Have seen fouls given when Ronnie was on the yellow. The cue ball was that close to the yellow that when he hit it, his cue would be touching both balls at the same time making it a foul. If you listen to the sound it makes you can hear it. Glad it was't given though.

    • @tonysplattery
      @tonysplattery Рік тому +1

Strictly speaking, that should be classed a 'push shot', but players get away with it when 'playing away from' as opposed to 'through' the object ball.
Of course, there is simultaneous contact between the tip and cue-ball and the cue-ball and object ball when playing away from the object ball in a 'touching ball' situation and that is not deemed a foul.
I also believe that if you are on a colour, after having potted a red, if the cue-ball ends up in a touching ball situation with one of the colours, say the brown, it's optional for the player to nominate another colour, say the yellow, and pot that in order to continue his break. Or, if he prefers, he could nominate the brown and simply 'play away' from it in order to play a safety shot. He could also nominate the brown and play away but into any other ball, because it would be considered that he had played the brown first.
However, if he nominated the brown, which he was touching, but then the cue-ball struck and potted the yellow, that would be a foul stroke.
Or, how about this - you've potted a red and you've ended up touching ball on the black, which is in the jaws of the pocket. You could, in theory, nominate the black and play away from it on to a cushion and then back onto the black in order to pot it. Or you could nominate the black and play away from it but then hit a red which you then play off a cushion and onto the black and pot it that way, given that you were deemed to have played the black first.
Not that any of that is particularly relevant here, I just found it an interesting subject for 5 minutes. I would love to be corrected by a professional referee if I'm wrong - maybe the rules have changed since my day.

What Hossein Vafaei said about O'Scumivan is what many others in the game feel about him, however because the latter puts bums on seats (both figuratively and literally) and makes the likes of Hearn a load of money, he and most of the other players, pundits and presenters do/say nothing to stop O'Scumivans antics and his disrespect for the game, one that may well be the only thing that stopped him from spending his life crawling around in the gutter acting like an even bigger git than he already is.

O'Sullivan is the game. He brings the money for the sport.
Alex Higgins and Jimmy White were the crowd pullers in the 80s and 90s and they were controversial playing drunk and high on drugs but they're real and not frightened of saying what they think.
We don't need a bunch of Shaun Murphys claiming to be gentleman and disrespecting others.
We don't need 12 Chinese gamblers fixing games or Mark Kings, Stephen Lees or John Higgins' fronting the sport for the youth.
We need talent, characters, controversy to a reasonable extent, publicity, showmen, flair players and big personalities.
No wonder snooker is on its arse these days.
They're all a bunch of Barry Hearns nodding dogs with nothing to say wandering from venue to venue every week tired and soulless.
None of them even have a sense of humour anymore other than Mark Williams.
Even the flair players are dull as dirt off the table. They all look miserable, stressed out and the ridiculous number of tournaments with snooker available to watch every week has taken the shine off the triple crown events and decreased the winnings in those events too.
How is the prize money less than the 90s in the world's? How is the 147 only £40k now in 2023 when it was £147k in 1996?
Why does the game not put any money into grass roots and snooker clubs to generate the next generation?
Without Ronnie O'Sullivan they wouldn't get the sponsorships to even fund all the prize money and events.
The future of snooker is in China.
Once Ronnie O'Sullivan retires the British heritage of snooker dies a death.
      There's no ideas.
Snooker should be creating rivalries and animosities between players even if it's staged to stir interest.
They're all hugging and kissing and rubbing each others bottoms.
They need someone to say 'i hope I draw 'that arsehole' because I can't stand him, that would be all over the papers, then you have a grudge match.
The 'gentlemanly' aspect of snooker was admirable in the past when there were gentleman.
In 2023, no youth are interested in middle class men in suits arse licking each other and hugging.

That blue luca missed was understandable he had tiny angle on it and to load it with right to force the angle he just forced it too much and not only that any shot becomes missable when you use side spin

If there was any whiff of match fixing I think Ronnie would be the first to call it out. He doesn't need any help or edge out there & it could only ever be a negative for him

Ronnie should donate the prize money to a good cause.
Because of his arrogant and unsportsmanlike behavior.
He's slowly losing all respect for his opponent, the sport and the fans.
