    I've been playing DND for about 2 years now and only recently learned of greyhawk's existence so your videos are super helpful

      Thank you for the kind words. In my opinion it is the only way to play and experience the Temple of Elemental Evil, Giants, Slavers and Drow campaigns. Currently, I am working on my New Player guides around Verbobonc. Then continue more details on the TOEE campaign. I hope they become useful to anyone wanting to run these campaigns in the future.

    Kick ass assessment of the environment that spawned and sustains the story of ToEE

      Hey thanks! I made this video some time ago. Been going over the entire campaign lately rewriting it for public use. check out my newest videos! :)

    I like how your videos have a mostly black and white aesthetic. Very cool.

    Great video, sir. I'm in total agreement regarding building the plot up around the temple. Getting into the geopolitics of the viscounty together with the Gnarley Forest and the Kron Hills leads to a much richer and rewarding experience.

      I wish WOTC would rerelease all the Living Greyhawk modules for use in our campaigns. Not only is where a wealth of material there unmatched by any other world but Anna's maps has all the locations marked on her maps.

    This is exactly what I have been looking for.....thank you very much.....been playing 30+ yrs and want to present this adventure to new group of players....what is unfortunate is that I never played this one myself but can't wait to run it for my kids....

    Thanks for your wonderful breakdown. I'm currently running a Greyhawk campaign in 4e *Gasp!*. They lifted so much from Greyhawk in that edition it just seemed the natural thing to do. I should also point out that this is an online game in Foundry, so that's why 4e. Anyway, they've provided a lot of data in the adventure books but I've picked up the original modules to flesh out the whole thing. I find the old modules are fantastic for that. Except for one grognard in the 5 man party I have now, everyone is completely new to Greyhawk and TOEE. Feels good to pass on the experience to a new generation.
    Again loved your breakdown, gave me loads of ideas as well.

      I am glad that another group found my video helpful in running the campaign. I created a series of these video's and plan to make more. I been keeping details out so far as I am still running it and do not want to give away too much before my players get there :)

    This is tempting me to look at running this for some locals who haven't experienced AD&D/old-school gaming. I just have almost zero confidence I could do it right.

      I see that! Well, that is the idea what my Verbobonc Campaign Guide 576cy project is for. Every location, npc, organization and plot has articles with all the details you need to know including a bit of flavor text and dialog. You should make it easy on yourself and just start the players at Hommlet. My interactive map and articles on WorldAnvil should make it easy. RIght now I am almost done writing up a PDF for printing at your table of the side quests of Hommlet too.

    I sold most of my fantasy and D&D stuff as I simply do not use it any more. The only stuff I kept is my Greyhawk modules, books and boxed sets. I have the old and new Temple of Elemental Evil adventure modules. I also have the T1 Village of Hommlet. I have just starting watching a ToEE play though on UA-cam.

    Module T1-4 is tied to mega-modules A0-A4 and GDQ 1-7
    so the Slavers of A0-A4 would supply the slaves needed

      Aye, I agree sir! The mega campaign. Officially they are not really connected. But it can work and many DM's have. There has been some excellent articles outlining that out by Greyhawk Grognard. So much is going on in the Verbobonc area with the TOEE. Slavers from the Wild Coast provide slaves as well as bandits and pirates within a 100 mile radius of TOEE do as well. So many hooks for the players to zero on on the activities of the Temple.

    But, but, but.... announcing the Campaign as "The Temple of Elemental Evil" is sort of a giveaway, isn't it?

    • @3orcs
      @3orcs  2 роки тому +1

      Actually, my campaign is called "Cults of Greyhawk". But that would be harder to search for on UA-cam. Key words for more viewers is the tricky thing. Personally, I dont care if the players know they are going thru that module. Because I have expanded and changed the original material so much it wouldn't matter. Sure, they could go straight for the Temple. But they would get killed if they go to low level. Also, I have dozens of plot hooks and leads that keeps them busy all over the Viscounty. The TOEE has 6 more bases out there besides the Moathouse that I developed.

    I've always wanted to run Temple of Elemental Evil, however it's tough at my age to meet players, nevermind players who are willing and able to commit to a long-term campaign, nevermind be interested in old school D&D. It feels so out-of-reach unless you're one of the lucky folks who is still playing with the same group of friends of 20+ years

    • @3orcs
      @3orcs  Рік тому +1

      Agreed, the last group lasted 25 sessions a few months ago. But unfortunately, some had to go and some joined too late. Decided to start over yet again.

      If you don't mind me asking, where do you meet/recruit new players?@@3orcs

    • @3orcs
      @3orcs  Рік тому

      @Madkingstow I can answer best i can. Typically I try to find like minded players of old school D&D at gaming stores, conventions and Facebook posts looking for players. I am very picky of my players. They need to be mature and stable minded, reliable, highly excited, and interested in playing. Also, they most be roleplayers. I found that since the 80s. Most players are just board gamers that think roleplaying is coming up with. Character name and a few battle roars. Getting them to describe their actions is beyond them. Acting voiced are not required or expected but fun if they do.

    • @Madkingstoe
      @Madkingstoe Рік тому +1

      I completely agree about the quality of players these days.
      I hope to go to some US conventions some day but since I live in Canada it's going to be a bit more complicated. I'll keep an eye out for Facebook groups though. Thanks for the reply!@@3orcs

    Where can I get resources for Verbobonc?

  • @CotaViking

    I am pretty new to the world of Greyhawlk, I ran hommlet for a couple of groups, and I am trying to wrap my head around the TOEE to do exaxcly what you done, set a good enviorment for roleplay and story.
    However I found myself lost in the lore, other modules and articles. Does anybody have a sugestion to how to get to know the whole of greyhawlk? There is not much on youtube as Forgotten Realms.

    • @3orcs
      @3orcs  3 роки тому +3

      Agree'd, over the years the great guys over at CanonFire.com and grognard blogs there has been a huge amount of detail provide for this campaign. It took me 2 years to gather all that information and incorporate it into my personal "Cults of Greyhawk" campaign. Created over a dozen villages, hundreds of NPC's, other TOEE outposts bigger than the Moathouse. It was a lot of work! I have to be careful what I share of my campaign world publicly since much of this information is taken from these articles and Living Greyhawk modules. Everything I did was converted to the 576 cy campaign. I am trying to create video's to share my work but it has to be limited without upsetting any IP's. Finding artwork to share is an issue too. But for a personal campaign for your players is a different matter.

    Dude you are all over the place. Write down an orderly outline and script and then make a video A.B.C. This is lousy.
