Iida is a few orders of magnitude too slow to take on an actual speedster. He’s not really MHA’s stand in for a flash family member or quicksilver or whatnot. If he WAS an honest to God Marvel/DC level speedster he’d be a top hero before graduating high school, that’s waaaaay too strong for the power scaling in MHA.

I've watched and enjoyed both and people are hung up on the wrong thing. This is a FIGHT not a race. A-Train is fast but also really dumb with almost no fighting experience while Ida is trained to fight way stronger people. I dont care who wins, I just find "he faster 4Head" really dumb because the same argument in something like Flash vs Superman would mean Flash wins, which is just objectively false.

Even if Iida's top speed could keep up with A-Train, he's fastest when he's leaping in one direction. To beat Iida, A-Train has to use his superior footwork and manoeuvrability; while Iida rushes forward in straight lines and zig zags, A-Train needs to stick and move, circling round him while peppering him with super-speed punches. A-Train would really benefit from fighting Iida as well, tbh. Seeing a young idealistic superhero, full of determination, would remind him of the hero that Nathan wanted him to be. A-Train would surely embrace Plus Ultra after winning that fight.
Easiest way to put this. Tenya can be tracked by the eyes except when he pushes himself but that only works for a couple minutes. A Trains average running speed is so fast he literally can't even be tracked. You don't even realize he ran your girl down until a second after he does it because he's so damn fast.

Nah this is just a case of anime logic. Tenya base is able to keep up with a 10% Deku, which still puts him at relative to the speed of sound. Hell most characters in MHA are that fast, but Ida's faster. The fact he could make it so that someone who could MOVE at Mach 1 could barely react to him is impressive
Also in the fight of starlight and A train, you can see how A train see the light going really slow, tho he wasn't able to move faster to dodge it, just the fact that he saw the light coming was a good feat

A-Train reaches speeds of over 1,000 mph. Iida is only about 1/10th of that *maybe*. We don't really know his top speed but it's not even close. Iida is basically a car human. He has motors, exhaust, and gears. He could maybe outrun the average car but that's it.

Ingenium speed is also explosive in nature whereas someone like the flash is innate in nature. The flash can just slow their perception of time unlike Eda who shoots himself in straight lines at fast speed like a bullet

Avoiding them would not have given A-train any advantage over Ida. I mean, based on how Deku once managed to dodge a laser beam. While being taken by surprise, and not using the One For All Quirk. As well as how Ida could keep up with multiple Near High-End Nomu. Which were compared to Hood. Ida's reaction speed is more than likely FTL. So in this department, A-train is pretty much on par with Ida. Of course, if you accept the whole thing with Starlight's beams, in the TV series, being real light. I've watched and enjoyed both and people are hung up on the wrong thing. This is a FIGHT not a race. Even if Iida's top speed could keep up with A-Train, he's fastest when he's leaping in one direction.
To beat Iida, A-Train has to use his superior footwork and manoeuvrability; while Iida rushes forward in straight lines and zig zags, A-Train needs to stick and move, circling round him while peppering him with super-speed punches.
A-Train would really benefit from fighting Iida as well, tbh. Seeing a young idealistic superhero, full of determination, would remind him of the hero that Nathan wanted him to be. A-Train would surely embrace Plus Ultra after winning that fight.

Based on the claim that he has proven immune to any weapon known to mankind. Homelander, which is thousands of leagues above A-train, could only survive attacks involving 50-100 megatons of TNT.
Meaning A-train, who is an absolute wimp compared to Homelander, could barely survive an attack involving just 1 megaton of TNT. Which would be a force of only 1000000 tons of TNT.
In the meantime, Ida was able to survive attacks even from those like AFO Tomura Shigaraki. Whose attacks, according to his comparison to Weakened All Might, can range from teratons of TNT to petatons of TNT.
So A-train, at best, could only scratch the surface of Ida's armor.

Here, A-train's speed is far too overestimated for his own good.
If we are to refer to his race with Shockwave, from the TV series, in which he was already boosted by the drug. Then how about we also refer to the speed he had during the race.
Which, according to the panel, was recorded as only 371 m/s. And the speed of sound is 343 m/s.
If his record speed was only slightly above that of sound. How far do you think the drugs were from him when he ran off to administer them to himself.
However, this is only his travel speed, not his reaction speed. To find out his reaction speed, we have to look at other things.
For starters, let's take a look at his feat of dodging Starlight's beam attacks.
This feat only happened in the TV series, and it's hard to believe that Starlight's beams were actually light. These being more beams of plasma that emit light.
One of the things that supports this thinking is how, in the comic series, A-train was unable to react to Starlight's light beams. When he tried to force himself on her.
In the comic series, Starlight's beams are literally called light beams. And A-train, not only he couldn't react to them, but he almost had his eyes burned out of his skull by them.
So A-train being capable of reacting to beams of light, is not even part of the cannon material of the series. And Starlight's light beams, from the comic series, have nothing to do with nearby electrical sources.
But to give A-train some credit here, the villain he fought in the comics was said to be capable of moving at speeds of Mach 3. And where he was before intercepting the villain, and defeating him in Glasgow, was the Atlantic.
So yes, the reaction speed of A-train is truly above that of sound. But I don't think it is really comparable to that of light.
And even if Starlight's beams, from the TV series, were indeed light beams. Avoiding them would not have given A-train any advantage over Ida.
I mean, based on how Deku once managed to dodge a laser beam. While being taken by surprise, and not using the One For All Quirk.

Had a massive, detailed, and articulated post on why Iida washes A-Train, but then UA-cam crashed, and I don't want to type it again, so..
Speed: Iida >>Grand Tornio >> Endeavor = A- Train (Endeavor is faster than sound, Grand Torino is a lot faster than him, and Iida is faster than him)
Strength: Iida can destroy giant robots and fight High End Nomus that are slightly less effective than the one that almost beat Endeavor, and Endeavor would give Homelander a run for his money.
A-Train has, in both the comic and the show, gotten his ass beat by people far slower than him. Iida is a lot faster and hits harder than anyone A-Train has fought.
When it comes to Super Hero worlds, the Boys is pretty damn weak. That's not a problem, but it does hurt for versus discussion.
