Majorette has definitely been stepping up their game these past few years. Tooling up more classic cars (vintage line) and a deluxe line with rubber tires and more opening features.
their casting quality (and wheels) has improved somewhat as well.
I remember seeing Majorette toys available at department stores in the Buffalo, New York area in the mid 80's. Now, not so much - I've only come across a few of them at specialty toy shops.
I remember having some Majorette cars from the early '90s. I had that same black dump truck too. That one is long gone.
One detail that is almost always missing from all other brands, even premium brands such as M2, is the rear view mirrors on the doors. Other brands should take note of this detail and the transparent headlight as well, in my opinion. Love the videos! So much knowledge and very well presented. Thank you!
Remember going to a toy store in Toronto, around 1980/81. They had 1:64 Majorette models in really cool blister packs- my Mom purchased a BMW 7 Series for me in light green. Really cool at the time- all metal like you stated. Thanks for the video.
What a great memory! I too have vivid memories of certain car purchases from when I was quite young... it must be what keeps the collector passion going after all these years. One memory I have is from a trip with my parents to Montreal, Canada, when I was only about 8 or 9 years old (25 years ago)... We were in a dollar store and there was a dump bin full of Majorette cars for about a buck I was allowed to pick one. It was a yellow convertible mustang with an opening hood... and I still have it in my collection to this day.
That's great- glad you still have that car in your collection! Unfortunately I didn't hold on too many of my cars- either Matchbox, Tomica or Majorette- sad really. Have a few larger models, but no 1:64 scale from that period. Cheers!
Wow..awesome video O-Dawg...I love seeing this stuff.
When I was a kid we used to find Majorette in stores here in NZ too. But as you said they kind of disappeared for a couple of decades. I haven't seen them back here yet, but maybe they are expanding their regions again? Really impressed with what I saw and appreciate the thorough and entertaining review = )
diecasttvchannel hi go to this website and you can order online. price is very cheap and the shipping is amazing www.one2toys.com
Thank you for the comment and all your support over the years! Happy Holidays! I do believe Majorette is expanding, but I can't be sure. It would seem they have a lot of production in certain areas of the world.
Keep your eyes peeled on Majorette Australia's Facebook and Instagram pages. They're sharing info on NZ.
David Jones in Wellington already stocks some.
I do not see them out here but I did find them online. Nice presentation .👍 I will be purchasing a few soon.
majorettes were the cars of my childhood
Majorette was the cars of my childhood as well, in almost equal portions Hot Wheels and Matchbox
great video! very enjoyable. thanks
Great video ... great Majorette !
what you have called 'interesting textured door moldings' is in fact a rubber bumper thing of some sort. i mean at the real car. i've touched it first chance i had ... it was surprisingly flexible.
thanks for showing these majorettes.
I like that Majorette Chevrolet Trailblazer. I am still wating for that Majorette specific video.
30:23 There is ghost writing on the fender. All four I believe. You did see it.
Yes you are correct, I only noticed it after filming was done though.
I love the Porsche SUV but the back hatch has no glass! Lol looks like someone broke into it and stole their Christmas presents!
realy like the butterfly doors on the SLS AMG, Very happy to have that in my collection.
TheKingRacer007 It's gull wing doors actually
The Majorette vehicles that I own is the Mercedes Benz 190 E , Mercedes Benz GL , BMW 5 Touring Wagon , BMW Series 1 , BMW X6 , Jaguar F Type , Citreon CX Toyota Lite Ace , Audi Quattro ,Volvo 760 GLE and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
In 2012, I went to Canada and there were Majorette everywhere
Wow! fantasrtic vehicles! i have 5 of them as well i bought in a antique shop in the south america for 4.99$ there are quite expensive but there are fantastic! and worth it! Thanks for the vid again!
Thanks for the comment, and very cool you found them in South America!
Majorette is going to beat tomica
I sure hope they make a full car with the trunk and the hood and the common doors they used
I'm a bit bias on this one, because I love collecting majorette and probably one of the best diecast review on this channel. keep it up more Majorette reviews please.
Thanks! Will do! Happy Holidays Pack Rat Daddy!
Absolutly loving that majorette are rebounding and spreading across the world, more and more shops in england are starting to sell, as a matter of fact I bought the grey porsxhe cayanne in a trailer set with an exceptionally heavy airstream trailer deffinatly worth the buy
It wouldn’t surprise me if this video alone boosted the sales in North America
Hi great video, what do You think greenlight or majorette wich one make beter quality 1:64 scale cars?
Wow keep the good work
I love your videos
awesome models wish we got them here in the USA
Great vid - I have Citroen C4 Cactus (in yellow) on order, to rrive in February (a real one, I mean!)
Top show as usual mate, Majorette knocked this group outa the park on detail...come on Mattel. Man, you have a blessed and Merry Christmas and a stellar new year. All the best from Oz, Rod Keep your stick on the ice [the French pronounce Megane with the 'a' as in Amish]
Thank you and Happy Holidays Oz! All the best to you and yours!
O-Dawg
I hope you're following Majorette Australia on Instagram and Facebook. ;)
Grate for my car collection
From the EU
I liked all of them
Wow, i have a new appreciation! Thanks for the video
another great video,, majorette, my absolute favourite . I have reviewed some of these cars myself including the HONDA CR-Z
Very impressed with these. I have wondered about the quality of Majorette, and I must say they look just as detailed as premium U.S. brands. Hopefully we will see them on the US market some day, as I don't shop online. I feel that way about Tomica as well. I feel more international competition would keep domestic companies from slacking.
Agreed! Thanks Daniel Welch for weighing in on the video and subject of international brands. Happy Holidays to you and yours!
What part of ontario r u from
Great Haul of Majorette vehicles.I love the suspension on these.I especially enjoyed seeing the Citroen Cactus, the rally cars and the 2 Mercedes supercars at the end. Thanks for showing and happy holidays!
Thanks for watching and commenting! Happy Holidays JohnSTF72
I like how you have those plano cases gives me the idea to do the same and I wish the stores down here in Illinois where I live would get majorette do they still make trucks as in semis and that did you see those there?
I think they still make semi's, but not as realistic looking and not all metal anymore. Thanks for your message!
ah thanks for your reply I asked because theres no stores here in the states where I live at least not in Illinois I'm area anyway that I know of that sell majorette so I never know if majorette still makes big trucks and semis anymore
Cool gold ferrari! That white porshe is sick!! If you could give any additional info about that white porshe, i would like to try n find one.
They have a 5 pack with just classic cars in it that has or will come out this year.
I would like to see more retro cars in their line up.
An 80s-90s inspired collection would be sweet by using castings based off of the old ones especially that Hilux (would sell like hotcakes here in NZ).
Majorette gets a raw deal. If i were their ceo i would make em tru 1/64 scale and fix the wheel situation on the ones that need it.
Will there be more majorette cars of that kind
amazing majorettes. i have the cayenne
dude, how do you not just buy a case of whatever for new models and past years too if they are not crazy priced, it would save you mega time and effort
Very nice cars!! I collect them too, and I have over 1000 of them!! :)
Congrats!
Holy cow! Pickens are way better in Canada. Love them Majorettes.
I love the majorettes diecast...the quality is excellent....love them!!!!..but very pricey your right...
Happy Holidays, thanks for watching and all your great comments over the years!
These are usually the more expensive ones, there're also ones on a normal card without the collector card. Those where the basics and that's why these are called "Premium". I do have to say that I haven't found any 2016s on a normal card tho, maybe the gti but I'm not sure if that was last year or this year... Maybe they stopped making 'em, not sure. Over here in Belgium & France I've found 'em for €2.5-3.5 (depending on the series, normal carded ones used to be €2 and they had the same details) which is a great price considering that Hot Wheels are €2-2.5. You get waaay more play value and very nice detailed cars for your price, HWs just look cheap next to the Majorettes.
About that Cactus... don't worry for us Europeans it's also a very interesting design... lol, The first year or so that car came out irl it was very popular, you saw 'em everywhere but I feel like most people already got sick of it, I don't see too many arround anymore or atleast way less than there used to be. I really don't like it irl but I did pick up that Majo one as it is just a very well done casting. I did also do some research on the Cayenne vs GL classe and the GL is 10in longer irl than the Porsche. I knew it'd be quite a lot in difference as the Benz is just a huge car :P
And about the SLS and GT3... You want to be very carefull opening the doors on the sls, if you try to open 'em too far the door will crack off. And the Porsche does have GT3 RS on the fenders in gloss black but it's very hard too see, yeah yeah, the attention to detail with these is amazing for their price.
And just to end my long text, sorry for that but I'm just telling you everything I know about them and trying to express my love for 'em, :P The code on the base, that little sticker, I think that might be the production date but don't quote me on that :)
Great vid! Looking forward to future vids and of course, HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!
Bram Collier what does irl mean
The way u used it at least
I have the cactus and the merc Gl, I went to a streetside toystore in austria and the pegs where full of like a hundred majorettes and i picked up like six
I noticed a mild epiphany there, the price point is a bit high for many ,but the models are really quite amazing. In the uk the price varies and the there is an economic lineup that sacrifices the package for the car. I have been really excited to see something nice on the shelves that is realistic and a diversion away from the Mattel monopoly.
And I agree with you! Too much money spent on disposable packaging that could otherwise be put into the model itself. Majorette seems to have it right!
nice! i have got a lot majorettes from the 70's, actually, im currently restoring a Majorette Lancia Montecarlo, it had almost no paint left, broken off parts and rusty axles.. but it should be done next week
EDIT.. 5 bucks per car... they're like 1,50 euro here... Greenlights on the other hand, they're tricky to find, and around 7 euro per car.
boer harms your a customizer to these kind of cars
yup, customizer and restorer, but not just majorette, old Siku's V-series, matchbox, superfast, basically most diecast from 70's europe.
Maorettes were around I think around 2010 I forget but I saw some at Sears and got a bunch that was on a short card
whats up o dawg quick question I remember in one of your videos you mentioned southtexas diecast as your quide but im trying to complete my blue card collection for my wall and I cant find the blue cards on their website. do you k now if there is another one I can go to so I can see what I have to get thanks and happy collecting yoju also got me hooked on greenlights I wish they had majorettes where im at thanks
Hey Chris! Thanks for watching and all! Unfortunately Southtexas diecast has not been complete or the same for some number of years now... I do recommend Michael Zarnocks publishings though if you are looking for Blue Card and variations. He's got a lot of really good and thorough books out on the Blue Cards, with descriptions and color pictures. Other then that, I have not looked around much on the subject anymore, as my collections is nearly as complete as I think it ever will be. Very hard to find the last rare cars, but I'm still trying a bit here and there!
OK cool I ordered some of his books last night along with some majorettes hopefully I got the right books. But love the collection and all the details can't wait to see the basement when's it's complete and hopefully you do a video on your carded wall happy hunting and good luck
Im looking for the A5 Coupe SO LONG NOW! You just cannot find it in my Region..
Please make a video on majorette construction equipment
Great video! Hard to believe I've watched you since August 2012! Are you a local celebrity yet? lol
Thanks for watching my vids all these years, and I'm super happy you still are enjoying them! I know it's hard to believe I've been on UA-cam making videos for so long now - 8 years already! I love where this hobby is going though, and the growing enthusiasm for it is unbelievable. So nice to be a part of this community! Funny enough, not many people know of my collection locally, I only show it on UA-cam and generally keep it quiet due to the investment I have in the cars being quite substantial.
Not sure whether someone's already informed you or not, but the sticker on the base of the cars is the build date. i.e. on the white GTR BK030516 stands for Bangkok (where the cars are made) May 03, 2016.
On the blue GTR, BK140316 means Bangkok March 14, 2016. ;)
Majorette series 3 limited edition are out now. I just bought some them. just to let you know.
very nice video thanks i love your videos :)
but... i like more the gtr blue :D
From where is this cars?
The white Porsche is the deluxe series from the end of the 90's. I'll make a video about them soon. This model is the most beautiful of this series IMHO.
We don't get Majorettes in my part of the world (Southeast U.S.), and to be honest, these just aren't doing it for me. They remind me of those TRU brand cars. That's funny, because I really did like all those haulers and trucks you showed previously. Thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you for your comment and point of view, we are all somewhat unique in our tastes and that goes for what we collect as well! Happy Holidays, and thank you also for all your support and great comments over the years!
Nice!
I love the cars
23:20 BK250116 ist the date it was made, BK stands for Bangkok where it comes from and the numbers are the date of January 25th in 2016.
the old Majorettes I remember some of them not the old old stuff but stuff from the 90's I remember going thought big baskets of them at that time it was a clear place top blister on a white plastic base and a piece of paper with the series number on it. hard to really describe but it gave full view of top and sides of the vehicle I am sure some of you out there must know the packaging I am talking about
I remember exactly what you are talking about, Majorette certainly have come in a wide variety of packaging over the years!
Yay I am not as bad as I thought at describing things than lol
Funny thing is it was the gift shop at Science World not a big box store or even a toy or hobby store They had some on short cards I think at Sears or HBC a while back too I think I got about 7-9 of them basically one of each of what was there. the little European cars are some of my favorites also Tomica as they do Asian cars maybe a bit odd but the muscle cars and exotics are not as interesting as regular cars that most of us drive even regular North American cars are neat.
It is kind of funny if I had a lot of money I would have a museum with cars people actually used to drive these restored of course but it would be cars like Chevrolet Chevette AMC Eagle Mazda GLC Hyundai Pony and Mercury Grand Marquis wagon. big wagons 4 door cars hatchbacks. The reason would be grandparents and parents that came with their kids would be able to connect with them as they might of actually had cars like the ones on display. not like I don't like Mustang or Camaro and those are just chosen as a example but think about it with cars like those and others they area rather common sight at a museum not that it makes them less special but after a while it is just another Mustang another Camaro and that is the car they wanted most likely not what they had
MY apologies for going off topic but thought that might be neat
Y'all are being of m2 but anyways do you have a fan page on facebook like racegroves
Here in NY there 3.00 to 4.00 each (majorette)
Excellent video as always wtffor !
I heard that majorette might be making a comeback here in the U.S. but we'll see! I hope so. I havn't seen em since toys r us closed which just saying that depresses me because they were my greenlight dealer and majorette
I've heard mixed things about Majorette, if you haven't seen my latest Majorette video give it a watch, I discuss just what you are referring too and more!
lol I have 2 old Majorette, one is a no.310 Autobus and another Renault Fourgon 279/234 (probably from a Majokit police action figure set, both made in France. I bought it from my humanities teacher like 7 months ago for about $0.20 each since he gave me a discount as I was his student. I end up buying his entire box of different brand cars incuding Greenlight, Matchbox, Hotwheels, Norev Fourgonette probably from 1950s Edocar, Siku and Welly for probably $15 dollars. There were probably 35 cars, some which were very old and rare including a HotWheels 2009 Deora. Most of them were either $0.20 to about $0.50.
Nice collection for a very reasonable cost! Congrats!
wtffor I have the mini cooper from majorette
Nice
French company from France, thanks for clearing that up, LOL strange how they decided to sell in the USA before Canada, which i always considered to be Frances ,outback
There are french companies in Canada, and other parts of the world too.... just saying. LOL
Love the Majorettes! Citroen Cactus is my favorite of the bunch!
Viva majorette 😗😗😗😗😗😗😗

Gaaah! Come back to the U.S. already! I really like the racing AMG GT and the SLS AMG!
I think if majorette would use better rims they would be better off.
Agreed
Renault Megane pronounced "Reyno Maygann
i live in Canada
Awesome! It's a great country!
i love the cars in majorette but i don t find this cars ??????. and i love the mercedes
Hey Majorette fix the rims and make cars lower please!
OMG i WANNA cry they stop selling them here in peru maybe people dont buy them I love majorette instead of matchbox
I don't like black rims on these cars. The best rims have Cayenne, Fiesta, Mercedes with gullwing doors and Renaults. The rest need swap the wheels.
Lol I live in the same province
