Alvis is to the Monado what Pneuma is to the Aegis, but he's not exactly a blade since he left the original univese before Klaus fully developed the blade system, he is like the raw power behind blades, and unlike blades in Alrest which can only resonate with one person at a time, Alvis is legitimately in resonance with the entire world.
@@ag9953 I think of it the same way. If we think about the Bionis universe as a system, then Alvis is basically the program that manages it. A Monado is essentially a 'key' that Alvis gives 'administrators' (or "gods" like Zanza, Meyneth and Shulk, for a little while) to allow them to have power over and make changes to that system, hence why Shulk was able to remake the world, to a degree, after defeating Zanza. You could define it as direct resonance with 'gods' and passive resonance with everyone else, since obviously not everyone has a Monado. I saw Alvis as basically the one true god of the Bionis world, but he couldn't really make decisions without input from his administrators, just like how a computer can't do much without someone running it.
@@questionmarkquestionmarkques Think of Alpha as the Ontos Core itself, he is little more than a machine whose purpose is to serve humanity. Alpha deemed all others but the City people as 'unworthy' or pale imitations of humanity and sought to create a new world where only the City people existed. A is a little more complicated as she still is machine-like but has emotions to balance that out. If we imagine Ontos as a computer, then A is essentially the 'data' saved from Ontos' time as Alvis. This is why A is compassionate toward all humankind whereas the cold-hearted machine side of Alvis, Alpha, is not. Alpha has no real emotions, A does and uses those emotions to balance out her machine side. Alpha may look like Alvis and, to a degree, he is, but since the original Alvis' data was removed from him and turned into A, in many ways he is also not.
It's more meant to say the sword belongs to Shulk so he better use it well instead of just standing there like he previously mentioned. Alvis basically chose Shulk as his driver, so he is expecting lot of things from him.
When I played through definitive edition and met alvis for the first time I instantly knew he would be my favorite character. I'm so glad he's getting some more attention in xenoblade 3
Alvis betrayed everyone around him in 1. He ultimately helped shulk because he knew it would lead into zanza being killed; zanza was no longer useful to Alvis anymore and neither was mayneth. Ironically I think Dickson was in on the plan because of it never feels like he was truly out to get the party. "If you can't beat so-and-so, how you can you expect to beat me/zanza?" He was testing us and claims a being a martyr wasn't for him. Zanza projected his complex and power so loud and proudly that we never second guessed that he _knew_ he wasn't the true God and he 100% knew all along who actually ran things.
Alvis literally betrayed everyone over and over in 1. While he ultimately lands on Shulk's side, it would make sense even without being split in two that he would turn on him. I personally was very worried about this sort of thing when Shulk gave up the Monado's at the end of 1 due to Alvis' simulations of his friends.
The ‘Alpha’ that you see in xc3 is not the same as Alvis. The alvis from xc1 was bonded to Zanza, and later Shulk, which is what let him experience emotion and act with free will. Remember, ‘Alvis’ is the software running in the Ontos computer core After xc1, Ontos is reset and so a new program starts running, except that now it has no one to bond with, so it goes for ‘default settings’ (this is why it looks like Alvis, it has no imagination to actually design its own body). This is ‘Alpha’ the villain of xc3 fr. When grandpa uses ouroboros power on na’el he hits alpha, and releases the ‘spirit’ I.e. the memories and emotions like how in the base game partners share memories. This spirit in turn becomes A, designs a new body and the game begins. Meanwhile alpha being a machine shrugs and keeps on chugging because emotions are for meatbags. Sorry for unloading on you like that, just thought it’d help.

What a nice man, I sure hope that he doesn't do anything malicious.

they didnt though? that was alpha, alvis was A at the time who was fighting against it
