Its the negative smart ass comments that are really disheartening. Atleast hes down in the stall trying to teach something to someone, not piled up in a recliner watching reruns of Emergency. Its alot of what's wrong with today's fire service, negative criticism...pointing fingers tearing each other down when we should be building each other up...sharing whatever knowledge we may think we have. Ive had so many rookies come out of school with little to no confidence in there ability to do the job because they are too worried about the repercussions of messing up and looking stupid. I personally know this guy...young yes...but a Great Dude..Great Fireman....Keep up the good work.
I like the knot idea and will definitely be adding that to my strap. I however leave my strap connected and long. When I go to mask up, I'll move my helmet back to rest at my bottle. Once my mask and hood are in place, move helmet back over onto my head. I personally have found it to be quick and efficient. I also will prevent someone from kicking mu helmet. haha
Good tips, but I think the most important point you made was understated.... What ever you do, do it the same every time! That is how you become professional. I personally have a long leather chinstrap that has a custom button to a set length so I don't have a "Tardtail" lol. and when I mask up I us my left hand to drape the chin strap over so the helmet is like a purse (yeah I know, insert comment here) and mask up and the left hand holds the chin strap in place to it clears my mask etc. That way is very common in my department, a major advantage is we can mask up while walking up the line or to the point of entry. Multi tasking helps us be very aggressive interior attack. Again, pick what you like and perfect it!
All negative comments posted from the day room recliners lol. “These kids don’t wanna work these days” No they switch departments to get away from the “we do it this way because that’s how we’ve always done it”
Awesome video!! I understand the negative comments, but I believe that some are missing a good point here. It is that this crew is thinking about being efficient and effective on the fire ground. Everyone has their own way, for example...look at the many RECEO variations. Overall, good job Brothers!! I wouldn’t mind working as part of your crew if I ever had the chance to.
I've always left mine connected and pull the strap over my mask by holding the helmet strap at the bottom and pulling it under the mask then placing the helmet on top of my head. Its simple, it works and you never have the hassle of trying to make that connection while under duress.
This is what you would call a meat slapper in boston "It hasn't let me down In 4 years" how much you want to bet he hasn't been to four structure fires in four years.
I keep mine around the back because I am used to grabbing back there when masking up. I know they say don’t keep it behind the crown but I do cause it is just easy for me
I leave mine connected and after masking up and putting my helmet on I pull the strap over my mask and pull the tab down and velcro. IU've never had an issue finding the tab with my glove.
Because in a fire with a pack on and a tool in hand in the dark it’s always easy to get a wedge out of your pocket...with a gloved hand....oh absolutely...it never becomes a shit show at all.
Hilal Yendork this guy has plenty I’m sure we could hound him for, but the door wedges in the helmet band and behind the shield are much more convenient. I have some in my pockets as well, but if you have the space, utilize it
So many salty commenters. Yall do realize you aren't required to watch this right? If you don't think it's useful you can just dislike it and move on, zero need to trash it just because yall don't need it
I always tilt the helmet forward when putting the helmet on, then pull it back. You're adding an extra step with this strap deal. anytime you're working hard, wearing an scba or not, you should be wearing a chinstrap so you don't drop that heavy ass east coast style helmet on someone else, or just look like john wayne or indiana jones. - Look good, don't be a bitch, and don't get lost. Stay safe boys.
Well thankfully I dont have to worry about a chin strap since my helmet has an adjustable hard hat like " strap system " in it so all I have to do is turn the knob in the back of the helmet to tighten it or loosen it and if you would like to know what station I am in , its Little Creek Volunteer Fire Company .
I used an old leather New Yorker with a Bourke eyeshield without a chinstrap for almost twenty-five years. Never had a problem with it falling off my noggin, probably because of my fat head (heh!). I knew it wasn't compliant and all, but I got away with it. But I also had to use one of those newer polycarbonate helmets for a time too when we got new bunker gear.
See, why do so many people put their chin strap by their shield. Like, if you are anyone but command, you'll be bending over and that means helmet goes bye bye. Use your damn chin strap
Great Video! Excuse me for butting in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you tried - Rozardner Lucky Interview Reality (probably on Google)? It is a good one off guide for firefighter interview tips without the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my cousin after a lifetime of fighting got astronomical results with it.
If you couldn't also notice, he has a passport front on, meaning if he chose to trasfer to a different dept or a different truck, he would only have to change the number on the passport, instead of having to buy a whole new front.
Probably asked for the saltiest helmet the dept had so he looks like a seasoned veteran. Kid probably hasn't worked a legit working fire. Get some experience. Also you can tell he's only worked one fire he only references the porch 😂🤣.
I just do my gloves last... Do the typical pants coat then hood then mask THEN helmet and them gloves depending on the gloves... Extrication and climbing gloves i put on after coat fire fighting gloves go on last
Appreciate video content! Sorry for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you ever tried - Rozardner Lucky Interview Reality (do a search on google)? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my m8 after a lifetime of fighting got amazing success with it.
Tip the sunglasses don't make you look cool young man. Sorry but it's the truth. And as for the video if a firefighter don't know how to wear a helmet he needs to go back to academy.
Or, you could just leave your helmet buckled and loose until you need to tighten it. Like you are supposed to.
EXACTLY!!!!!
I can tell he’s the guy I would hate to work with.....
Nate Clark lmaaaao
*Helmet falls off from forgetting to click in chin strap*...... yeah don’t do that it’ll get ya killed.
He just might be the funnest guy to work around. I'd be laughing endlessly all shift with the BS he throws out there!
Bump for this clown
I agree lmao. Just the way he talks annoys me.

seeing only 3 likes here is disheartening
Love those NFPA OSHA eye protectors - nothing like sunglasses and fire gear. The chicks dig that lol
It’s **totally** OSHA compliant right?!?! It’s all fun and games until he’s out on a run and smashes a window and glass gets in his eye. 😬
Thank you so much for showing us all how to put on a helmet, next could you show us how to put on a pair of gloves, cheers
Correction: I think he should get a pair first, and I ain't talking about gloves

This is the best way I've found, and it's what I teach my probies
7 minutes about helmet strapping... a subject that needs no explanation. "experience" he says, sure buddy.
It’s one topic for content! It’s a new generation where newer guys can go online and learn from others mistakes. Get over yourself
My dad was killed in a working fire when his helmet came off and he was struck. I thank you for teaching this.
Is this what kids actually train on in the firehouse, these days? How cute.

Step 1: Actually become firefighter.

Instructions not clear enough got my dick stuck in a

If you say "tard" while making the video do yourself and your department a favor and start over.
Agreed. But still useful information and good tip
dug2fire is it really a big deal,
Hahahahah whoops! Chief wasn’t around to hear it lol
This is what you would call a meat slapper in boston "It hasn't let me down In 4 years" how much you want to bet he hasn't been to four structure fires in four years.
Flaps NEVER down.
I don't unbuckle my chin strap.. Leave it lose and set it on your pack, mask up bring it back onto your head and tighten it
Free helmet tip: just get a Gallet
Christ mate! Just put your bloody helmet on.
Hardly ‘rocket science’ is it?
1:50 “if my eyes are closed like this” huh? Keep it simple, don’t over do it. Appreciate the energy tho.
Newbie video. He'll grow up one day.
Lol,yup
Did he grow up yet?
Lmao
FIREFIGHTERS ARE SMOKIN HOT
How many smoke eaters are laughing at masking up? 🚒🤣
Ah lung cancer
My dept does both wildland and structural fires
What style of traditional helmet is that?
Fire protection at its finest.
I got a question? how you donning a helmet while you are wearing a scba mask?
Very informative video, looks like its coming from alot of experience...............
what helmet and bend is that leather ?
Or you could put all of your gear on while en-route to the Call, as it takes some time to get there anyway.
I understand about the strap of the fire helmet. I used my red fire helmet during my training exercises.
I keep mine around the back because I am used to grabbing back there when masking up. I know they say don’t keep it behind the crown but I do cause it is just easy for me
I never take my helmet off to mask up... I just slide it back on my neck while masking up.
I leave mine connected and after masking up and putting my helmet on I pull the strap over my mask and pull the tab down and velcro. IU've never had an issue finding the tab with my glove.
Dude that's cool, I'll use the technique
You’ve never been in fire!
😂😂
No, i'm a junior
7 mins i will never get back
Cept you're wearing Rope Rescue gloves it appears, and not structural gloves. I can see the concept though.
or you could just do your gloves last
Smarter right😂
A seven minute video on your chin strap. Cool.
good intro song
Ear flaps? Jesus.
Put that wedge In Your pocket...... 🤦♂️
"bUt itS COol"
Because in a fire with a pack on and a tool in hand in the dark it’s always easy to get a wedge out of your pocket...with a gloved hand....oh absolutely...it never becomes a shit show at all.

Did he just say a minute to mask up?? We are expected to mask up in 10 seconds max
Lol
That’s a decent eBay leather helmet you got there lol
Dj P it’s a N6A more expensive then most leather helmets bud...
Well yeah I kinda noticed when he said “Sam Houston” but good job there kid! Lol
Sums up the fire service in 7:00...
Over thinking a helemt strap. Geez

Or just buy a san fran chin strap...
What type of helmet it is?
Mateusz Ciszewski its called a metro style helmet but im not sure the proper name for it
Ok thanks. Do you know from what kind of material are made USA helmets? ;d
it's a Sam Houston helmet made by Cairns and brother. it's leather. a metro style helmet is more round. it's called traditional not metro.
Thanks man. :P Are they only made from leather? :D
Experience.....#trainingfires😂😂
Also curious what kind of helmet is that?
Sam Houston size medium
A non-nfpa compliant type due to the bourkes
That used to be how I'd spot those, but if I'm not mistaken they've actually came out with at least variant that is compliant!
I think M.P. is doing something now that you mention that

Woooooooow
WHERES MY WILDLAND SQUAD
Please tell me this is supposed to be a joke...
If the video isn’t, he sure is
God Forbid we update helmet designs after all these years.....................
😅 I think it's a manekin .
helmet is useless without chinstrap done up

When can we go out??
Vollies 🤦♂️
what’s the song u used
Aaron Lewis, country boy
Since MSA acquired the French GALLET, US firefigthers should put those old helmets to the museum, and progress to modern ones...

@@canevousregardepas6042 Nope. #LeatherForever
Why does your helmet only say your last name? Mine says my department and my position (firefighter, engineer, medical, etc)
If you couldn't also notice, he has a passport front on, meaning if he chose to trasfer to a different dept or a different truck, he would only have to change the number on the passport, instead of having to buy a whole new front.
Not every place has the same setup there smart guy
Because every department does it different idiot lol
Lol four years 😂😂😂
How about some eye protection
Where’s your visor bro 😂
Probably asked for the saltiest helmet the dept had so he looks like a seasoned veteran. Kid probably hasn't worked a legit working fire. Get some experience. Also you can tell he's only worked one fire he only references the porch 😂🤣.
I just do my gloves last... Do the typical pants coat then hood then mask THEN helmet and them gloves depending on the gloves... Extrication and climbing gloves i put on after coat fire fighting gloves go on last
Buck Berthod usually my strap goes around the back of my helmet its easier for me
I did that with my 1010!
Seriously?
He kind of looks like Chaning TaTiam
Wtf is this
Or you just just click your regulator in after you put your helmet on and stop trying to look cool
HERO
This is just terrible.
