I'm with you on most of that but the resolution and clarity on the g2 for me is far from acceptable. A good example is the wind meter on the g1000. I used the G2 for years for simracing and loved it but I can't look at charts and and see the smaller things on the dash. It's the future though keen to see where it goes.

Have you considered trying BR with your big set up but wirelessly? You can easily do it with a program called Virtual Desktop. First recommendation is to upgrade your head strap with Bobo VR S3 Pro. It is a bit expensive but definitely worth it. Then you would jeed a dedicated Wifi 6 or Wifi 6E router and voila! You wouldn't need to unplug anything nd at least just try it in VR. Oh btw, here are my PC specs. Ryzen 5800X3D, 32Gb DDR4 RAM, RTX 3090 ROG Strix, SSD NVNE and 850 Watt PSU. Of course a 4090 would be better but I am sure I can keep it for at least next gen or the one after for a bigger upgrade.
7:42 I mean I pick up my Quest 3 load a game and play... It's no hearder then a phone or another game console... My main issue with VR today is just how funky games are with set up like guys we figured this out 20 years ago on pC and console why is VR such a mess?
I can't read the smaller elements on the dials, some of the switch names. A great example is the wind instrument on the g1000 in msfs. It's quite small. I can make it out on the pimax but not the quest 3.
Great video, how did you get the two throttle mounts that are small with no large mount with mouse space? All of the other videos I see they have one smaller mount and one bigger mount for an optional mouse pad config? I prefer it the way you have it, just curious how you were able to get a different mount.
@@g-locmedia I've got the BoboVR M2 Pro for the Quest 2. It's incomparable to the awful default strap. The weight is much more on top of the head, which is way better, also helped by the counterweight battery, which balances out the normally front-heavy headset. As a result, you don't have to strap the headstrap down as tightly, which is way more comfortable. The only real downside is that you can no longer lean your head back against something. But with all of these headstraps, your experience will vary based on the shape of your head and your personal preferences. Most people seem to get along well with the Bobo VR, though. Note that for the Quest 3, you can get the BoboVR M3 Pro or the S3 Pro. The latter has a built-in fan. So if you get sweaty in the headset, you might want that one.
