    Hey guys and welcome to todays video where I give you an update on where I stand on products from The Ordinary. I always believe its fine to say we have changed our minds on products as our understanding, tastes and skin evolve so I wanted to keep you up to date.. Leave me a comment to let me know The Ordinary products you have changed your mind on.. Sending you lots of love xxxx

    I actually applaud people who change their mind/view point. I know I can change my opinions over time based on new information, new experiences etc. especially when it comes to skincare! There are so many variables with skincare ie your skin at any given moment, the ingredients, other things in your routine... that is why every product I test and review - I usually give it one 2nd chance in my testing phase to be sure it wasn’t a variable in my routine messing with my opinion.

    OK Rob, how is this possible? We seem to be skincare "twins" when it comes to Deciem products. The Buffet cause strange red bumps on my forehead, the azelaic acid pilled terribly and didn't play well with other products, glycolic acid was too rough on my skin where the lactic acid 10% is soothing. I love the niacinamide and don't get any drying when paired with my SubQ mist. And the peeling solution is my no. 1 face treatment, leaving my skin glowy and soft as a baby's bum!😂 This video is a "DIng, Ding, Ding" in my book! And, the one thing we CAN be sure of is our skin is going to change over the years.... which meand we must adjust what products we are using!❤️❤️

    • @MadAboutSkin
      @MadAboutSkin  3 роки тому +3

      Haha Patti, we can be Deciem twins for sure.. I think we have a similar approach to skincare which is that its not often the product which is the issue but the way we use it and whether it works for our skin type... I think if people take care to work out the products which go with their skin type and then make sure they dont overdo them then we would all have better skin for sure lol... I hope all is wonderful with you, its so so so cold here in the UK and we are supposed to be having even more snow on the way so I will be wrapping up warm this weekend for sure... sending you lots of love xxxx

    I was using TO buffet and having experiencing some oil resurfacing and breakouts, that were once controlled, and not having a clue for what was going wrong with my skincare routine. After seeing this video I stopped the buffet and in two days my skin was recovering and the breakouts stopped.
    I will put this product aside, it's not working for me. But fortunately it's working (very well) with my mom, so will not be wasted.

      I am a bit scared to use it in case of purging!! I have never had serious acne issues but I do get some pimples here and there sometimes! I wanted to give it a go but I'm scared cos I don't have any breakouts at the moment...I have some hyperpigmentation on my chin though. Currently using products from a local Cypriot herbal dermatologist plus some ordinary products: niacinamide, squalane, rose hip seed oil, marula oil, aha bha peeling solution, Vitamin c derivative and argireline. I fully recommend them for clearing skin. I am also on a prescription retinol a couple nights a week. Hopefully I muster the bravery to use lactic acid :)

    Also love The Ordinary peeling solution. I got purging from it the first few weeks and I was on the fence, but now my cystic acne is GONE. I've never had an exfoliant work so quickly and consistently. But you have to be careful to not over do it, sometimes twice a week is perfect for me and sometimes I can only do it once a week. I think a lot of people use it too often, put too much on, wear it too long, I bet majority of the complaints are people not following directions.

    Hi Rob prior to developing rosacea and using tretinoin, I liked the lactic acid and the "peel" from the ordinary. I couldn't use the lactic acid everyday and a max of a few minutes was enough with the peel for my skin. Now oh dear NO NO NO to both. I can't use a high strength lactic acid and instead use a PHA, whereas I can't use the peel at all - not even for a few seconds. My skin changed. The rosacea caused a surge in my sensitivity to a place where low ph products are a nightmare and I had to exclude all fragrance. I've always had eczema and fairly sensitive skin, but the rosacea and tretinoin use sent that sensitivity into hyperdrive. My skin does well with what I do use and has improved greatly with the tretinoin re bounce, texture, firming etc, but the cell turnover means I don't need much extra exfoliation anyway. I've used the buffet and the sub Q - they were fine, but I didn't see great results from either. The K beauty serums I use in their place also have peptides and give more soothing and brightening benefits. Azelaic acid has been a game changer though. i never liked the texture of the ordinary version on my dry skin, but I love the G&G and like the garden of wisdom version too. The face theory version is a bit too much for me due to the other ingredients included within it, but it will be excellent for oilier or less sensitive skin as it is a good product. Our skin does change over time, due to many factors eg other ingredients, weather, hormones etc etc etc and we can change our mind over any product due to this. Best wishes.

    Just wondering what are your thoughts regarding blaming TO trend recently in skincare community. Couple days ago, I saw a graph that imply popularity of TO correlated to skincare barriers damage. I tried to find that post again (on Instagram), but couldn't so I wasn't able to check the sources. But I starts to see a lot people blames TO for multiple reasons: one ingredient focus, high %, too affordable, etc. I love TO - the brand saves my skin. And yes, not all TO products work for my skin, but I found that pin the blames onto one brand is a bit much. Of course, TO has plenty things to improve for sure, but I worry this fear mongering will scare people away from such a affordable but wonderful brand.

    • @MadAboutSkin
      @MadAboutSkin  3 роки тому +3

      Hi hun, I find that trends come and go and some people in the community are quick to jump on things without considering the whole thing.. The Ordinary products have been through strict testing, does that mean they work for everyone, of course not but the notion that they are more likely to damage the skin barrier is ridiculous. The skin barrier is something which is impacted by a whole host of things and not just the products we use so it seems a little odd to pin this on one brand... sending you lots of love xxxx

Then I layered it with Niacinamide 10% and the consistency totally changed. It absorbed into my skin like a dream and it didn't feel tacky. The next morning my skin was hydrated and glowy, I definitely changed my mind about this product!

    I know I need heavy moisturizers in winter and more occlusive sunscreens for skiing but I have recently discovered that the change of seasons takes a while to affect my skin and I end up blaming the products instead of the weather. For years I have been abandoning products without thinking about this. I suspect that most of the things that have stopped agreeing with me (my stronger retinols, exfoliating acids, vitamin C, cleansers) will probably be fine again come summer.

    Hi Rob! Thanks for the nice content as always :) I want to try the lactic acid but I can't decide on the percentage. Is it too strong to start with 10%? (Also is it fine to use moisturizer as a final step after the Survival 30?) Thank you so much!

    • @MadAboutSkin
      @MadAboutSkin  3 роки тому +1

      Hey hun, its totally fine to use a moisturiser after any of the survival if you want to.. I would start with the 5% lactic see how it works on your skin then work up to the 10% if your skin tolerates the 5% well.. Sending you lots of love xxxx

    I so badly want to use and love the SubQ skin, but something in there doesn’t agree with my skin.😩 I have used it several times all over my face and a little on my neck where it especially leaves me dry and really irritated.
    Is it possible that my skin needs to get used to it like a retinol?? Please say yes!

    • @MadAboutSkin
      @MadAboutSkin  3 роки тому +1

      Hi hun thank you so so much for watching and it sounds to me that you are sensitive to something in the product as you shouldn't have to get used to a peptide.. I would recommend the geek and gorgeous liquid hydration which is a great alternative and should work well on increasing hydration and evening out the skin tone... sending you lots of love xxxxx

      @@MadAboutSkin Thanks for the advice and recommendation. My main reason for this purchase was because I wanted to incorporate peptides into my routine. (Never mind how much you rave about it. Lol)
      After a bit of research the sub q seemed like a much better product with more beneficial ingredients than TO ones.

    Which one is more affective? That lactic acid or the glycolic toner?
    I’m using the glycolic toner and it works for me but I’m wondering if the lactic acid is better/more affective? 🤔

    • @MadAboutSkin
      @MadAboutSkin  3 роки тому +1

      I personally find the lactic acid more effective as you get the same results but its more hydrating so if you have dry skin its a must... If you have oily skin then i would stick with the glycolic as it will be drying a little which is not a bad thing to minimise some of the oil.. I hope this makes sense.. sending you lots of love xxxx

    For me, I’ve changed my mind about the foundations. When they initially launched, I loved them. Then they stopped working for my skin.
    Same with the lactic acid. The initial launch was in a gel base and I enjoyed it a lot. Now it’s watery. I didn’t enjoy it after the reformulation but may pick it up again, to try. It has been a while 😆
    I also no longer use The hyaluronic acid. It’s in so many of my other products.
    Looking forward to the live tomorrow! Have an awesome rest of your Friday 😄

      It took my skin a couple of months to get used to the product, I had a few small pimples, so only used it 2/3 times weekly. I think many people use far too much product and use it daily or even twice daily. I now use it every other day and 1 to 2 drops. It's had an amazing result of many people, even with acne sufferers. You can opt for 5% niacinamide from other brands. Potentially you could have a reaction with Zinc. Sorry to hear it didn't work for up you and hope your skin has cleared up x
