Excellent. They really take the time to explain the body mechanics and exactly what they're going for at the moment and not to be going into the "What if's" Olympics.

    Great video. 👍 !
The elbow/knees are the fulcrum [and the "weight"]. The best place to be is "beside" the line. This is traditional Wing Chun [with actual understanding rather than empty, pantomimining movement].
The thumb is the "grip" [see the Wing Chun knives for illustration... the "blade" represents the outer ridge of the forearm and the "thumb" is there for disarms or breaking grip].
Even if our opponent has long fingers, simply sink your elbow [and knees] and think of "crossing" & levering the "line" of their forearm over the thumb [more energy than "movement]. Early in the Siu Nim Tao we see the "crossing" idea. It is NOT meant to demonstrate a "technique" or "application" but to enforce a principle of energy and line.
I wish I could elaborate more but it would take too much time, and I feel you already understand these things. There is SO much hidden in the 1st form.
But we must seek depth in simplicity with humility. Ip Man Wing Chun is the Way of Wisdom; it hides from pride.
Wing Chun is an energy-based art NOT a movement-based art. Ignore the arrogant and don't worry about those who ignore or mock the truth.
A fool sees less at the top of a mountain than the wise see at the bottom of the well.
LOVE your channel and passion, as well as your thoughtful approach!
Remember: begin from "center" and end [or send] to their "center". All lines lead to center [the point forward of the lowest vertebrae where the opponent cannot avoid force: the gearbox], but every line or path can have two destinations: beginning and end. We can also "take" their center via the line [drawing or pulling the line... seen in Silat with the drawing step]. The "apex" [tip of the triangle] is the end of the "line" [point of the spear and greatest force], but ALSO the point of greatest imbalance if we "take" the force there.
Your students are very blessed! Continue to explore, express & spread this beautiful art. God bless you. Sorry for the still-too-long comment.
