@@anamarie7851 I have educated myself a lot for more than thirty years about the making of this movie. Judy Garland was not molested by any of the Singer Midgets. That is a fact. It's also a fact that she got along well with them. Meinhardt Raabe, who played the Coroner, once said of her, "We were accepted as equals by her. She would sit down on the steps on the set with the rest of us and chat every day."
(Quoted in "The Wizard of Oz: The Official 50th Anniversary Pictorial History" by John Fricke, Jay Scarfone, and William Stillman, published 1989 by Warner Books, ISBN number 0-446-39186-7, page 99.)

Her husband literally admitted she was being touched by the munchkins in an inappropriate manner while the men on set would degrade her for being a women. You’re honestly disgusting trying to justify the reasoning for her being slapped when it was uncalled for. She was also given many pills to keep her awake so she doesn’t drop dead while acting along with starving her to stay slim in her corset during the film. You’d think educating yourself for “30 years” would make you come correct, but I guess not. This cast put her through hell, period. She was simply a very forgiving and generous woman.

@@anamarie7851 Sid Luft was Judy's third husband and wasn't even a part of her life when she was making "Wizard," and he knew full well that scandal sells, and so packed his book with lies. His and Judy's daughter Lorna was much more truthful in her book, "Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows." And Lorna has stood up for the Singer Midgets, many of whom she knew personally, and has said very plainly that they were there to do a job and didn't care to jeapordize that job by maltreating people.
Nobody on the set "degraded her for being a woman." On the contrary, as Judy said of director Victor Fleming, "He realizes that a girl who is sixteen is practically grown-up. He shows me all the courtesies he would to Hedy Lamarr. That’s very important to me.” Her three co-stars loved her and she adored them, and kept in touch with them as much as showbiz made it possible for the rest of her life. She worked again with Ray Bolger in "The Harvey Girls" and had him as a guest on her T.V. show. And when Bert Lahr died, she dedicated a performance of "Over the Rainbow" to "my dear Cowardly Lion."
She wasn't starved-- for the very reason that it wouldn't do for the star to be fainting in the middle of a take. It was just less food than she would have preferred to eat. The thing was that she had a very womanly figure at 16, but she was playing a 12 year-old, so measures were taken to reduce her voluptuousness.
If the information I got from books such as Aljean Harnetz's "The Making of the Wizard of Oz," non-sensationalist documentaries created before the incendiary days of UA-cam, and conversations with four of the Singer Midgets don't make me "come correct" in your view, then perhaps you need your view adjusted, because I was looking at the facts.
It seems that some people want Judy to have gone through hell, to the extent that they get angry and confrontational with someone who is trying to assure them that she didn't.
You watch this video and see if you can honestly say that this is a victim of abuse and one of her abusers:

Totally ironic for one of the funniest scenes in cinema history from the undisputed classic THE WIZARD OF OZ, that during the shooting of this scene while Bert Lahr is delivering his script as the cowardly lion director Victor Fleming gave a heavy slap on the face of Judy Garland since she just kept on laughing and shouted at Garland "You're here not to laugh have fun and play, you are here to work!". And while viewers may be laughing out loud watching- It's obvious from the other actors' faces in spite of their heavily painted masks and make up that they are flushed from the incident.
Then on another time while shooting director Victor Fleming called everybody on the set to apologize for having slapped Judy Garland and said if any of the men would like to punch him on the face they are welcome. Then Garland turned to the director and kissed him on the cheek (as told from a source behind the movie's scenes)
