Let me tell you my experience with BOA. I had only a savings acct with them and I had about 6 or 7k in that acct. I got pneumonia and had to be in ICU for awhile & was unable of course to make some kind of deposit. Well the day I got out of the hospital and I was still very weak & sick and there was snow on the ground. I came home to a letter from BOA that stated they were closing my acct for ABANDONMENT. Who abandons 7k? I also had a POD with my daughter's name on it that they did not notify her of anything. When I called the corporate office concerning the letter I was told, "Well you could've been dead for all we knew." I said," So, you normally send letters of notification to dead people? And why didn't you notify my daughter who was POD on the acct.?" They told me it was not up to them to notify POD's but for POD's to notify them and show a death certificate. Ironic that they don't need a death certificate to steal my money. After telling them they were crooks in 3 piece suits which made the lady furious I got up off my sick bed and out in the cold again to go close my acct and get my money out of the local bank before the acct was frozen or closed by corporate. After I was handed my money and they asked why close my acct. I then showed them the letter and the rest of what happened to me and said I would never bank with BOA again and tell everyone I know about my situation. They still send me letters wanting me to open a credit card acct. with them. I rip it up and send it right back in their free postpaid envelope!
+Angela Angell The state/federal governments determine the guidelines & time frames for an account being declared inactive, dormant, and finally, abandoned (graduated statuses). As long as there is in-person activity (like a dollar deposit made inside the banking center) once every 18 months, that prevents the account from going into an "Inactive" status. Direct deposits & withdrawls done online are not considered in-person activity. I urge you to review the paperwork involved with your account, and if they did not follow these guidelines, seek legal counsel. This is my line of work, and I deal with this everyday. I'll be happy to look over anything you received from them regarding declaring your account abandoned. Thanks! :)

Bank of America is a horrible bank. After dealing with them for 2 years I had enough. I closed all my accounts, my husband, sister and brother in law also closed their accounts. There was a quote that BoA used. "Higher standards" which is a joke... more like higher abuse of account holders! My accounts have been closed for 9 years and I havent had a banking issue since with my new bank. If anyone ever mentions using BoA I always advise them to go another route!
Girl: you are NOT qualified for this position, cause you have a heart, and you have feelings. I have been banking with BofA since 1996. When the market fell off the bottom, BofA froze all my line-of-credits. I had to borrow from my retire accounts to pay my employees. All banks lend you the money when you don't need.

During this time I worked for BofA as a ILQA specialist which stand for In Line quality control assurance in the HAMP and NO-HAMP Loan Modification department HAMP is a program that helpe low income families modify their existing loans, giving them a lower interest rate and payment based on their income, NO HAMP was for those eligible for the program but had no lost to income and could afford to pay their mortgage at the same rate and it was. I was told by my boss to stop qualifying people that was eligible for the HAMP program that they qualified for and put the on the NON-HAMP which they were not. NON-HAMP would put a struggling homeowner and HIGH RISK because they were unable to make their mortgage payments. BofA didn't care they want the money are they wanted the property so they could resell it, because I choose to follow proper protocol, instead of just throwing everyone in deeper debt, they fired me. BANK OF AMERICA IS DIRTY in every way possible

this is exactly why I closed my account with them because they fucked me over with a bunch of fees. I was told that if I deposit money within 24 hours I will avoid overdraft fees. I did that and still got charged. the more annoying part was that bank of America tried to autopay my credit card bill like 3 or 4 times. it was their error because they were supposed to only try once...so I got slapped with multiple overdraft fees because of that (that's what the lady on the phone told me) I could not understand it since she said it was their mistake...but she would only "void" one of the fees....it was so frustrating....I paid it all off so my credit score isn't held hostage and I immediately closed my account in that moment. it was funny because they then ask me "sorry to hear you are leaving may we ask why so we can fix it?" haha. I explain it and she is like "oh sorry to hear but we can only pardon one of the fees" uggughhhgghughhhh

What are you going to do with your money? This gesture would imply there is somewhere you can keep your money where this does not go on. That alone won't work. Two things must happen to make this stop. First, you must get involved to help pass the Berry Amendment to the constitution: (1) Money is not speech; (2) Corporations are not people. Then, with money out of politics, you must support candidates like Elizabeth Warren to end these practices. There is no such thing as a "good" bank.
Ouch! That job is tough. I work in card services and BOA and we are weighed on our metrics as well. Have to keep our fee refunds at a certain level, talk time ridiculously low, get good surveys, and make sure you only use the restroom at your break, never any other time. I've been kept up at night and a bunch of us have had panic attacks. You DID DO the right thing, but again in this company, you can't be human.....
The one fact that was never mentioned, maybe because it is unknown, is how did B of A or how does any credit card company create the electronic digits they loan out? In other words, where does the money come from? It is created from thin air. So no credit card company has a vested interest. They bring nothing of true intrinsic value to the table. Plus, what is credit? According to Modern Money Mechanics credit equals debt. When you use credit you are not making a purchase since you have no asset and only debt to bargain with. Charging us usury is fraud.
It is actually coming from the Federal Reserve Bank being loaned out to other banks. But same scenario applies. They get the money at rock bottom interest and charge credit card users outrageous fees.
What about a person lose their job or their spouse like me, and I don't have money in my pocket, I can not leave my kids hungry , do not judge, today you can have everything and you can lose tomorrow everything too.

When they transferred my loan to Nationstar they stold my first payment to Nationstar and to this day will not return it. I may even lose my house over this. Good for you! I'm sure since then you've found something much more fulfilling than these folks. I too worked for a bank...or rather a credit union in the atm dept. If there was an overdraft I had to sometimes remove funds from their Christmas savings account or other misc accts. Gladly, this wasn't my main function as I was hired to investigate atm fraud which is very interesting. Unfortunately, I still have a meager account there and I request my balances from time to time via text. So one day, in a Friday afternoon, I checked my balance and it said one amt...so I was relieved to be able to use it. Apparently some fee was charged which wasn't yet posted and by Monday morning my account was overdrawn and I was charged an overdraft fee. I was furious. Needless to say, I never Recd the funds back. Now that I have enough in the account again I am careful and watch it with an eagle's eye. Stay honest and keep doing the right things! We need more folks in this world like us! xoxo

I had to leave my position with MBNA, a company bought out by Bank of America, for the same reason. The term customer service meant collections. I could not sleep at night because of the predatory collection practices taking place and had to quit. Congratulations on taking the moral high ground and exposing BOA for the hypocrites that they are.
I entered that location a year ago with a 14k check from Bank of America during peak commercial deposit hr to cash. And as the only African American in site was denied service. I was told that the bank did not keep that much cash. Took it to the Hwy 92 branch where there was diversity in customer and employee, and they cashed it in 20 minutes. And people swear racism doesn't exist!
Bank of America doesn't deserve to carry the "America" name. Not only because of you, because of everything that company has done. You did the right thing.

That's why Credit Unions are the way to go. Close any account you have with BOA, Wells Fargo, Chase, Citi , etc. Find a credit union fast!!

Screw all the big banks n corporations
Bank of America is a horrible bank. After dealing with them for 2 years I had enough. I closed all my accounts, my husband, sister and brother in law also closed their accounts. There was a quote that BoA used. "Higher standards" which is a joke... more like higher abuse of account holders! My accounts have been closed for 9 years and I havent had a banking issue since with my new bank. If anyone ever mentions using BoA I always advise them to go another route!

Girl: you are NOT qualified for this position, cause you have a heart, and you have feelings. I have been banking with BofA since 1996. When the market fell off the bottom, BofA froze all my line-of-credits. I had to borrow from my retire accounts to pay my employees. All banks lend you the money when you don't need.

During this time I worked for BofA as a ILQA specialist which stand for In Line quality control assurance in the HAMP and NO-HAMP Loan Modification department HAMP is a program that helpe low income families modify their existing loans, giving them a lower interest rate and payment based on their income, NO HAMP was for those eligible for the program but had no lost to income and could afford to pay their mortgage at the same rate and it was. I was told by my boss to stop qualifying people that was eligible for the HAMP program that they qualified for and put the on the NON-HAMP which they were not. NON-HAMP would put a struggling homeowner and HIGH RISK because they were unable to make their mortgage payments. BofA didn't care they want the money are they wanted the property so they could resell it, because I choose to follow proper protocol, instead of just throwing everyone in deeper debt, they fired me. BANK OF AMERICA IS DIRTY in every way possible

this is exactly why I closed my account with them because they fucked me over with a bunch of fees.
I was told that if I deposit money within 24 hours I will avoid overdraft fees. I did that and still got charged. the more annoying part was that bank of America tried to autopay my credit card bill like 3 or 4 times. it was their error because they were supposed to only try once...so I got slapped with multiple overdraft fees because of that (that's what the lady on the phone told me) I could not understand it since she said it was their mistake...but she would only "void" one of the fees....it was so frustrating....I paid it all off so my credit score isn't held hostage and I immediately closed my account in that moment. it was funny because they then ask me "sorry to hear you are leaving may we ask why so we can fix it?" haha. I explain it and she is like "oh sorry to hear but we can only pardon one of the fees"

That alone won't work. Two things must happen to make this stop. First, you must get involved to help pass the Berry Amendment to the constitution:
(1) Money is not speech;
(2) Corporations are not people.
Then, with money out of politics, you must support candidates like Elizabeth Warren to end these practices.

Ouch! That job is tough. I work in card services and BOA and we are weighed on our metrics as well. Have to keep our fee refunds at a certain level, talk time ridiculously low, get good surveys, and make sure you only use the restroom at your break, never any other time. I've been kept up at night and a bunch of us have had panic attacks. You DID DO the right thing, but again in this company, you can't be human.....

The one fact that was never mentioned, maybe because it is unknown, is how did B of A or how does any credit card company create the electronic digits they loan out? In other words, where does the money come from? It is created from thin air. So no credit card company has a vested interest. They bring nothing of true intrinsic value to the table.
Plus, what is credit? According to Modern Money Mechanics credit equals debt. When you use credit you are not making a purchase since you have no asset and only debt to bargain with. Charging us usury is fraud.
It is actually coming from the Federal Reserve Bank being loaned out to other banks. But same scenario applies. They get the money at rock bottom interest and charge credit card users outrageous fees.
How was the money created in the first place? Out of thin air! It’s 100+% usury!

I think I may have spoken to you when I went through my home modification. You were the only decent Representative out of dozens and dozens that I dealt with. You should be commended for speaking up and letting the public know what a low-life Bank Bank of America really is. When they transferred my loan to Nationstar they stold my first payment to Nationstar and to this day will not return it. I may even lose my house over this. They are probably the lowest of the low and you were so wise to quit that job. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming forward and making this video. Good for you! I'm sure since then you've found something much more fulfilling than these folks. I too worked for a bank...or rather a credit union in the atm dept. If there was an overdraft I had to sometimes remove funds from their Christmas savings account or other misc accts. Gladly, this wasn't my main function as I was hired to investigate atm fraud which is very interesting.
Unfortunately, I still have a meager account there and I request my balances from time to time via text. So one day, in a Friday afternoon, I checked my balance and it said one amt...so I was relieved to be able to use it. Apparently some fee was charged which wasn't yet posted and by Monday morning my account was overdrawn and I was charged an overdraft fee. I was furious. Needless to say, I never Recd the funds back. Now that I have enough in the account again I am careful and watch it with an eagle's eye.

I had to leave my position with MBNA, a company bought out by Bank of America, for the same reason. The term customer service meant collections. I could not sleep at night because of the predatory collection practices taking place and had to quit. Congratulations on taking the moral high ground and exposing BOA for the hypocrites that they are.
My parents grilled me for quitting my job for similar reasons ( college student BTW).

I entered that location a year ago with a 14k check from Bank of America during peak commercial deposit hr to cash. And as the only African American in site was denied service. I was told that the bank did not keep that much cash. Took it to the Hwy 92 branch where there was diversity in customer and employee, and they cashed it in 20 minutes. And people swear racism doesn't exist!
